  1. I have a platinum wedding band it definitely feels heavier than a comparable gold band. Pure platinum is 11% more dense than pure gold, but most gold jewelery is not pure where platinum is.

Here's an interesting fact: one cubic foot weighs a little more than 1,330 pounds. A cubic foot is about the size of a small microwave. HEAVY stuff.

  2. Same as the aspire one - lots of flaws.

What are the main flaws that you see? Bracelet is now curved--Check, Logo is in the correct place--Check, Date window is correct color--Check, Engraved clasp and caseback--Check. I think it looks pretty darn good. Finally an ETA 45mm. When I get back from my trip, this will be on my shopping list.

  3. Not a big deal, but I took a TWB Tan Hydro (btw, a great strap), used 400 grit standpaper on the tops and a Dremel tool sanding bit on the sides and on areas around the stitiching. Applied mink oil first (three coats) and then have been using some really old leather conditioner I found in my mothers basement. It's called "Cadillac".

I also used 400 grit sandpaper on the screw-in buckle. Looks perfect.

    What do you think???

  4. I feel the same way as most of you. I've owned gen watches and have a gen Piaget Polo in 18k in the safe from my grandfather (don't really like the watch at all) but have gravitated to "reasonable" reps. I'm a school counselor/administrator in an elite private school and most of the parents I deal with wear serious watches. A Sub/SMP/SD wouldn't be too over the top for me. A RO, VC, YM, or Daytona would be a bit too over the top. I've had many parents inquire about my Pams. They love them.

Wear what your comfortable wearing, but remember that 036 or Fiddy your wearing might be a bit too much for a less than six figure income. :D

  5. All BS as far as I'm concerned. The Internet is like a cave. You can disappear and reappear any time you want. You can be noticed or go unnoticed. You can be someone you're not. I'm not paranoid, but in this arena, your guilty until proven innocent. For this reason, we are all instructed to not do business with newbees until they've established credibility.

Even when you collect all the facts, you can still get screwed.

  6. I emailed Paul asking him a simple question: "Are his new 45mm ETA Planet Ocean's the ones with the latest generation with curved bracelet"? He responded in the following way

Could you send me photo of so called "curved bracelet" to my mail:aspire-eshop@hotmail.com

    Seems a bit defensive.

Can't beat his prices if he's delivering what he says he has. Does he really have a 45mm ETA PO with curved bracelet, and and engraved caseback and buckle?

  7. But I would like any Rlx experts opinion on the Rlx that might suit my needs the best. I wear 44mm Pams exclusively and am a big guy. I'm considering Josh's new Seadweller (The Perfect One), a Pepsi GMT, or an Exp II. I'm leaning towards the SD because it's a bit larger than the GMT and the EXP II.

I'm not a newbee and don't want to know who has the best of the above mentioned watches (unless you have a clear cut opinion) :p

    Thanks

  8. I guess if you don't ask, you won't get. Great job Eddie. Can't see the date font/mag/cyclops size. I'm guessing it's the 5mm no mag cyclops. Why can't the factories just put in a 6mm cyclops that does something? I don't get it.

  9. I could care less about the caseback and frankly the power reserve doesn't even have to be functional.

I love the brushed stainless case, the hobnail, the thick cg and crown, and correct size mag cyclops, skeleton hands, the dots, and of course a killer lume.

Throw an ETA movement in this puppy.

    Easily my favorite Panerai.

  10. You appear to have gotten 5 nice tan and 5 nice black straps, but who needs that many of the same strap. You can probably sell many of these off over at Paneristi to offset your cost (or you might sell them here as well). The Dirks and MP can sell for $80-$120 easily if they're in good shape. Keep some, sell some.

  11. Jerry would say your collection "is the hippest".

No Fiddy??? I'm not a fan either.

I do love the 111h and the 177.

    Great taste in straps.

You have too many watches. Maybe a sale to a "head"?

  12. I visit TC from time to time and haven't ever seen Dirk referred to until today. Shame on you Elliot. You have purposely pilferred someones namesake for your own benefit. You have alienated so many people in the past three weeks with your tirade here and your miscalculation at TC. I feel sorry for you. You must have some serious issues upstairs. A bipolar in a manic phase for sure.

    BTW, I see you lurking.
