  1. Is the Watch not keeping time? I have a 2824 that shows crazy readings a lot like that..... then I sat the time on it, put it on winder and checked the time every 72hrs and to my surprise it’s keeping time within about 12 sec day compared to my iPad, so that is acceptable by any standard.

I guess what I am trying to say is timegraph reading will and can drive you crazy at times!

I've used a lot of gen date wheels on a yuki under a gen dial. Never had any problems. Several gen parts will fit the yuki

I don't recall the teeth being painted on the gen date wheel. Maybe some are. The dial is not gen for sure

All gen date wheels are painted solid white teeth and all!

    Good project!

I have been thinking about a tutone sapphire submariner project for a long time.  :g:

For anyone wanting a 'low budget' tutone sapphire 16613 type submariner...an ST case and 18k bezel will cost less than a steel 5513/1680 Yuki case.

ST case and 18k bezel = $625.  Add an insert, dial, hands, case tube, crystal, and crown + choice of movement.  A genuine dial could sink the project so you will need to shop around.  I could probably live with a 'refinished' dial from JKtimepiece on eBay or something similar.  If you went with an swisseta 28xx, a finished timehead could come in around $1000 to $1200.

Add a thick padded Croc strap and a big gold buckle and awaaay you go.  :pimp:

I made (by lost wax casting) a few 18mm heavy 14k gold buckles a few years ago when gold was a little over $300/troz and they came in around $30 each dead cost.  Now they would be maybe $120 or so but still not too bad.  Most genuine rolex type solid gold buckles are skinny (gold saving construction) and only 16mm wide.  Thick padded straps usually have 18mm or 20mm buckles so that is why I made some buckles.

I just now weighed the buckles:  One 14k solid 18mm buckle and tongue set = 4.7 grams.  One 16mm solid 14k buckle and tongue set = 2.2 grams.  No spring bars included.  Gold is around $1250 troz so the 4.7 gram 14k buckles would cost approximately $110 USD to make today + labor and casting supplies.  Be looking at $175 to $200 each from someone you know.  Jewelry store price around $400.

I would be interested in one for sure

if you're sinking all this money into a project like this why not get the dial relumed properly first?

Have you got someone that will do relumes in USA? Send me in right direction?

But if you are going to do a two tone I believe it need to be as close as possible to gen so the 28-- movement is out of the question. Add in for the gen hands, crown, so on ..... but also if you go bracelet these projects will cost at least $3,000 plus but consider the cost of gen they are going as high as 10,000 for a good specimen and low end junk is still as much as 7,500 to 8,500 so they are a bargain if you want true wearable two tone!!

Just the crown and bezel is almost 1 grand!IMG_1716.thumb.JPG.826a98b876c108f4235e8f0d13aeb680.JPGIMG_1714.thumb.JPG.f5d0b0ec097b8888696995ba4e2d7878.JPGIMG_1715.thumb.JPG.a3a501c392812501e31620ad82dc7905.JPG

This is Dial and have 2 inserts to choose from. The dial has been relumed kind of shitty job but the color is fabulous and these are not cheap so it is what it is. The bracelet has gen spring bars, gen end links, aftermarket bracelet, gen clasp to match the 1996-97 era SS only clasp so should be really nice.

The movement will be Yuki with most all gen parts. So stay tuned!

Always great to get the lowdown on who is good. Those builds look tasty, what are the specs please?

    They are as follows

ST case for the tritium build, Yuki movement with gen rotor assembly complete, gen date wheel, TC bezel, all else gen.

TC case for luminova build, Yuki movement gen rotor assembly complete, gen date wheel, all else gen on this one.

Have gen bracelet for the luminova build and franken bracelet for the tritium build.

i have sunk ton of time and money in these puppy's!!

Stay tuned for the Blue boy build all real gold parts bracelet and all. This is getting started this week!

  6. The OP is obvious new here so instead of tarring and feathering him lets try and educate him on how things work!

This was obviously not the best way to handle this issue but gutting a newb is not quite warranted!

OP no Andrew is not a polite chap at all but he will help you out and there is always flaws even with the super reps if QC doesn't satisfy you reject and ask for another if none satisfy ask for refund very simple!

  7. I bought that off DEL, is your strap a deploy or buckle ...truly deployment strap needs short side to be at least 20mm longer than usual in my experience to get deployment buckle itself to sit right under my wrist!! deployment buckles are convenient but I don't think are as comfy!!

There is also the 301, 237 and there is one more I will have to research it forget model I will find it!

  8. very much so Mine will be here in few days "fingers crossed" when it arrives I will do in depth review versus noob....h factories offerings!   but the pig on this dial is so close can't tell without magnification so we will see..still needs movement mods to look Gen but that is easy to get done!

  9. The Kuva is certainly impressive looking

I still think they could well be same watch , its just very different photography

Do you really think there would be different versions of this watch ? Given that Angus, Toro or Sean even seem to carry it

    Check out Rollis

and whats going on with the canon pin? on the Kuva?

  10. if I may, the giveaways are:

    - fonts on the 4 liner,

    - position of "Swiss Made" ( should sit evenly on the right and left @6 with no minute markers underneath "SWISS" and "MADE")

    - the minute markers

    sorry to inform sir but

1.the markers under swiss made is not a problem on the sea dweller from what the gen looks like they have it

2.different yrs and runs of dials also had different fonts

3.now markers do have fat silver surrounds nothing to do about that

  11. Is Phong still trust worthy he doesn't sell on the bay any longer and if memory serves I may be wrong but didn't quite a few have troubles getting products from him? Just a question because he has few things I would buy if i knew for sure!!??
