  1. I have two Breitling Steelfishes, one blue face on stainless steel bracelet and one white face on tan leather. The blue dial version was sent to The Zigmeister for a full service and relume. The white dial comes with 'superb lume' which has received many positive comments from rep fans. I thought that some people might like to see the difference between the gen Superlume as used by The Zigmeister and the high quality lume used by the rep factories. The photo was taken in a mostly dark room, with the watches charged by a standard household lamp for about a minute. Superlume on the left:
  2. I'll try to take some photos when it returns, but I fear my efforts will look miserable in comparison to your photographic skills!
  3. Excellent, can't wait to see it!
  4. Many thanks for the review. Hope you can reduce the choppy seconds hand when it goes back together How will the relume be on this watch? There's quite a lot of real estate to relume - will this cause any particular challenges for you? Regards Rob
  5. I have a very lovely Navitimer Serie Speciale (Fighters Edition) which is probably my favourite watch. The very obvious flaw is the incorrect spelling of Messerschmitt on the caseback. Anyone know if it's possible to obtain a new caseback with the correct spelling?
  6. I should have said that the only (very minor) problem with is that the rotor is a little bit noisy, so you can hear it when it rotates. I've also never played with the chronos, in the hope that this will reduce the stress on the movement. Do we have a "fingers crossed" smillie?
  7. I have the Laureus version (blue face), bought secondhand from another RWG member for $75 IIRC. I've had it about two months now, but I'm not sure how long the previous owner had it but I guess at least that long. The watch has been faultless since I've owned it. It lives happily in my winder and has never stopped running there, and when I wear it (for a day, every couple of weeks or so) it is very happy on my wrist. It keeps excellent time, probably within COSC, maybe gaining two or three seconds a day. Although I'm expecting the worst, so far the watch has been a real trooper! I'm now tempted to get the crystal AR coated, but will speak to The Zigmeister for his advice on whether he things I should just leave it as it is and enjoy it while it lasts, freeze the seconds hand or go for the crystal mod and keep my fingers crossed.
  8. I have the same strap on a Navitimer Series Speciale with eta 7750 (the brushed case special that Joshua does). It's really a wonderful combination. It's currently with The Zigmeister at the moment for relume and painting the subdial hands black, as well as double AR from Chieftang. If I could find a caseback without the messed up spelling of Messerschmitt I'd be more than happy! Thanks for the photos chief3630 reminded me just how lovely this watch is
  9. That's why I'm hoping it will get done sooner rather than later. It could be a killer rep if the factory that did the Steelfish turned their attention to this one as soon as they got their hands on a gen to make sure they did a decent job
  10. Anyone heard any whispers about the new Breitling Superocean Heritage getting attention in the rep factories? I'd love to see a rep with the same quality as the Steelfish, especially if the bronze 46mm version was done. I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
  11. Phew! Good old The Zigmeister
  12. Oh poo Did all the Navi crystals do exactly this? I'm hoping that The Zigmeister managed to strip mine of it's light AR before sending it to you for Run 3, but maybe stripping the AR isn't enough and there will always be this reaction between the old and new AR processes?
  13. I bought the same watch for my GF. It also has a little bit of play in the bezel. Be interested to learn if you find a fix for it.
  14. Yes it is on the ParcelForce website, and says the same as the EMS website ("left origin country on 15 April"). I'll give ParcelForce a call if there's no sign of progress by the end of the week.
  15. That's bad! Have you been in touch with the dealer? How long did they say you should wait for EMS to deliver?
  16. I have a watch on order from Joshua. The tracking info shows that the watch left China on 14 April, but since then there has been no updates on the tracking info (either on the EMS website or the UK's ParcelForce website). Another watch I bought at the same time took four days to arrive, even though both watches were despatched from China on the same day. Should I start to worry, or is it too early to be concerned about the watch going missing in transit/being picked up by Customs?
  17. I tried on a gen yesterday and there was a slight jumpiness, not quite as pronounced as my rep but if you focused on the second hand you could see that it didn't sweep as smoothly as other (rep) watches that I have. Perhaps this is due to the very long seconds hand making it more obvious? Obviously I didn't take my rep into the AD but I have to say that I couldn't see, feel or smell and difference between the gen and my rep (other than the jerkiness of the seconds hand). I'm sending my Mille Miglia to The Zigmeister tomorrow so I'm sure he will be able to say somethings about the movement when he's had some time to look at it.
  18. The seconds hand on mine also stutters/jumps noticeably.
  19. The movement and the rotor are very nicely finished with perlage and cote de geneve etching, but the Chopard name is with stickers rather than engraving.
  20. Thanks. The rep's colour is pretty accurate to that Hope The Zigmeister can reproduce it in Superlume when he gets my watch.
  21. I've got one of the new Chopard Mille Miglia GTXL. Amazing looking watch (even my girlfriend said it looks lovely - normally she says "another bloody watch!"), with a strong blue AR tint, a good date mag and high quality finish all round. The strap and deployent clasp are very nice, and the rubber does smell of vanilla! Compared to the Steelfish the lume is a bit weak (but better than a couple of other watches I have), and a slightly different colour. In daylight the hands are white and the hour markers have a very very pale green tint to them. In the dark the hands have a slightly brighter lume than the hour markers, and both are a slighter paler green colour than my Ziggified Steelfish. I can't wait until this baby is relumed, it's going to look amazing! The only issue I have with the watch is that the second hand has a little bit of a stutter as it sweeps around the face (although it keeps very good time, within COSC). I'm hoping that when The Zigmeister services the watch this issue will go away. Anyone know if the modified Asian 7750 that powers this watch could be replaced by a similarly modified ETA 7750?
  22. Three other automatics with full size second hands (rather than subdials) and all sweep smoothly. The watch is already booked in with The Zigmeister, and he'll have it in a couple of weeks time to weave his magic!
  23. Got a new rep today with an asian 7750 (with the chrono module removed apparently). The second hand seems to stutter ever so slightly rather than sweep smoothly. Is this the sign of a problem with the movement, or it is normal? In the few hours I've been wearing it the watch seems to keep OK time, so not sure how the slight stuttering is affecting things.
  24. Oh well, maybe next time you get an SMP...
  25. Would that solution be noticeably different to the other markers? Or would it be better to get a gen dial and just ditch the one with the missing 3 marker.
