Finally finished - pictures shortly !!!
-
This watch is really growing on me.......... man I like it.
-
if it hits a ceramic floor just right BOOM...... Just like the Gen an explosion, chipping or nothing at all,
I've had 3 IWC TG, and have owned 3 others and only have chipped one of them, and it was that bad.......
-
So finally got it back, Set the time, adjusted the GMT, & Date. After 2 days the watch is within 1-2 seconds of the Colorado Web Atomic, The Watch looks fantastic with the new band !
Speedy did an excellent job on this project. Now I have a spare 2893-1 and a spare 2893-2, I'm thinking of using 2893-1 into a sub build. Just not use the rotating 24 function.
This movement is so much nicer than the clunky 2824/36. The smoothness of a wind, the delicacy of the rotor movement, the sweep of the seconds...............
-
I should probably just stick with the standard DW or spin watch. I'm not that OCD about mm differences in watches as long as it feels high quality. The strap vs the bracelet should solve that issue.
OCD is truly CDO if you really have it........
-
test fit - H5 kit going in...........
-
This project has beed with Ed for 6 months my request, ITS NO GREAT RUSH, I know he's taken a lot of metal off the back of the dial, He stated it'll be a project to make it right I told him to Take His Time.
If you look at pic #2 you can get a very good idea how the hand stack. and it appears none of the hands will be bent and it'll clear the indices, My fingers are crossed,
Additionallly H5 vcan be used if it'll clear the crystal. 2893-2 movement.
-
Here is the soon to be completed 2893 Rolex Project, Ed - SpeedyG is doing all the work, getting the fit finish all the right parts and custom build is the important part of this Project.
What do you Guys Think ?
Its the latest NOOB dial, thicker indices, and Bright Lume, case is BP with green GMT Master II, However the 24 hour is Red, This will be fixed at a later date.
Checkout that custom built movement ring from bulk 6061 bar stock !
I've said it before - Speedy G is Fantastic, And does great work.!!!
-
another week or 2, and it'll be ready to show off..........
-
intersting watch
-
Still looking for that elusive 2893-2 Panerai Rotor........................
-
I've been looking for this for some time with my 029 conversion - a few subjects down.....
-
Are you going to paint the bezel numerals
I'd thought about masking off the area around the numbers and lazer etch them, still nice and crisp.
-
look in the bottom right corner
a few extra's to go with it.

yes compared to another dial I have, it does have a little more of that yelllow cast to it, Not so green,
Thanks for the kinds words guys,
Never thought I'd fall for a Rep like this.....
Insane to pump better than a grand into it already,,
Wish I had a better crystal and Gen hands and a Gen Rotor. Well the search continues..........
-
Well I received some part today from bulgari, I hoped the case would have been blacker, But this is what I received,
-
I sent a really nice case set out to DLC - Still waiting the return. Hope it get here & looks as good as the pics. Very expensive process.
The Lume was completed by Kent Parks on the dial & hands,
I have a new 2893-2 mvmt and all the H5 parts needed, hard part was finding the close to perfect date wheel, happened upon a 2892-1 black date and really nice crisp heavy font
I've decided to go with a open back to show off the 2893-2 and make this unit unique
-
I had the same issue, its was $110 or a little more late last year same problem, I wanted a tear down & lube and repair and most of cleaning, I received a non work Dssd back.

Is this easy to fix ?
-
I pick both dials here last week in the parts section from a mate in NZ, keep you up to date with the build.
-
I've got the parts to use any mvmt, 28XX, 7750, 6496....
This Pencil grey DLC case, what looks best too you guys ???
-
This watch is just about complete, I purchased it several months ago and decided to do a bit of a Franken to it, I have a GEN IWC titanium crown, little larger than the GEN /Rep, looks and fit great.
I also added a Swiss 7750 movement, Should have all the parts back in it and the hands back on, the test fit look really good and the new pusher fits firmly. Crazy how much you can drop into a watch getting it to look and feel good.
Just about ready to Send in for Building... PAM029 DLC
