  1. Thanks for the comments. I've just emailed the dealer and will let you know what he says.
  2. I recently bought one of the new rep watches that have caused quite a buzz here in the last couple of months. I decided to have the watch serviced because it was keeping poor time, and when the watch was being stripped down it was obvious that the movement (a genuine ETA) was quite old with lots of wear on the inside of the mainspring barrel. Being quite new to rep watches I'm not sure if this is a normal situation. When we buy rep watches should we expect the movement to be new?
  3. Mt current daily beaters are very good: my Navitimer Serie Speciale with ETA 7750 gains less than one second per day and my Panny 113 from Davidsen looses just over three seconds a day. On the other hand my new Steelfish with ETA movement was gaining more than a minute a day which meant that it wasn't really reliable enough to use because of the danger of missing trains and the like. So the Steelfish has gone to be serviced and I hope that it will be a much better timekeeper when it returns.
  4. I suppose that if you're going to wear a cheap watch the best place to do it is sitting in the middle of your own Premiership Football Club!
  5. As a newbie to all this the whole business is utterly bizarre. Not knowing the history I've never understood where there are three forums all, apparently, serving the same function. This business and some other acrimonious debates across there have really put me off the place, particularly when it doesn't seem to have anything unique to offer. I've therefore deleted it from my favourites list, so one less site to have to keep up to date with.
  6. There is likely to be a high quality (and expensive) replica version of this watch within the next month or two, more info here http://www.replicacollector.com/members/Ch...ion-t27066.html
  7. Thanks, just checked his site and couldn't see a Ladies Link available. Have I missed it?
  8. My girlfriend likes the look of the Tag Link watch. Any reasonable quality replicas of this watch available?
  9. Any news of a good quality BR-03 rep?
  10. I'm looking for a good watchsmith in the UK to do a repair on my IWC FAJones, and to service my new Steelfish which is running too fast. Any recommendations that I could consider? Thanks.
  11. ... missing hour marker at 3 O'Clock position (correct for the midsize version of the watch, but not the full size)
  12. Many thanks
  13. Thanks very much for that. Is there a definition of a "full charge"? Would regular wearing of the watch in daylight or artificial light fully charge the lume?
  14. A couple of my recent replica purchases have good lume on them (the Steelfish and my Navitimer Serie Speciale). When recently exposed to a light source the glow from the lume is very impressive, but obviously it starts to fade after some time. How long after the last exposure to light should we expect a good lume to be visible in a darkened room?
  15. How much, and what was the parts numbers?
  16. The watches that I might want to ski with are the new Steelfish with an eta 2824 movement or my Navitimer with an eta 7750. I don't know what the restrictions of wear are for a gen watch, but I guess that if I owned either a gen Steelfish or a gen Navitimer I would be surprised and very disappointed if either stopped working because I'd skied with them. Does anyone have a high quality replica watch which has stopped working because of mechanical damage from sporting (or similar) wear & tear?
  17. Biggest difference that I've spotted between my blue dial rep and the gen I saw in an AD this morning is how well the lume is applied to the circular hour markers. On the gen the lume is smooth and seems perfectly circular, precisely filling the hour marker. On the rep the lume seems 'lumpy' and not perfectly circular. This is fairly easy to spot with the naked eye (rather than with a loupe), but only of you are looking for it. It's the only modification which I think I might consider in the future. The one thing which is most noteworthy about the rep (amongst many good things) is the quality of the AR - most of the time the crystal seem to be missing as there are almost no reflections whatsoever. It's quite spooky!
  18. OK, I'll do that. If it is dirty will a watchsmith be able to clean it so that runs better?
  19. My new Steelfish arrived yesterday. Lovely watch and I'm very pleased with it. However, it seems to be running a bit fast and looks like it's gained 30 seconds in the last 16 hours. Is there anyway that a newbie like me can regulate this watch so that it keeps better time? The movement is the gen eta version rather than the Asian copy.
  20. I'm fairly new to mechanical watches and was wondering how sturdy they are during sporting activities like skiing? Are they able to withstand lots of flinging of arms around and occasionally getting bounced around when gravity gets the better of my limited ski technique! Could I knock something out of line by being too violent with my watch? My new Steelfish certainly looks sturdy, but I wouldn't want to do anything silly to it.
  21. RESULT!! Just tried the EMS tracking with Firefox rather than Safari and got the same message as you (released from Customs at Coventry) but mine was let free 45 minutes after yours! Wonder if they will deliver tomorrow? Thanks for the tip about checking the EMS tracking
  22. I've tried, but can't get a tracking result. The EMS website is replying with an Error Page and the PrcelForce website is still down Before ParcelForce went down the message I got from them that the package was collected from sender on 6 Feb and left the country of origin on the 7th ('Handed Over') but no indication that it had arrived in the UK, and it wasn't issued an XXXGB tracking number either. The waiting is agony...!
  23. Nope, not yet. The ParcelForce website still reports that it left the country of origin on the 7th and then doesn't report anything after that.
  24. Just curious about when the genuine Navitimer Serie Speciale watches were produced. Anyone have any idea?
  25. Thanks guys, I'll get in touch with Finepics in a couple of months time when he has a bit more time on his hands for watch-related stuff.
