I would buy a gen as long as it was within my budget and I felt that I would be getting my money's worth. At current prices, there aren't many gens that fulfill both of those requirements.

It's not a problem as long as you have the disposable income to spend on watches. It sounds like the OP's friend may be buying more than his budget allows.

I received my first order only a few days ago and I'm already eyeballing another. I can see how easily this hobby could get out of hand if you let it. You order that first one to test the waters and then when you see how nice these reps are, it ignites the desire for others.

I just received my Planet Ocean from Josh. It's my first "good" rep and I can't get over how nice it is. My other watches are going to feel really neglected. This one will definitely be getting most of the wrist time.

Suppose it did spring a leak and you want to have it repaired...............do you take it to a watchmaker or a plumber?

The rep factories may have a little trouble getting that one right.

I just ordered a PO rep last week, so I'm not in a rush to get another. I'll wear it and give them time to get the new version right. Who knows, by then I may fancy something entirely different. I'm new to the rep scene and there are just so many to choose from!

A non-working chrono would be fine with me. I'd just like to have one that looks like the gen and has a sweeping second hand.

I love my Seiko 5. Great value, but not at all a high end watch.

Incredible collection. I just ordered my first nice rep and I can already see that I'm going to end up with less money and more watches when it's all said and done.
