  1. Yeah looks like you are correct- I checked my EL 3717 and it DOES have the new hi beat 7750- While the other reps seem to have the older version- interesting. Absolutely no AR on mine though... My version runs dead-on accurate...
  2. Payback's a [censored]...
  3. Well you all know the drill- Pay to much Wait too long No reply to emails Then the other dealers have it for 20% less....
  4. Price is THE ONLY THING- That's why we buy these not so accurate, not so reliable, not so waterproof watches form not-so-honest guys in Not-so-democratic China- isn't it?? Otherwise we'd buy gens.
  5. Yeah same with me- But relax- I doubt IWC has a standing injunction with US Customs like Rolex, Panerai etc. It's not a counterfeit watch- It's a watch misapproriating someone else's registered trademark. If you had a steamer trunk full of them even if it's a new brand that no one had ever heard of- they'd confiscate them because then you were in the business of importing counterfeit goods. Custom only can get involved at the port if you are "Smuggling"- So if the documents say "Childs toy" and there's a wristwatch inside- they'll bill you (And me) for the retail value of that item- so we'd owe several hundred dollars in tax or admit that it's a replica which may or may not get it confiscated. Probably just slow customs.
  6. Yeah but Chad's not wrong really- If we were all buying $50 Canal street stuff- Like the Silix cheapo stuff then we'd have no reason to [censored]- They'd just be costune jewelry for men. But at $200 or close to FOUR HUNDRED bucks which is what this IWC costs a lot fo people who bought em- you really should expect a pretty frickin clean piece. I mean that'll buy you one hell of an Ipod or a 32" HDTV LCD TV or a Garmin GPS. So I think the $400 IS well spent on this IWC- It'll look bitching, and my experience with the new 7750's is they're pretty reliable. If I get a couple of years out of it beautiful- A Gen would need a servicing at that point for aorund $500-$600. Instead I'll throw mine away and buy the latest and greatest rep. And yes both of my gen 80's Porsche design Orfina watches both have the crooked Day wheel.
  7. Wel you know- they're not "Fake" watches. They're real watches, which are built to be near identical replicas of "Name" brand watches. Strip off the logo and you could sell any of these watches on ebay for double or triple what we pay- all day long. Gen watches have issues- plenty. ALL mechanical watches have issues, period. I have had my gen Tag, Omega and Panerai watches serviced within their warranty period due to things like date wheel stuck, running 12 minutes slow a day, second hand falling off, rough grindy winding mechaism etc. Any product made in China that is a fraction of the cost of the "Name" brand will be a lower quality item. If you want to buy one good watch and wear it for 20 years- I think Tourneau is a better starting point than Wo-Mart.
  8. Yeah i asked EL and he gave me a price for both straps- I just want the "IWC" buckle and will put that on a quality strap. The watch looks so industrial it might look cool on a Panerai strap nothced to fit??
  9. Wow looks good- Strap not making it for me but Mine is ordered with strap and bracelet. For the dates- I find on these it's better to set them a day or two short and then cycle the hands through till you hit the correct day/date setting- that seems to center them fairly well. EL communication glitches notwithstanding- I'm excited to see mine this week!
  10. No hurry- never the issue- It takes what it takes. I inquire about the watch- PM in TEN MINUTES. I ask about price- Email is ONE HOUR. I ask about adding some other items- Email in ONE HOUR Up to the second I send payment he answer quickly. One second after payment- he ignores you. Persistent emails?? Four emails over four weeks. I've bought nearly 50 reps, and even the really bad communicators eventually let you know what's up. I paid- Made sure he got the right address- no reply. Let it slide for two weeks- emailed asking if he had the right address, and what's up with shipping time- No hurry. 7 days no reply- i email again, nothing- Then I post here. He emails tracking, and confirms the wrong address- oh brother. So no big deal. Never feared he was ripping me off- not sure where you got that from. It's just this ridiculous defending of these dealers- as if you had met them and they were your friends. When I send my money off to some Canadian guy in China or some Chinese guy in Canada I would expect just the normal courtesy- "Got the dough, watch is delayed, hang tight." Is that TOO MUCH to ask?? Hope the watch is cool, and hope EL fixes whatever problems are bedeviling him.
  11. Well my tracking # indicates the watch just shipped- So should see it by end of the week or early next week. Never a doubt that EL would come through- and for those who are cool with ZERO communications then good for you. But I hope the watch is great, and good luck to you Eddie. Since I have other vendors who deliver both wuality goods and excellent communication, I'll vote with my feet.
  12. Same here- But he has found time to update his Photobucket account- just won't give me a straight answer- If its delayed- FINE- just tell me.
  13. Yeah but that's not really fair- EL respods within MINUTES when you need to pay him, then after he has the money he NEVER replies again. Ultimately a watch shows up and everyone just forgets about it. Regardless the situation- that's basic disrespect for his customers.
