three sets of clothes for this custom 6152/1
left - ammo leather kampf style.
middle - new tan leather
right - new dark brown leather so soft it drips off your wrist.
And new threads for my 6200 -
new shoes for my 6152/1, from a piece of raw natural untouched leather. just added some leather conditioner and then some tan-kote, overall effect was to darken slightly and soften and give the surface a finish that shouldn't get grubby quickly. I'm just going to wait and see how it develops with use. buckle is a River buckle rescued from one of his straps and beaten up, reshaped slightly and generally abused (it's all I had at the time, but i'm happy with the result, no substitute for Elias)
And I felt the need to make a box for it even though I am now wearing it. -
why not !

River 6154 case set, reshaped
one of my cream gaposis dials made from an Athaya blank
tall wide hands from Athaya
A6497 with solid CB
Strap by my with brass buckle by Elias -
This is a Homage 2533 I've spent quite a while building, the latest re-do was the hands as they started to rust badly.
I've been looking a box to present the watch in for ages, I've found a few options in the past but nothing that really did it for me. Then I stumbled on this in a local craft shop and I think it will do the job
LOT'S OF PICS.....................
River 3646 case set. shaped and softened, crown tube and wire lugs soldered by me. Crown and movement ring aged
Binbin hands, sized, blued (many times), and lumed by me (cornholio lume)
Cort 616 (NW engraved)
cousins plexi front and back.
Amazing Daytona dial, painted, resin filled and lumed by me.
Strap made from old postal bag by me and fitted with an Elias knife edge brass buckle.
Box....aged by me -
Those are really some great pics..what camera did you use for clicking those shots?
I use a Canon 5D mkIII and a Fuji XE1

There's another trick you can try. The Silix case has a funny divot where the tube screws in. Try filling that with JB Weld metal epoxy, then shaping it, and tapping the threads through it.
Then when you screw the tube in, it holds it out from the case just a smidgen.
sound like a plan, one day
-
It looks like it sits a lot closer to the case. Did you shorten the tube too? That's a nice touch.
No the tube is fine, the problem with this crown is that the 'click' of the the bezel is actually the bezel rubbing against the crown, it also lifts the bezel a millimetre or so when screwed down, so reshaping the case side angle gives the bezel a little more room and less pressure.
-
Very nice! It looks like you did an Athaya crown? Those case bevels are darn good too.
Thanks, the crown is the stock silix crown, I just reshaped it in a drill with some files to give it a better profile.
-
My silix arrived last week, I wore it for a few days and when the weekend arrived I couldn't resist, I had to build what I've been waiting for for about a year.
before-
dial and hands ageing, case and crown ageing and reshape.
Finished- with a Clark tropic-19 sanded slightly lower and added.
and with it's little sister

no leave the blue hands just age them a bit, add some red tone to the dial plexi and you're done.
