  1. OP, no offense but you're making the Belgians look bad. It does NOT cost 40€ to ship a watch and bracelet inside the EU from Belgium. Adjust your expectations and learn to work with the (great) solutions that are being offered. As others have mentioned, buying a rep is NOT like buying a watch in a store, and you will be disappointed from time to time. That's the nature of the hobby.

  2. It's been pretty good so far.

Arrived in April. Bought a Bentley continental GT. spent 5 weeks touring Europe. Then 4 in Ireland. Currently in Milton Keynes. December is husky sledding in Lapland. Then Germany for 2 months. Then France for 2 months. No plans after March. Spain maybe.

But yes. I've only brought 2 watches. Sea dweller and FM Crazy hours 8880.

Sent from my Guide using the Sub-Etha Net.

Wow. If I had that sort of cash to spend I wouldn't bother with reps :)

  3. AH! the classic Chevy Lumina ,had one of those.

It's called excelling at what you do and yes you gotta be lucky sometimes too.

Haha. Don't be naïve, Mike. If that were true I'd be driving an Aston too after years of working 14 hours a day but all I have to show for it is a second hand hatchback. And yes, I excel what I do. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with "business" aka shaking some hands, knowing some people and taking some money left and right.

And yes, I have a very sour vision of the "business" world.

  4. How on earth will it be your first rep when you posted this 2 years ago:

I have both, nothing like the real deal but having said that I have had a po eta for 5 year now and still as good as any of my seiko's, I have had 21j reps from very good td's but in my opinion I wouldn't bother with another 21j that's just my opinion I'm sure there's plenty of members have very reliable 21j

It blows my mind that you still don't know where to post a wanted thread after 3 years.

  5. Great business for the dealers, yeah. Look at the Sub V5. Five versions and it's still not correct. But each version sells tons to the same suckers. You think V6 will be correct? They'll just 'forget' something else then.

Sorry, I'm in that certain mood of being fed up with reps at the moment.

  6. They always have been that way. It was the H-factory version that has the right matte shine. But that version had the problem of fading indexes.

BP factory you mean. And that one was way too matte. Imo the Noob is closer despite being shiny. I have a gen and had the BP and Noobs so was able to compare.

And to the op, you want something that looks like a gen? Then buy a gen. This detail nitpicking is exactly what made me quit the rep hobby. Expecting gen quality for a few hundred dollars, and then posting about how disappointed you are. Boohoo.

  7. I thought, if it's 13$ on the bay it'll be half on Aliexpress but it's not :(

How does it work exactly? Is it just the print that's broken? I use fully printed tape from a company that's no longer in business, seems that would serve the same purpose?

  8. I bought a DW Daytona about 5 years ago from a member on this forum. One of my first reps. The sales thread said it had lots of gen parts, including crystal, pushers, crown and maybe more. I came back about 6 months later when I was more into the actual intricacies of reps and couldn't find the sale thread anywhere. By then I wasn't sure what was gen and what wasn't. still not sure about the pushers.

It would have been immensely helpful if the thread and pictures were still available. I imagine it went bye-bye in a hard drive crash or something but I strongly agree that if you sell a watch there should be a paper trail left for at least a year.

That should be your respobsibility imo. These are still used sales. I sell on a few websites for used goods and there is not a single one that requires for your ad to be still there when you sell something.

I save all pictures and information from my used purchases, here and elsewhere. It's not that hard to do. Of course, it's easier to do nothing and just cross your fingers that the thread is still there or the board hasn't crashed.

  9. Fracture just so you know no deleting of pics here ever in a sales thread ( I may need them for future reference) and why would you waste the time anyway. :g:

As to subject at hand I think Nanuq has said it concisely and I will leave it at that.

Because they're hosted on my personal webspace and I need the space. The images are mine, and I don't believe keeping things online forever is a good choice if it's redundant. The internet is cluttered enough with terrabytes of useless stuff as it is. If the sale went through without problems and the buyer has no complaints after two weeks, that's that for me.
