  1. What kind of dial designs do you think I should go for ? I was going along the homage style but not sure if I like it. Any input?
  2. Yes that is what I'm basing it around
  3. I'm now playing around trying to fit the 2824 movement into the case I would like to similar design with the hidden crystal gasket.
  4. Hi fellas, Ive been designing my Own AP Style case in hope to actually machine it. Ive done many many renderings and this is the final design I hope you all like it. Ive encorporated many different Audemars Piguet Styles such as the AP Diver Case and the MS Crown, 15400 Bezel. No visible gaskets but the crystal will be clamped down when the bezel is tightened and a gasket will seal the crystal underneath where it isn't visible. The surface finish on the watch is just the same as SS AP's Linear Brush with polished Chambers. On the case back I'm tempted to put a turned circular finish on it all and then polished engravings. Ill let you do the judging Cheers, Olly
  5. I currently have my own case that I'm modding. I'll update this thread but this service is not available as such yet. Cheers, Olly
  6. This service is currently not authorized but I am still doing some development. As instructed by the admins I shall end this thread.
  7. If someone has a gem case and has some measuring equipment it would be super duper if someone could measure it all so I can model it up
  8. Haha yes slow feed rates does mean better surface finish. I'm also training my self as a watch maker so have spent a LONG time perfecting my polishing skills yes I'll take you up on your experience also pal
  9. When you say you can't machine "bevels" on a machine that isn't the case, If you have the know how it is very possible. Imagine a tool with a radius on the end. We call then ball nose tools and they can create a very curvy surface. With a 8mm ball nose you can create the lugs and case sides as well as boring out the rough ID of the case. I would do something like this however I would need all of the dimensions in order to design and program the machine. I do have 3D ready CAM software so it is all possible.
  10. Imagine a bull dog with floppy cheeks shaking. Dribble everywhere hahah
  11. I'm in the automotive design industry but have been trained in CNC Setup and Programing.
  12. You sure it isn't a dribble flick ?
  13. Cheers man really appreciate the support, that's what it's all about really
  14. I shall start modding the AP Case over this week end so get your belts done and hang on tight fingers crossed the 6000 lines of code are correct
  15. Hi man, no I would ask for the case and would Machine your case and send your case back. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Hi fellas !! It's been quite a while since I last posted here but behind the scenes I've been developing the setup and machine I decided that, hell this machine isn't up to what I need it for !! Time to ramp up May I pronounce to you, the AMA25LV Custom CNC Machine !! I've now got around £3,500 into this machine now and till recently I have finished converting it to CNC. I'll share some pics of the conversion just to show what I had to go through to make it CNC All calibrated to within 0.01mm (0.0005mm at best) which is pretty damn good !! Now the machine is completed I shall start modding the AP Case Stay tuned, MUCH MORE to come Cheers,
  17. Here are some of the things that I made when I was learning to machine. Mill and Lathe: The polished and nice pieces where my assessment pieces. That car took 3 weeks planning and 12 hours to complete
  18. Thanks fellas, I've had experience working for members on other boards (watchmaking) some thing have gone wrong and have been resolved by me covering the costs but I've also had many things go right and people are delighted with my work. When you have been machining for as long as I have you get something called a "Micron Eye" ( can judge when something is perfect ) I've done parts on prototype Aston martian and Bentley cars all seems to work and hold up ok. All in all this project has cost me just over £1000. The machine is being delivered on this Friday. The machine tools like the rotary table and mill collet chuck will arrive within that time also I'll post some pictures of where the machine is going to go and the set up etc.. I'm really excited about this project now. It's all coming together smoothly with lots of interest Cheers,
  19. I run Solidworks 2014 and BobCam but I'm not sure if the mill I will build will communicate with it.
  20. Yes the camera to zero the XY on the spindle is a great idea. It is usually used on the cheaper versions of the more industrial CNC Lathes. I plan on setting a vice permanently to the machine table and set a reference datum point from the left hand corner of the fixed Jaw. Then use a stock stop on the left hand side so I can put in stock material in the same place every time I cycle the program. The scary thing when you start the machine and it rapids to 1 mm above the Z0 it looks like it's going to self destruct !! Here is a pic of where I learnt CNC Programing: And this is the boat I plan on building with the Mill. Not the wooden bits that is in a kit pre CNC cut:
