  1. Adeodatus, I'm delighted your wife is assisting the rest of the female membership in refuting the belief that women only want quartz timepieces!

There is only one size of Omega Ladymatic, For some reason Josh places the ones with the lower end movements in a "mid" section. In carefully comparing the HIGHEST END Ladymatic with genuine photographs it does indeed appear to be an excellent wrap. Some of the cheaper models, particularly the quartz, have dial issues (for example the position of the date will is wrong) so make sure you do the relevant comparisons with whichever one you go with. Yes it is quite likely that the Swiss ETA termed movements are also made in China, and are likely to be better than the movement termed as "Asian" but I can't say for definite. The watch is simple and classy and would be an excellent daily watch. I have not had the opportunity of comparing mine with the genuine article because none of my local dealerships carry this model as yet. I would guess that the versions with the metal bracelet are best, since the leather on rep straps tends to be inferior.

Hmm.. I see , thanks for the insight.

There are 3 versions of this watch Andrew lists this low end at 188 http://www.yourtrustytime.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=35_84&products_id=9053

And there are two others at Josh's: http://www.1-pc8838.com/omdem00104-deville-ladymatic-ssss-a2836-p-11761.html and this higher priced: http://www.1-pc8838.com/omdel00024-deville-ladymatic-ssss-s2671-p-11399.html. So i'm I'm not mistaken, Photogirl, you suggest I buy the first one from josh and forget about the pricier "swiss" version right?

I prefer the SS bracelets as well. The leather ones are usually of a very poor quality, with a few exceptions. I think that she'd like a bracelet too, but I must admit that the leather strap looks fabulous on this watch. I wish there was a croc option, like for my Mark XVI

  2. Seeking advise here as well:

Looking for large(er) automatic ladies watch without bling, butterflies and other "nonsense" (her words) and preferably with numerals. I currently consider Omega Ladymatic (the black, plain one) and Ballon de Cartier, but was wondering about other accurate reps, if they exist. Quartz woudn't cut it for my much ,much more significant other. Please help a clueless guy out :)

  3. Thanks guys and gals :) for helping. I was looking at the "Ladies" sized watch and the price for Nickle Plated Fine Engineered Swiss Eta 2671-2 Automatic Movement, 25J, 28800bph is 398. My wife prefers automatic movements for their ingeneering and aesthetic value, probably because she's an architect. I'd buy her a gen in a heartbeat, nevermind the cost, I'd eat less, I'd go to work naked, who cares, but the bloody woman hates to spend on herself. So if I bought a gen it would cause a major family crisis. When I introduced her to the new hobby of mine and she's seen my first rep, she was all in. She said: "I always suspected you will figure this watch obsession of yours out, but now you owe me one as well". So now I'm looking for a nice watch for her and I know that she will appreciate the rep more than a gen, but I need a very good rep, because the last thing I want is her being called out. Pesonally I can handle it, but she's such a sweetheart, I don't want he to be hurt by some a$$hole making remarks...

Anyway... I'm drifting... Sorry, I can talk about her all day... :)

Now, I'm considering other options as well, but this watch is beatiful and very accurate as far as I can see. Correct me if I'm wrong Photogirl.

So my question is this I'm under impression that those so called Swiss ETA are also chinese reps, so It may be better to buy a A2813 movement. Am I wrong?

Also: the midsize one - is it a fanatsy size or is there an actual watch like this, I couldn't find it on omega site.

And the last one: Photogirl, how does this watch wear, can it pass as a daily beater, I mean without the bling bezel? What do you think of it?

  4. Very intersted in this watch, especially the automatic version. Is the extra price on ETA 2671-2 worth it? I suspect that it's not a real ETA, but it does look beautiful. The A2813 version retails $220 less and I wonder should I bother with the "swiss"?

  5. Muhaha!!! just got this, three months later:

    Dear Adeodatus,

Unfortunately your registration at RepGeek.com did not meet our membership requirements. Therefore your registration was deleted.

    Sorry,

Oh, man am I glad that I've found RWG first and didn't land on RG instead...

And about the numbers: on today's internet, forum membership count is redundant. I can personally add 10000 user accounts to any forum in a matter of 10-12 days. All legit with emails, a post or two and geographically differentiated. What would become of such a forum?! A garbage bin. As a long time forum user, even before they were called "forums", and an owner of one I can personally say that a quality of forum is not about the users count. IMHO it's about how active the members are, how willing they are to contribute and how close they feel within the forum. Sure, it's harder to measure, it's more difficult to sell to advertisers, but a smart advertiser, one that specializes in forum ads will never ask you about quantities, they will always ask about the quality. For us, members, the quality factor is obvious.

  6. Weird site they are...

I tried to register there a few weeks ago, I can't recall why, to read a review I think. They never approved the registration. No registration, no email, nothing.

Reading about all the cr@p some people had to endure there, I thank god they never approved. ;)

  7. I GOT IT!

I love it. It's fantastic. The quality is great, the "flaws" people talk about, honestly, they are so, so, so minor that they are difficult to see with the naked eye. I realized now that when you are looking at high res pictures on the web, these are about 20x's bigger than in person. If you painstakingly examine the pearl, you can kindof, maybe see it isn't exactly positioned right. This isn't something someone is going to just notice (at least on mine.) I personally can not even see it is off.

Attached picture, I didn't even fully clean it off or anything I was so pumped! Realize that when you are looking at this image (I guess depending on your screen size, mine is 24") that this picture is probably minimum 5X's the actual watch size.

Congrats, man! The watch looks absolutely fantastic. The pearl is spot on, the valve is positioned perfectly, even the hands look really good. :1a:

  8. @Adeodatus : Yes I LOVE bulldogs I had one, but he died :( I miss him very much. But if I want a new one they cost $4300 on average here in Norway. And they have too much health problems. So I went with a beagle this time. Next time I might go bulldog again, or maybe get a bulldog in addition to Harley. Here is a picture of Oswald the bulldog.

Oswald - amazing dog, may he rest in peace.

$4300?! Wow, man, that is steep. Seen puppies sold here at half that, papers and chip and all...

But Harley is definitely a keeper, cute as hell

  9. Well, you can read the following review :http://www.rwg.cc/topic/89733-iwc-portuguese-3714-review/

Note that the watch is not 100% accurate and than there i an issue with seconds @ 6 modification. There are work arounds, but you will probably not get a good movement out of the box.

There is also a quartz Portuguese, if you don't mind wearing a quartz : http://www.rwg.cc/topic/49857-iwc-portuguese-quartz-the-end-of-a-long-quest/ , but the dial issues are there as well.

I'm afraid, if you are looking for an accurate watch, franken is your only option, but frankens are fun.

  10. Hmmm... maybe you're right. Maybe I should get 3717 just to see how it wears.

The no date never was an issue for me, though. I wish the factories would have a run of IWC's. I'm a big fan, but almost all the watches I like have issues with accuracy / movement.
