  1. The ETA movement will "wind better", when setting the time one revolution of the crown = approx one revolution of the minute hand, with the asian movements generally the gearing is alot higher and the minute hand will do nearly two revolutions for one revolution of the crown.

The GMT hand setting on asian movements is normally rather jerky to where as on the ETA its smooth and precise.

    Thx Davey,

do you also know, if the 2836 is also jumping in 1-hour steps like the 2893.

    Regards

  2. Of course you can easily see and feel the difference, but have to have it in your hands.

The asian movement allows the GMT-hand to set the GMT time smooth and easy with.

The swiss ETA movement sets the GMT-hand by jumping in 1-hour steps, the GMT-hand will allways equal the normel minutes shown with the minutes hands. So minute hand and GMT-hand are coordinated, on the asian movement you can set the time only correct when showing the full hour.

Hard to explain, hope I come through to you.

    Cheers,

    Theo

    P.S.: Wow, post # 1 at RWGII

Do you know if there is a difference between the 2893 and the 2836 version ?

    Regards

  3. ..........The item of choice is the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, white dial, ss screws. (Beautiful watch, seems like it could go with any occasion. I've never even heard of this brand before I found RWG!) Anyway, I understand that the main thing to look out for is the thickness. ...............

As far as I know, thickness is not the only point.

APs have NO removable caseback like other watches. The Royal OAK is opened at the front.

But the reps are built like "normal" watches. (with removable caseback)

  4. Welcome Rolexman. It was agreed between the team who participated in the move that the post counter would stay for the time being. I agree that the type of posts that you are talking about do exist, but I'm not sure removing the post-counter will completely solve the problem, suffice to say that I don't recognise quality by post numbers alone, however sometimes, eventually, the two do match.

How about a max. number of post per day.

All posts above this number are not counted?

  5. Some of you may have flipped between this site and the old site over the course of the last few hours.

You may have also noticed that all our informative posts regarding the move have been removed.

As an owner of another message board and as a co-admin of this board, I can tell you that only a moderator or site admin has the permission to do this.

We're not sure who it is but we have a good idea. (Think real hard and see who's missing here)

Anyway, this person is editing our posts and inserting words that were not spoken. This has been done to one of nanug (Bob's) posts and as everyone here knows,e he is one of the most upstanding guys around.

Please be advised in advance that you may see bogus posts magically appear over there that we did not post.

    ..............

    Who cares ?

This person belongs to the past.

But here is the better future :thumbsupsmileyanim: (or was it furniture?)

    Regards to all of you

    Mike
