  1. Thinking out of the (watch) box!
  2. OK, the crisis is over. The 0000 seel wool did the trick in about 60 seconds. Thanks for the help. It's probably much cleaner now as well.
  3. Thanks for the feedback... The links I can imagine straight, short lines on but I'm not sure how to brush the bezel... Because it's round and one big solid piece.
  4. FYI, in case anyone else finds this thread, be very, very carful. I just took the brushed effect off and on another thread they're telling me how to put it back since I polished off so much metal.
  5. but it's Movement: Swiss Eta 2836-2 Automatic Modified movement, Omega insignia on Rotor, GMT Hand independently Adjustable. will it fit the 2836-2?
  6. F'ing hilarious. I used so much autosol, I don't know what I was thinking... You wouldn't believe how much I used.
  7. Polishing - did I ruin my brushed Tag? So I got my Autosol in the mail today, and I went to town on my Tag Chrono... I couldn't believe how much dirt came off.... It was black and it just kept coming and coming... But then all of the sudden it started to shine so much... It lost the brushed effect. Now I have a shiny polished Tag Chrono Heuer, and it doesn't look very good. It looks totally wrong. Can I get it back to brushed?? This sucks. Who heard of a polished Tag Chrono bracelet?
  8. He said: " The genuine is using a 2892 equivalent calibre modify to be co axial driven.. The rep is 2824.. The dial feets must be different.." So, I just ordered the chrono instead. Win some, loose some.
  9. That's awesome! Here's the letter I sent to my dealer just now: "Man I think I found a GREAT solution to my obsession, I mean problem. I will but a GEN dial!!!! can you please make sure this gen dial (Omega Dials Caliber 1120) will fit my GMT rep???: http://www.ofrei.com/page1105.html I'll buy it right away and be very happy with the watch as long as I know it will fit. I'd hate to waste $150 because it doesn't fit the rep GMT"
  10. Ok, I figured it all out... After reading so many posts and seeing the pictures, I think the SMP chono is going to be the only one that will make me happy since I'm such a freak for details (undiagnosed OCD I'm sure) because a) the wave pattern is correct and the dial has white, not silver borders around the markers. Phew. ...But then again maybe a therapist (ha ha) will be cheaper... This will be my 4th rep in a couple weeks.
  11. If I buy the cheap version can I have the movement replaced with my oiled ETA? (do you know if it will be an exact fit?) How's the bracelet on the Cheap GMT?
  12. ..That looks perfect. My $375 (with oil and shipping) ETA SMP GMT dial does not look like that. It's flat with painted waves. No bevel, not at all raised. I'm pondering what to do with it. Junk it? It really bugs me. But how do I know if the replacement I buy will not have the same problem? The dealer pictures don't show the dials off very well... From member pictures I think the 2005 Asian SMP will have the correct dial, and I also think the new SMP Chrono will have the right dial. I'm sure my dealer will give me a break on the replacement. He's been very good to me, even though it's not his fault (he doesn't make them, does he?)
  13. My Blue SMP GMT has flat waves, no bevel. I'm going to have to order the SMP Chrono just to get the realistic looking waves with raised (beveled), glossy wave patterns. After comparing the GMT to a real SMP dial it just lost all the magic for me and I don't like wearing it anymore. From what I can read here and from the pictures I can tell the Chrono has the correct dial. I'm surprised I haven't heard more about the wave pattern discrepancy with the reps, it makes all the difference to me to get that dial right.
  14. Someone in my office has the SMP gen and since I just got the rep in the mail, I did a side by side... The overall size looked different, weight, thickness, basically everything, but just a little... The biggest difference were the waves. I can barely see the waves on mine, and his were very noticeable. I wish I hadn't compared them because now I don't like my rep as much. My Tag link chrono looks just like the gen, but this one doesn't.
  15. It's totally fine. No problem at all.
  16. I don't know but when mine came it sounded very close to the gen. I'm very happy with it.
  17. I ordered it. I love this list!
  18. I compared, if only briefly, my rep link chrono against the gen (brand new in the store) and the only difference I noticed was the "shininess" of the gen... The gen seemed to catch the light better and was more brilliant.... Mine looked like it had been worn in comparison. The dealer didn't seem to flinch or ask any questions when I compared the "blue one" with my "black one". Then I tried the Carrera on which I ordered next from Joshua whos's been very good to me, but that's neither here nor there... My question is why is the gen shinier? Is it because the polish it before it goes on display or oil it lightly or something? Or is it simply better stainless steel material?
  19. I'm VERY confused.... I've been reading all day (obsessed, I know) about this topic trying to figure out if the Tag Link Chronograph SS I ordered is going to irritate me or not with the spinning sensation (the wrrrr) on my wrist like the cheap reps the sell on the street in Thailand did. Yesterday I went to Macy's to try on the gen Tag Link Chronograph and it was totally fine. I didn't notice the spinning at all so I decided to purchase the rep, but now I read that Asian 7750 do make the spinning wrrrrrrrs? According to some of you, the Asian 7750 is the same as the swiss 7750... If the rep Asian Tag Chrono is identical to the gen Tag Chrono I will not mind, or even feel the spinning... Can anyone tell me if the spinning will be the same or not? I'm too impatient to just wait for it to com e in the mail and find out for myself. Thanks
  20. What about Asia 7750 Valjoux Working Chronograph movement? The watch I just ordered from Josh, Tag Link Chronograph SS Black has Asia 7750, and the one I plan to buy next, Omega Seamaster 300m Professional Chrono SS Blue uses the same movement as well. I went to Macy's yesterday to try both originals on and I didn't feel the winding at all. They felt, looked great. If the reps are the same I'll be very happy. I guess I'll find out soon enough though because the Tag is in the mail by now.
  21. My one other question though is that some of the automatic reps ($60 versions) I tried on had uncomfortable spinning/winding sensations when you walked... I could feel the watch winding when I walked and it was very irritation. This of course won't happen with a Swiss ETA & Valjoux version right? And I imagine the original watches don't do this but I never wore one?
  22. That would be fun, I could bring my Thai reps... For "worst in class" of course, although probably better not. I'm sure you've all seen bad reps before.
  23. I was so overwhelmed with all the sites I was looking at yesterday I didn't even read any of the posts before I posted mine (something I try not to do at new forms!) Anyway, after only reading for 10 min or so, I'm confident Andrew or josh will be able to sell me exactly what I'm looking for! I think this company bestswiss.com is trying to sell the same watches for $850. At least the pictures look the same. Anyone know? I've attached a picture from bestswiss.com
  24. I was reffering to other sites actually, sorry for not making that clear. I guess I should read.
  25. Hi, I just got back from Thailand with a couple watches of rather poor quality and I'm looking to upgrade. The pictures all look good on the internet, and everyone's saying every one else is a scammer? so I'd really just rather be able to see them in person. I live in san francisco and I'm looking for Omega Seamaster/Speedmaster or Tag Link watches. 2nd hand is ok too. Thanks!
