  1. Stephane, I'm very upset All the latest watches I loved have been judged unsufficient by you How about the screws quality ? Still interested in a comparison with my chinese thingie ? Or is it already sold ?
  2. Mmm... that's not the question really. Easy it is, for the manufacturer. And I'm sure I'll find a dozen of candidates doing this here for 300 bucks... K2222 kindly proposed me recently to pop up the crystal for me without additionnal cost, during one of his AR runs. And I'll do it, sooner or later.
  3. Actually it's 42mm without the crown. And it wears bigger due to its non-round shape. You're right, the brcelet makes half the watch...
  4. Hi, the total diameter without crown is
  5. Love the way your collection is displayed. Excellent idea I'm going to use
  6. A small bump before a review, this week-end if everything's fine. Yum yum, this quartz Tag is indeed what I have been hoping.
  7. Mademoiselle V, I could not have expressed it better, your words really reflect my own mind (some sort of telepathy accross the Ocean ..? ) This VC on your wrist commands respect indeed, and...desire, or is it just jealousy ? I'd love the same one, especially if they did it in gold.
  8. Wow... Your comments make me feel like it's Christmas in November Thank you Madame... Speaking of my World, I was not thinking of my country, or any geographical situation in fact, but more to my direct neighborhood : office and business contacts.
  9. Hi Folks, I have been playing with my new toy for two weeks now, and it's time for me to share my feelings on the Vacheron Constantin Malte Chronographe. Where did I buy it ? As most of my latest purchases, I bought this rep from my favorite seller on iOffer...I suppose there's no problem to name him, as he now also is an apprentice dealer here on this very board : Watchmark. Until now he has always supplied what I have been requesting, even if not in his listings, and I had 0 defect/discrepancy. His communication is ultra-fast (I think he does not sleep) and he's basically a kind person. Those dealing with him will surely notice that he's really willing to make transactions as smooth as possible. For the rest, I leave it to your own judgement, as I do not want to blindly recommend a person and be held responsible for any future bad transaction (as it happens with anyone). That rep can be purchased for around 200 USD shipped. How did I choose the watch ? Well, it is now more than obvious that I love what Vacheron Constantin is doing. Hate or love the Granpa's style, but VC modells are definitely dressy classy watches, which you will wear without fear for any formal occasion or at the office. I own / have owned the following : Overseas, Retrograding Calendar, Royal Eagle Tonneau and this Malte Chronographe. None has been disappointing, on the contrary, and all have had a good level of finishing/replication as well as a very (I mean very) reasonable price. Funny, when you think about the price level of the real thing... How is it as a watch ? As already suggested, it is very well finished. Supposed to be white gold plated, but I must say I was not able to make the difference with my mirror polished SS watches, unlike my PATEK PHILIPPE 5070 (also WG plated) which really looks different. It comes with an alligator pattern strap, which I replaced by my good old friend (it's its 3rd rep !), a genuine alligator chestnut strap, with curved ends and a deployant clasp. I simply love it, and the more I wear it, the most beautiful it gets. Maybe i'm too demanding, but I can't use the rep straps out of the box, they do not meet my requirements. The VC strap has been recycled somewhere in Austria, and it seems it made a lady happy The dial is gorgeous : a mix of white, off-white and silver (subdials) colours, highlighted by the guilloche texture. Blue digits, markers and hands. A perfect balance. Not too much, not to few. My favorite part is definitely the movement : the famous (hand-winding) Seagull ST-19, copy of the Venus 175, mistakenly called Lemania by many dealers. Whatever it is called, it's just beautiful. It's my second watch with this movement, the first (PATEK 5070) having proven to keep accurate time, a decent power reserve (almost 48 hours), and the same effect always when I hand the watch to someone : wow ! And yes, it's a "wow movement". Unlike my PATEK, the chrono runs smoothly, no stuttering at all. The crown winds smoothly. Probably a better lubrication. Sapphire glass on both sides. Engravings are sharp and I have nothing special to comment there. The disappointing point (to some extent) is the crown : it's a screw-down crown, but it's a bit hard to screw (I suppose some silicone should help), but before all I find it a bit too big. Well, I'm probably a bit demanding The shots And how is it as a rep ? I'm almost sure the manufacturer is the same as for my PATEK 5070, as I have the very same feeling : a very well finished watch which reflects the spirit of the genuine thing, but which has a lot of small flaws which don't make it an accurate replication (which basically I don't care so much, as VC is totally unknown in the World I live in... ) Here's a non exhaustive list of the differences : - of course the movement is far from the original, but as mentionned, it does not make the watch ugly - the dial texture and color is not correct. Off-white against white, and silver subdial against white - I was thinking that the ST-19 did not allow a correct placement of the chrono subdials (as for the PATEK5070), but in fact I changed my opinion : the problem does not come from the hands positions, but from the dial diameter. The rep is 40 mm against 41,5 for the gen, so automatically the subdials are at a wrong position. This reduced diameter also prevents the 9 and 3 markers to be present. I've been wondering about why they chose this solution : the answer might be that the manufacturer uses the same case for several models, including my former VC with retrograding calendar. - the height seems correct, i.e. 11 mm - the crown is wrong (shape and depth), the pushers are more or less faithful to the gen. - the digits/markers are blue against dark grey, but in normal lighting, it is not that obvious Conclusion Not so good in details, but the overall look and accuracy are pretty good and, most important, it breathes the high quality watch. I write it everytime I can : for me the feeling given by a replica is more important that its level of replication. We have here an excellent example. The VC Malte Chronographe is definitely worth the money and I have no reluctance in advising this modell to anyone looking for a dressy watch, provided that you hunt for a nice strap to dress the thing... Oh, and I forgot... Here's a wristshot (for Mademoiselle Victoire)
  10. Update on Nov 10th - cleared the YG Trias : finally could sell it on the Bay. - added my B&R BR01-92 with custom strap - added my Vacheron Constantin Malte Chronographe Reviews/pictorials in preparation : Vacheron Constantin Malta Chrono (ST-19) and an unusual quartz rep of the mighty TAG Aquaracer...
  11. Better to remove the caseback then...
  12. The Acetone for nails is in fact a soft thinner that contains very few acetone (fortunately for our ladies ) Acetone should be the one used for varnishes or painting, i.e. pure one.
  13. That's more expensive than my lite version (PVD coated SS bezel) itself...It's meaningless Oh, and an other point : - my lite HBB = 250 USD - double AR coating = 55 USD from K2222 - this "gen" (or call it like you want) bezel = 288 USD TOTAL = 593 USD, let's say 600 USD "Ready to use" HBB with ceramic bezel from PC or TT = 968 USD Still anyone believing that the "full" HBB was is not a scam ? Since the light version has been out, there was this doubt about why HBB reps were so expensive : movement ? AR ? Bezel ? Now we know... And it's none of the above 3.
  14. You can find the Miyota 8215 at Ofrei : http://www.ofrei.com Costs 36 dollars, i.e. not expensive. It's indeed a normal step to have the watch repaired by the dealer... But I don't want to be negative in the post, but we have often seen "repairs" that had no result. (understand what you want to ) Better to negociate a refund or as you said, a credit on the next purchase. Ideally find a watchsmith to do the swap. I know, not that easy...
  15. Exactly, they deserve this hommage, as that's an original way to show our wrists
  16. We have your sharp eloquence as well... Posted a part of myself too, which I usually don't do... Girls (and boys), don't ask for more, hai capito ?!
  17. That was the missing strap on this watch ! I was not aware it was possible to find racing straps over 22mm... Good news, and great combo.
  18. Probably yes, but the job might be longer, as you won't be able to soak the thing into acetone.
  19. Hi, why not use Acetone ? It does not affect (plain) steel and should remove any type of ink / varnish. It is highly recommended to remove the caseback first, so that Acetone does not affect any other soft or non metallic part.
  20. @REK : well it IS big... But I've learnt not to be disturbed by this anymore, as long as it's a sporty watch. I would say it has the same size feeling as the Hublot on the wrist. Curiously, the SFSO which is 1 mm larger wears smaller. And yes, you'll see that I kept most of the reps I bought over there. @Milleliglia : well, from the beginning I knew I was not buying an accurate one. But it definitely looks great. My brown SLR is also a fantasy TAG, but always has success. Because it's "credible" : it looks like a high quality watch , and for me this will always be the first criteria. Is this watch credible on my wrist and can I hand it without fear ? If the caseback of the 7750 is plain steel, which I do believe, Acetone should remove anything... But it's highly recommended to remove the caseback first, not to be in contact with the rest of the parts. Again, I'll review the thing more in detail after my head cooled down
