  1. Very nice pix Lani. My favorite brew also comes from that region...Kona brewing Wailua Wheat. It's brewed with passion fruit. It used to be that the only place you could get that particular flavor was at the brewery. Imagine my delight when I found it at my local Liquor store in Colorado last month!! $24 a case...I'd pay double that!!
  2. Great info. Thanks. Now I'm going to Google and check out how the whole PVD process works. Thanks again.
  3. SSS, I think you are correct, but what's Al? Is that something that has to do with the PVD process?
  4. I got it yesterday. It's not very accurate. It's too black, too shiny, the crystal is too domed, the bezel angles right into the crystal with no flat portion at the top, the CG is too thin (top to bottom), it's brushed instead of bead blasted...And I think it's cool as HELL!! I can't get myself to take it off!! Now I really want to either buy a nice PVD case or have a SS case bead blasted and PVD'd. The fit and finish is actually pretty good. I bought this for the dagger swan neck movement which I already pulled out. I'm using the movement for a 111 project. I replaced it in this watch with a standard asian 6497 that had a nice sandwich dial mounted. I may actually use this dial on the 111. I also added a Hirsch Liberty strap I had laying around. It's a little darker than I'd like for PVD, but it's 24/22 so I could use the PVD thumbnail buckle the watch came with. I like the look so much, I actually ordered a lighter honey Liberty strap for it. A couple of quick shots:
  5. You forgot one Smitty. When the Avs won the cup in 95-96, Adam Deadmarsh became the only player to have his name misspelled on the cup (It was spelled Deadmarch). The error was later corrected.
  6. Sorry Daytona, but here in Colorado, we aren't allowed to say the RW word without following it up with "SUCK" It's the law... ...And, if them's fightin' words, fine...How about you be Osgood and I'll be Saint Patty (Roy) (No, you can't be Vernon.) BTW, I too got to touch the cup...in 2001. OK...Congrats, but if you tell anyone I said that, I'll deny it!! And, as always, Red Wings SUCK!!
  7. You're absolutely right Jay. Sometimes I remind myself of a spoiled little kid and if I want something, I WANT IT!! If that means coddling someone who shouldn't be coddled in order to get what I want (in this instance a decent PVD case) even if it is not for the greater good. I know what I should do is not give him my business until he makes a commitment to step up QC. So, that's what I'll do. Thanks for setting me straight. I guess I can always look for a source to bead blast and PVD my existing case.
  8. Well, since it's making the rounds with Detroit players right now, I'd take a BIG OLD SMELLY DUMP in it!!! Red wings SUCK!!
  9. Since this thread seems to be staying alive, I thought I'd give an update. I actually used this strategy last week and attempted to purchase a 104 from David. I sent him an email and told him I was interested in buying one of his 104s and asked him to send me a few pix of the watch he was going to send so I could check it out. He was very accomidating and sent me a series of shots of a watch that looked nice, but had some issues with the lume on the 9 o'clock subdial. It looked like the lume on the markers was maybe applied too thick and ran (or bled) a bit. I pointed this out and he agreed to send pix of another watch. The second set of pix arrived the next day. This one still had a bit of the lume issue (not nearly as bad though) and I would have taken it, but there was a chunck of paint missing from the word LUMINOR on the bottom of the M. So, once again, I pointed this out and asked for another set of pix. David said he would send the the next day, but he sent nothing. It has been about 5 or 6 days now without a word from him. I was kind of disappointed by the experience and have not persued the matter further. I had decided use the funds I had allocated for the 104 to build a 111. The first thing I did was order an homage with a nice dagger movement off the bay. I figured I'd use the movement and hands from this watch. The watch I bought is supposed to be PVD (but might actually be paint) and now I'm thinking of a project 203a or some other PVD watch. I'll have to see what I think of a black PAM once my purchase arrives. I also bought a Trusty 111h w/Asian movement for the case and dial, which should arrive at the end of the week. Now for the real dilemma...If I decide to build a PVD watch, I guess I'll have to try a case from DSN since he seems to have the only decent PVD case. But now I'm afraid he's annoyed with me and won't give me the time of day...Oh well, I guess we'll see.
  10. Do you push it out from the bottom of the CG up, or from the top of the CG down? Or does it matter?
  11. Thanks lolo. That's kind of what I suspected. I basically bought it as a parts watch anyway. Just curious though, is it real PVD or is it paint or something else?
  12. Thanks Red. I bought it mainly for the dagger swan neck movement which I'll use for a 111 project I'm putting together. But since I don't have a PVD case, I decided to go for this (I got a pretty good price) thinking that if the case sucks, so be it, at least I got the movement. I know about DSNs PVD. I'll probably buy a case from him at some point. I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with this particular case and what the quality might be. I guess I'll find out soon enough.
  13. I just bought this: I know the brushed finish under the PVD is incorrect, but does anybody have experience with one of these and is the PVD decent? Thanks, Mike
  14. Sorry pug, I should have said, "one of the words that comes to mind". Believe me, there were several others!! I was wearing my "politically correct hat". (not really what it looks like, but I've always wanted to use this pimp guy. )
  15. Slai, Crooked stitching or not...I still love it. Enjoy.
  16. I'm not sure if they are or aren't from Panerai, and it's been a while since I've studied mechanical drawing, but take a look at the full size drawings, I believe all the numbered arrows reference other drawings in the set. One of the other drawings would have the dimensions. http://www.connectingwatches.com/watches-news-835.html
  17. Does anybody know where I might be able to find one of these of the 104? Thanks, Mike
  18. It's Trusty's best. I love the CGs and the Crystal. It has nice date mag. The only thing I really hate about this watch is the seconds subdial. It isn't recessed like the gen. Instead, it has many concentric circles machined into it to give the illusion that it is recessed. I plan on ordering DSNs 104 next week and seeing If I can combine parts of both to make one watch.
  19. I just got a nice clean one a couple of weeks ago. No I want one that looks wicked and nasty. My newest:
  20. Hey Slai...I have a good idea...Why don't the 3 of us share it?? V and I will each send you $50 and we can rotate who gets it for a week at a time. Sounds good eh? I know my username is mjmurphy, but my real name is John Doe. I'll have to send you my post office box number when my turn comes up because...uhh...uhh...a meteor hit my mail box...and...and...and the post office can't deliver to it right now...yeah...That's what happened. OK...nevermind. Enjoy it and post some pix of it when you get it.
  21. OK V...Not you slai either...I'm just jealous. If slai isn't completely in love with it and sends it to you, and you aren't totally in love with it, can I be next on the list?
