  1. Hi all, that's my first contribution to this part of the boards : after 6 months collecting reps, I have finally done the step and bought my first PAM. I must say that I was not a fan the first time I saw Panerai watches. But day by day, reading the stories, looking at all the modding possibilities and huge choice of straps (I'm a leather fan ), I had to get one. I first looked for a 40 mm model, thinking of my small wrist. But after I tried one, I had to accept that a PAM MUST be big, otherwise it's not a PAM So how did I choose the 112 ? Easy : I looked for a simple one, and choosing an inexpensive model I did not want to go into trouble with seconds at 9. I naturally came to a Chinese 6497, which, as far as I understood, is not a bad movement. And not only seing the technical aspect, I found it to be a good rep of the original movement (nothing new to you I guess). Finally, I don't like the date magnification, not only in PAMs, but for any watch. Question of personal taste. Then the 112 became an obvious choice. I had only few ideas about the flaws on PAMs, that's why I did not consider these things while choosing my watch from Silix. 110 bucks, I know it's far from perfect, but like it and that watch currently has more wristtime than expected. Which I DO appreciate with PAMs is the large choice for buckles and straps. I just forgot the one that came with the rep, and chose the one you see on *bay. Same for the buckle. Well, I realize now I have been a bit enthusiastic on this buckle, as it's really huge sized ! That won't be the main strap : I ordered a vintage custom made one on *bay too. I'll post pics upon receipt : the price seems so low that I do not want to disclose anything before I have seen the result. But if it's as promising as the pics I saw, I am most sure that the seller might become rich soon if I name him to this boards members ! I'm not skilled enough to point out the flaws on this 112. I'd like to learn them actually. So any comment is welcome. I know about the canon pin issue ; I have to live with it, as fixing it will cost me the watch's price. I have a mineral crystal (checked with water drop test) with no AR. Now, tell me about the crown and the dial Here are the pics, I hope some will enjoy them as I do. The holy lume shot ! What's the consensus on this movement ? I got it with the Panerai markings, but I removed the stickers (I hope that's not a sin) because I found the thing quite wrong against the gen. The crownguard is a bit loose when opened. Silix is sending a new one. I hope I can change the thing easily.
  2. Updated 26th may. - My first PAM : a 112H with manual winding (waiting a custom strap for june) : finally I entered this yard, which I never thought some time ago... - Just received a Seiko with Quartz Kinetic movement : a Quartz movement that gets its energy from your wrist movement. Some kind of hybrid between Quartz and auto - Updated overview - no choice, a second watchwinder on its way !
  3. I like the Maserati a lot (of course, the others too) : it seems it's difficult to find the rep these days. BTW, which brand did Elvis wear ? (or does he wear, depending on hich side of the fans you belong)

    Rep Mont Blanc

Hi, I found the Copernicus rep pretty good, and heavy, unlike many rep pens. I bought one some time ago and have 3 remarks : - the nib is acceptable but as on your pics, far from reality. I would advise the roller, as it takes original refills. The "Paris" mention is a bad idea on a German pen. - the Star logo is not plain white but there are various shades of white (due to the ink used), which make it look fancy. But most people won't notice it - box and manual are ... *cough*... POS ! But for the price, it's not bad at all.
  5. Very nice, thanks for sharing. Missing a bit of leather I would say... I wish Hublot was not that expensive. Hopefully the price will drop once there are more newer super-reps on the market.
  6. Something different today.
  7. Well, nothing original globally...but very new for me : my first PAM ever, a simple 112. Custom made strap on its way.... In the meantime, I chose something sober and stitchless. I changed my mind a lot about PAMs since I tried one a month ago (but it was defective), now I do enjoy wearing it at least as much as my Steelfish (which is currently my favorite one).
  8. Yeah ! That's the answer I was waiting for ! So, the Cousteau Diver seems to be flawless (except these date alignment thingies)
  9. I obviously asked the bad way I have a Tag SLR with an inside rotating bezel (as the IWC actually has - see my signature) The problem is that when you set it at a certain position (with the pusher at 9), any small touch to the same pusher will immediately end in the bezel moving. So my question could be : how hard/loose does the bezel rotate and stay in place ? Lovepanerai, can you answer that for me ?
  10. Hi, for the first PP Highflyingclive mentionned, I did a short review (see the link in my signature : PP 5070). It's a nice and very classy watch indeed. Some flaws however, it's far from perfect. On the other hand, noone is likely to point that out in "normal life", as noone knows Patek Here's a quick comparison shot.
  11. Is the rotating bezel not too loose ?
  12. The VC Tourbi is the one I'm dreaming of... But 900 bucks is unaffordable for me, as it is most risky in case of problems. Deepsa, if you want to got to dressy and very classical, why not this one ? 38mm and inexpensive rep.
  13. Hi, received the PAM today. It is slightly more than 42, in no case 44... Lugs are standard (24). I am ordering a decent strap, and will post pictures upon receipt.
  14. Good to know, thx for the update. As particularly this picture was worrying me a bit :
  15. Congratulations ! The hands seem very well aligned unlike some I could see on the boards. Is it the picture or really like this ? Date is straight too I wish it was not so expensive, the more I look at it, the more hypnotized i am...zzZZZzzz
  16. Hi, what about a Vacheron Constantin Overseas ? 42 mm however, but very thin.
  17. I got it from Trusty. You just have to ask him before you order the watch. It's finally much better than the leather strap (which I have for sale).
  18. Hi REK001, I have what I consider to be a small wrist : 17,5 cm (6,8 inches) I hesitated a while before buying a "large" watch, as I usually go between 38 and 42 mm diameter. The dial of the Steelfish is pretty small compared to its overall diameter, so visually it's not as large. I chose the SS bracelet as it's more wrapping the wrist (at least it's my feeling). I did the same when I bought my Tag SLR. And I feel the solution is not bad.
  19. No ultimate version coming ?
  20. Can you tell us if all dials work and what's the size ?
  21. My question is : what to do ? And can a community that has no leaders be organized (I mean in general, not only talking about rep boards). And as Teddy Boy mentions, can an underground activity aim a general interest amongst a sum of individual various interests ? I would so much like to be able to have an influence on that business. But do you think there's a way ?
  22. Hi, the dealer? who told you that forgot to mention that you have to jump on your left leg at the same time. Works better when it's full moon.
  23. I'd buy one too. Not sure if it's so huge. Look at the strap. Does not seem so small compared to the rest. Ovoid shapes allow quite large watches, without making them look massive, thnaks to a reasonnable height. I have a Festina which has such a shape, and it finally looks not so big. The doubt is : which movement ? And no dummy feature ?
  24. Hi, you can find Trias watches on *bay, they are cheap (usually less than 80 EUR). I bought mine on *bay Germany. Just do a search. I even got the golden plated one for 54 EUR ! For the watchwinder, *bay.de too. They are nicely finished, I advise buying models with 2 wheels, max 3 wheels. 4 Wheels is too much : there's only one motor, so the more watches, the more possible problems and noise occuring. Here too, they're cheap (count with 100 EUR in average). I'll PM you the seller's name. Regards.
  25. That makes sense. On the other hand, Silix has many watches you don't see elsewhere. He confirmed the diameter twice, I trust he did a minimum of search before answering. Anyway, that will be clarified soon.
