Update... of the 6 made only 2 it seems had the yellow-orange dial. The other 4 were black as pictured below.

Here's the black dial version, but unlike the 203's dial the sweep seconds hand is black...

oh yes, makes sense because I just read on a wesbite that the 210 was essentially an update to the 203 and the 209 an update to the 202. So I guess when they say 'update' they mean something like 99.5% the same with very minor changes? I Assume the case is the same and the only thing that changes is the dial, the seconds hand as you orberved, and of course the back where it says 210 Vs 203?

Drawings were proposals only. The 210 and it's "love it or hate it" dial has been forum fodder for many years. It's well documented and as you see it in my pic is the only version produced.

The 210 doesn't look like the one above. But it may be it with a different dial. Of course I have no idea how accurate those drawings are.

does the 203a have the same dial as the 210? It has to be. Then I don't know which case it has.

thank you for the reply. I meant if anything stays on the strap. There are some crappy rubbers straps out there that if you do this experiment will leave the strap looking like *** and of course it will all dust that happens to be around it like a magnet. So I guess the strap that came with your watch is top quality. It looks like that too.

Funny, I never heard of the vanilla scent thing before. If i put my nose right up to it, there is a faint scent. As far as the wording, I had to look really closely and it's still hard to tell without a loupe, but my guess is no, it's a decal. But it's a good looking decal in my opinion.

very nice and professional review. A great watch too. It can be worn as formal and as casual. You can wear it every day with the rubber strap and on more dressy occasions you can put it on a brown croc leather much like the original. I have a friend who has the original and he wears it like that and it's a true beauty. We wears it all the time. He swims with it, he runs with it, he goes to work with it every day and he wore it at his sister's wedding last week. The rubber strap that came with it if you rub a bath tissue or kleenex against the area where it says Panerai does it leave anything on it?

I never compared the watch in the listing with a rep Panerai. It was only given as an example to show that if a watch like that costs $3 then a rep Pan cannot cost more than $40. And the main point of this all is that if you removed the word Panerai from the rep Panerai and you changed it to "NiceWatch", i.e. no brand, while you kept everything else the same, it would be found on eBay for $42 including shipping.

But this is where the problem is. It's a Panerai. Fake yes but still. It's a Panerai.

OK, what is the bottom line of all this? Simple. The rep industry is WAY WAY more profitable (translates to rip-off) than the gen watch industry. Let's not get into a lot of details. Let's keep it simple.

Panerai sells a watch at $5000. The true cost is I'm sure way more than $1000 incuding R&D, design, marketing, manufacturing etc. Less than 5X the cost. And how many do they sell? Of course a limited number (by the way this is another reason the watches are this expensive, very few sales while they have to cover some minimum expenses for the company to continue to exist). And plus they have to worry about keeping their doors open next year by innovating, hiring good people, monitoring the competition etc. Nothing is granted,

A rep costs $30 and it sells for $300. 10X the cost. And they sell way way more as long as they keep themselves busy. Plenty of watches to copy and if one brand ceases to exist thank God there are another 1000 of them.

In both cases we are overpaying. But from where I'm standing it looks obvious we are overpaying more for the reps than we are for the gens. But as said before, it's the market that ultimate decides what's a fair price and what's not. But don't start feeling good just yet. Be careful because noone said that the market is smart enough to be able to discover the true prices of anything. The markets are usually stupid. Take for example the stock markets. Everyone sells when prices are low out of panic and fear and they all buy like stupid morons when prices have already skyrocketed through the roof out of greed, complacency and mainly stupidity. They say the price of a stock is the 'fair' price because the markets 'know' but looking at it closer the market doesn't know [censored]. The markets are dead asleep and they can't tell their ass from their face.

All that being said, we'll continue to buy both gens and reps unitl we drop dead and buy [the stock market] high and sell low. That's a plan. Let's commit to that.

It makes one wonder. The following watch sells for $8.89 INCLUDING shipping from HK to everywhere in the world and of course PayPal and eBay fees.

This is a real watch, everything working, and if I may say so it looks very very good. These guys only sell watches and look at their feedback. No complaints and everyone is happy with their watch.

Of course this is not Panerai but if one can manufacture a decent watch with $3 it's REALLY hard to comprehend how a watch like Panerai (which are extremely simple watches) can cost $10000. One usually believes that a rep Panerai, which can sell up to $350, is cheap but is it really? We are overpaying for genuines and we are overpaying for replicas. The reason why a rep Panerai is expensive is the same as why agen Panerai is expensive.

But I take all the above back. Everything I said. Noone is overpaying for anything. If someone puts out a product at a certain price, no matter how ridiculous, and the market does not reject it then it's not overvalued. The market speaks and the market is the one that determines the fair value of everything. So these watches are overpriced and overvalued for the ones that observe, the non-participants. Like the ones who choose to buy the $8.89 watch above. But definitely not for the ones who choose to pay up $10 000 for a watch whether it has a 3-day, 5-day or 300-day power reserve.

I don't think it would be 100% the same but it is so super close. I honestly cannot tell the difference when I look at shots taken in neutral light, it really looks like the pics of the gen under the link I posted above. This rep is really close to Gen. Yes we can pick high res shots all day long and find that the lume is 5% off, but once you wear it or even stare at it in your hand without a Gen to compare you really cannot tell.

The only issue I would point out are the fact the CP is not flat, but that also takes some staring to really see in real life versus high res shots. Even the shape of the lever is super close to gen, you can really only see that is a bit different in high res shots. That's it. I cannot really complain about how it looks but rather how some parts are still made cheap. Crown and lever are still way behind the Gen's as far as materials and build quality, they feel really fake. Crown Guard is pretty nice. Case is super nice, even screws are well made. So really the only negative thing is quality of the materials used for the crown and lever.

maybe the factories should focus on that then. They should take this feedback seriously and work in that direction. I'm sure if they put their mind to it they can achieves great results. They have achieved great results in all other departments from what I understand...

Haha, Seriously!! This is only my second one, I caught the bug but i'm a little deterred now due to these mishaps.. The 088 is working amazing now! So that's cool, they are so well made just some movement issues.. gen is like 5-10K so honestly, i'm still up here.. only $600 in the hole due to reps Im sure i can get this 005 working if i take the caseback off!

Every time you wear one of these reps on one wrist make sure you wear your Casio on the other wrist just to be safe (if you care about time). That's what I'm doing. And this way I don't even have to wind them let alone caring if the minute hand moves. High beat, low beat, Swiss, Asian, works, doesn't work. It's all good.

hahah dude horrible day for me!! The 088 finally worked, i wound it 40 times from the crown and gave it a big palm slap.. swirled it a bit and tossed it on my wrist, been keeping good time for about an hour now (while its on my wrist) so thats good!

I kept my Pam 005 on my desk just chilling for 24 hours without a wind, i went to put it on b4 and wind it up... It wound all the way but the hands never moved, the seconds hand wont move at all.. Palm slap over 5-6 times with no luck
