  1. Trying to decide between PO 42 and the DSSD. I like both of the designs. On one hand PO seems like an inferior rep, with its tube and perl issues, while DSSD is a much better made, with almost no visual or functional imperfections. On the other hand DSSD is a Rolex - brand that I don't really like due to its high profile. Wearing it will definitely attract attention and questions and I would simply hate that. I want to wear my watch freely, under the radar, so to speak. Plus DSSD wears a bit higher on the wrist. I, too, have a 7'' wrist, so the DSSD will be very noticable - no way of wearing it under the sleeve. Can't get them both because I'm buying PAM288k to fill the chrono spot in my collection. Damn it I wish I hadn't read vandal's review of DSSD. :)

My PO is on it's way right now. I'll write another review of that one when it gets here if you want to compare. I'm sure you've seen Wetwork's fantastic review on the PO as well. The pearl on my QC pics looked pretty spot-on. I'm hoping that the crown works smoothly, but I'll have to wait til I get it to report back.

But I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with the opinions on the DSSD. I don't know if I'm missing something, but I don't see it as that in-your-face. To me, it's very similar to the sub but without the cyclops date window, which I think gives it a simpler looking face. I've been wearing it around quite a bit and I haven't had one single person even notice it yet, much less make a comment. So if your concerned about attracting attention, my experience so far is that it doesn't.

  2. You're determined :) Did you have a few drinks during the game? Not sure if it was the right result, we're kinda neutral on this side of the pond but bit of an upset, was a good tight game by all accounts.

Yes, many drinks were had! I didn't really care who won, but it was an exciting finish. Now I just need to shake this headache!

  3. Yea, I'm in agreement that their tracking is awful. I've even had the post office tell me that they don't always scan each package. Then I just have to ask, what the F am I paying for then?

I sent a watch back to Andrew that arrived a week ago. The tracking on it still says it hasn't been delivered. And that is expensive registered mail. I'm going in and getting a refund on the shipping if it never shows delivered. I know it has been delivered because Andrew told me it had, but I mean seriously, I spent $25 to ship a watch registered mail and they have no idea.

  4. I really think it depends on the type of watch and on the specific watch itself. I have a Bell & Ross that I don't think would look right with anything but rubber. I just bought the PAM177 that looks awesome with rubber, although I am looking for a black suede strap to interchange with the rubber one on that one.

On a nice dress watch, I think leather is the only way to go. I think a bracelet will make a dress watch look too sporty. Dive watches only look good to me with a SS bracelet.

I've never seen a gold bracelet I liked. Not to say I won't someday, but up to this point I think gold bracelets are for watches that belong to rap moguls, mob bosses, pimps, and old guys who retired from the phone company after 50 years.

    That is Vandal's 2 pennies..

  5. Long Post yes, but what is your question? ;)

    MM

I was thinking the same thing! I'm not sure what the question is.

If it's how do I decide what rep to get, that's easy. I find the watch I like the most, do some research to see if there's a good quality rep for it, and place an order with my trusted dealer Andrew.

My next one is going to be the Tag Aquaracer 500M, non-chrono, black face, SS bracelet, Swiss ETA movement.

After that I need to throw some money toward a new TV, but eventually I'd like to start saving for the Bell & Ross BR03 Type Aviation. I don't know if that will ever happen though since it's $618 for the rep. I mean it's dead on the gen as far as I can tell, but man that's a lot for a quartz movement rep. I really do love that watch though. Being a pilot I have a weakness for watches that look like they belong in the plane.

    Bam...question answered (I think)

  6. Yep best to take the photos down after the job is done, but don't worry too much about putting them up in the first place. They simply don't like it because originally when they all started doing QC pics there was a monumental amount thrown onto all the forums and this started a week long teardown of every single square mm of the each pic on every watch :) ....and then some noob would come along and reject their one due to some microscopic flaw that you could barely see under lab conditions :D The dealers were doing their nut over this!

Well this is a little exaggeration above but you can see their point :)

Yea, it's funny how much more you can see in the photos than up close in person. When my DSSD photos came, I saw a small smudge near the pearl. Once it arrived I couldn't see it so I thought it had been wiped off. Then I was looking at it through some reading glasses right up next to a light, and there it was! I could barely see it at all and it was pretty evident in the pictures. Of course it was just a smudge and wiped right off.

The other thing I noticed is that the steel of the case and band looks much more bland and washed out in the photos than it does in real life. I was so pleasantly surprised by how nice they looked when my watches arrived. But I can see how someone who hadn't received a rep before could nit-pick the photos with every little piece of dust. When I look at the photos, I just do a check for big things and make sure it's the watch I ordered. I know it must be a little frustrating for the dealers, but I really do appreciate the QC pictures. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling that everything's on track, and I think it adds a nice personal touch to the customer service. I know we're not paying thousands of dollars for each watch, but they're not exactly cheap either and it's nice to get that personal touch!

  7. Here's a pic of the print I was wondering about being engraved or just printed.

Will let ya know when it lands, if I can discern.

Vandal, did you open your's up for that fingerprint?

    Maybe you can check then?

    How's that accuracy check going?

    Is the AR blueish?

    Why is the sky blue?

I just got the rodico today. i opened the back and cleaned of the prints which came off nicely (thanks for the suggestion Cougar). The print on the movement is a decal, but it is very high quality and very sharp and clean looking. I have no complaints.

The timing for the first day is +3s/d.

The AR has kind of a bluish/purple color when reflected against light. A couple of the photos show it very accurately.

The sky is blue because of the refraction of light of off nitrogen, oxygen and argon molecules and water vapor reflecting blue light frequency...I don't know, I'm just BS-ing.

  8. Yea, I'm not sure why he asks not to put up QC pics. He puts QC pics up right on the website listing and aside from the order number, which I blurred out, they're almost the exact same.

I'll take the photos down tonight just to respect his wishes, but I wanted to get opinions from people who've been doing this longer than me.

    @Seeaye, yes it's the 42mm.

  9. The DSSD is holding up great. I'm wearing it right now and I'm liking it more and more each day. It is a super nice watch. In fact, I'm a little worried that I won't like the PO as much since I've been wearing this one around!

That Diagono is nice too (I really like the one with the white face and normally I prefer black dials only). But man, I would have to go with the DSSD first. Just my opinion and I don't have the Bvlgari to compare it to, but the DSSD has got to be one of the nicest reps outs there.

  10. Nice job Wetwork! I learned a lot from your review. It must have taken forever to write, but I for one appreciate the tremendous effort. My PO got back to Andrew and he's going to send me out a new replacement soon - QC pictures in 24-48 hours he said. Seeing yours makes me even more excited to get it.

    Thanks again!
