  1. Thanks for the kind comments. Yeah, i think this incorrect dial works out for the best. If the numbers were in italics - not too sure. Gotta love having spare parts and a creative mind. Now, just need to think about the next fantasy piece
  2. If there's another TripleHD Emergency Funds sale - Ill let ya know.
  3. Who's doing the relume? Post pics when completed.
  4. About 15 minute drive from ya. Im in Woodridge/Downers Grove area. Welcome.
  5. Agreed. Just pay to get the dial & hands relumed. Also - swap the movement out with a DG4816. It has a better date font. Check mine out:
  6. I love creating watches from scratch. Some are exact models (i.e. Seamasters, Subs, etc) whereas others are pure fantasy. Here's my latest. I started off with purchasing the first version of the new fishes. As you can see, the numbers were not in italics. No biggie. I had a spare SFSO case but the numbers on the bezel were deeper than most SFSO cases. So, put 2 and 2 together and came up with a fantasy fish. I think the deeper numbers on the bezel gives it a more military look. Additionally, the crystal on the case has bluish A/R which adds to the watch. What you guys think? Some fun pics (changed the brightness and contrast)
  7. It all depends. Some gens have single, some have double. Some have purple tint, some have blue. Every gen brand is different. Is sure does. One of the most common mods performed on a watch is either to get a gen crystal or get the crystal double A/R treatment. For my POs, you can see a HUGE difference comparing the stock A/R vs a gen crystal vs a double A/R treatment by one of our modders.
  8. Do we need a RWGBOARD play area
  9. Dont you think they do get in trouble now with authorities and Gen manufacturers ? Every once in a while, websites are shut down and they do have raids here and there with certain factories. There can be various reasons why they dont get the details right. SOmetimes, when a new watch comes out - factories will rush a quick version out because, its cheap to made and they know people will buy it. Then, they come out with a v2, v3, etc. Do they do this because they know there still improvements to be made or do they do this because with each new version, they know people will buy it?
  10. Damn - i need to slap a watch on my wrist soon and post a pic. Question is, which watch.
  11. Had one many moons ago - soon after it came out. As BT pointed out in his review, there were like 4 or so different versions all based on different movements. I had an 21j movement, wore it a few times, and parted with it. Its a nice dress watch, but at the time, wasnt something that i was wearing all that often. So, sold it.
  12. "The Varny guy was beside himself as he didn't think anyone wore a watch anymore." What an idiot. The watch industry is what - a billion dollar industry. Last time i checked, it didnt disappear. I could understand the host stating that no one uses a VCR, but not wearing a watch? Come on...what an ass. As for the name - being half greek, we pronounce it as Oh - MAA - Ga. So, that is how i will always pronounce it.
  13. Beautiful....one of the few watches where i prefer the white dial over the black dial. Stunning.
  14. Not a PO case - but just the bracelet. The case is a closed factory SMP. But that gives me a good idea...wondering what a SMP 2254 would look like in a PO v4/v5 case. Hmmm.....
  15. I believe i have seen others who put a gen bezel on their Chronos - atleast the insert. I know that there have been different variations/versions of the chrono models - so not sure if the case construction changed over the years.
  16. Where's the pics ?!?!?!? Gonna try to get to the hobby shop by me to see which blue (should be a faint bluish color) that they have available.
  17. Just posted in the Friday Wristies....but wanted to post in the Omega section as well. My Franken Electric Blue consisting of: - Gen Dial (used, but in excellent condition) - Gen Hands - Double A/R Crystal (from the 42mm PO v5) Sold my previous version to Namor, but was able to build another one. Still need some work (repaint the bezel number and source the speedy bracelet as this one currently has the PO bracelet).
  18. How about a blast from the past - the ever coveted closed SMP - Electric Blue. Modded it with a gen dial, hands and double A/R crystal (from a 42mm PO v5).
  19. Ha ha ha....needed a good laugh today.
  20. Always fun making your own pieces (from leftover parts). My Ceramic 14060 On the Wrist Non-wrist shot
  21. Jeff- one of my favorites as well. Glad to see some of the classic Omegas.... BTW - why the white datewheel?
  22. What kind of movement is this? If its a 21j movement - not worth taking the movement apart - just buy a new movement (will come with a new stem) which costs about $25.
