  1. I can get an MP with a kick ass logo buckle for $140 or a Woj with no buckle for $70, or a Greg Stevens for $70, or a vintage Dirk for around $100. A leather strap (not exotic) without a buckle shouldn't be $100.

Needless to say, the leather that was sources looks great.

BTW--I wasn't aware that Aaron was making the straps. I thought it was going to be a novice attempt at making straps (not a jab at you Veni).

  2. The 196 requires the fewest mods to be close to a gen. Datewheel is the only giveaway, and if anyone can see the datefont, they're deep in your personal space. 029/063 are great as well, although the crowns are not as good as the 196 and the cyclops provides little mag. Personally, the 029 is my favorite Panerai.

  3. After my daughter was born two years ago, safety finally entered my vocabulary. Out the door went the 1998 Harley Road King Classic (in Pearl Violet) and the 1994 911 (no room for a car seat). BTW, not a scratch on the HD, just bad pics. :p

When my daughter turns 8 and my wife is away some weekend, another Harley will be in the garage.

  4. While working out at the gym, a nice looking blonde was checking me out. When she was done with her machine she began cleaning it off and noticed my watch. I was wearing my 196. She said "nice watch, kind of rare". She also said she like my strap (a Don black and grey shark). She then walked away.

I realized a couple of minutes later that I had met her before. I was invited to the unveiling of Panerai at one of my local jewelers (the first Panerai rep in the area) and she was the area rep. She had no clue that what I was wearing was a rep (I made sure she didn't see the date font, which I think is the only thing that gives a 196 away). She's new to repping Pams, but I still feel like my watch passed muster easily.

  5. I received TTK's original 45mm with an ETA. Frankly, it looks just as good as the new version. I know there are a few differences, but just a few (such as the red tipped second hand). The watch LOOKS just as good as the sixth (!) version:

I doubt that you have a 45mm PO with ETA from Neil. He hasn't got one yet.
