  1. The Gen price doesn't really come into it for me really, I look for a watch that appeals to me in looks and wear-ability, my nature is addictive so like most of us I have a few watches in the box, my only rule is that any purchase must be affordable from disposable income that I have (and the wife doesn't see it come in the post!) :inverted:

I love this hobby of ours, I get a great kick out of it and to be honest If I'm asked about a watch I'm wearing I offer the details and the 'is it gen' question hasn't come up yet. Most people do not have the faintest idea what make of watch your wearing or how much what you have on your wrist costs if it were Genuine imo :g:

I think I remember the post your talking about from a while ago, tbh the guy seemed like a [censored] who tried to belittle someone else by passing his reps as Gens, the guy's a loser!

Rep's these days are pretty bloody good in their own right, Qc issues etc are much better than they were 15 yrs ago when I bought them and hey they tell the time pretty well too ;)

  2. Maybe I'm new, but lately I see an alarming tendency to bash any member, daring to question admins or moderators.

What are you guys bashing iceberg for? seriously... He asked a legit question to which he had a legit answer from freddy333.

(BTW respect to TwoTone and Freddy for their reasonable answers!!)

Couldn't put it better myself ;)

Looks like he's copping a lot of flack from this, at sometime we all fk up and say something we perhaps didn't quite mean

  3. Thought I'd give a quick update on this one today,

I have been trying to make some time to do the refinish on the watch especially the bracelet so between decorating the house and work I found a couple hrs free today :clap2: so off I went!

My main reason for wanting to do the refinish is that the bracelet had some really sharp edges on it on the underside of the links so when I have been wearing it it chafes on my wrist, not good, so I started by filing away that sharp edge with a nail file one link at a time (tried a few ways with my dremel but kept catching it on the shiny edges) took a good bit of time but after about an hrs work it was nice and smooth!

Next I refinished the bracelet with a scotch pad and cape cod for the shiny bits, the watch head was finished with the pad and cape cod the same then ultra sonic cleaned all of it, while I was there I had the back off and

re-greased the seal too, all up took about two half hrs and it came up pretty good :inverted:

Feels even better now and really looks the part (and no more chaffed wrist!) it really is a fantastic rep I can't imagine how good the Gen must be in the flesh! Apologies too I didn't think to take pics whilst doing it
