If you look at a picture of the real thing you will see that there are 11 sections on the barrel of the pen between the areas that I've marked and from the top of the pen the end of the clip lines up with the end of the sixth section. On the one you've pictured here there are only nine sections and the end of the clip lines up with the end of the fifth section.

Also the fold on the end of the clip looks a little rough to me, circled in the image.

Plenty of pics of the real thing on the net....just google.

Edited to add image of gen pen

  2. I have a genuine 2893-2 movement which is running fine (+4s per day), but have noticed that the GMT hand seems to lag behind slightly when the minute hand passes twelve o'clock. So when the hour passes, the GMT hand doesn't line up with the correct 24hr marker untill around 20 minutes past. This is the first GMT I've bought so I'm not sure if this is normal?

  3. and no adverts too :)

Curses! I never once thought to check how the online coverage compared to the television lol, oh well at least we don't have to put up with James Allen ever again :drinks:

It's going to be interesting what happens next year. From what I've read BMW appear to have the upper hand with KERS, but Williams and Honda have both invested big bucks in companies that specialise in the technology. So next year, teams that were near to the back and midfield might suddenly be right at the front end. I think the teams with the best aero departments will still be the favourites though; skinny wings with more mechanical grip from the slicks will be where the advantage lies, not in silly boost systems. I'm not even sure if I can see KERS actually materialising?

  4. Nicky Hayden is an exception its very rare for a person to win a WC and have so few wins.

Mike Hawthorn and Keke Rosberg only won once in their respective championship years. Besides, Hamilton crossed the line first in more races than Massa did this year ;)

  5. Now you wont believe this but I had a nightmare yesterday trying to get the strap made smaller. I noticed several guys on RMG recommended the Timpsens franchises for this as they don't mind working on reps and do it while you wait. With this in mind I took the watch to my local branch. After a few minutes the guy handed the watch back to me saying, eh...I cant get the strap pins out because they are 'really, really' stiff. He then showed me the standard tool he used and said trying to get them out had snapped the tool...it was now on two pieces! He recommended taking it to another branch so I'll do that later today. Wish me luck!

You might want to consider investing in one of these:

Ebay is awash with them and you'll find it invaluable for sizing all the other reps you're bound to buy :D

  6. Hi again

    Woow, that worked.

Unfortunately I figured out how to change the date before I saw your post, so hope that I haven't screwed up anything :S

    Thank you very much...

Man, I look forward to buying my next watch.

If I may add a question: Say I wanted to AR the watch, what do you guys do? Do you send the whole watch to one of the AR-guys here at the forum or do you disassemble the watch by yourselves and send the crystal?

Have a nice weekend you guys, and thank you all for helping me in buying my first rep.

    /K

As far as AR is concerned the Tag Link really benefits from it but your options to get it done have narrowed somewhat recently, you may wish to familiarise yourself with this thread:

The only other option is chieftang, check out his section for details.

  7. OK......First you need to unscrew the crown, this will put it in the hand winding position, pull the crown gently again to the first stop and it will be in the date adjustment position, pull it again to the second stop and you're at the time setting position.

You cannot stop the sub dial at 9, that is the running seconds hand and it runs continuously when the watch is running, the other two sub dials at 6 and 12 are chronograph registers and only work when the stopwatch (large centre second hand) is running, the dial at 12 is the 30 minute register and the one at 6 is the 12 hour register.

To operate the stopwatch you need to press the top button (2 0'clock) and to stop it you press this button again, the buttons are usually fairly stiff to operate and need a firm press to work. To return the large second hand to the 12 o'clock position you stop the chrono by pressing the top button and then press the bottom (4 o

  9. I would never use Royal Mail Airsure ever again, as it does not require a signature, unlike RM's International signed for service, which does....

The one parcel I did send to the EU in the past using Airsure, was left at the doorstep of the receiver, as no signature was required......

    Not secure at all......

Stick with RM's registered mail, or use interparcel for items that are genuine....

    Cheers! B)

Yup, lost a very valuable MB pen (gen) a couple of years ago when I used the same service. Me and the buyer assumed the same thing happened. Thankfully it was insured, but it still gets me that some theiving bastard's got a
