  1. Ihooq, thank you for the comments!

Definitely all text is quite off (crooked), unequal. Even the 6 & 9 numbers are off.

The end parts of the numbers do not end horizontal but with some strange angle.

I have curiously browsed the market offers on the bay to see what new has popped and found the upper shared.

No intention to buy any of the offers on the bay.

Though gen dials do pop on the bay every now and then for bidding and can be snapped at a price lower than that which we see on the dials that never sell.

  2. It is a long lasting issue with those over simplified Explorer dials.

Prices are insane for genuine used/ old stock service dials.

Aftermarket options are pretty good by now but not that close to the old service dials and still a tell for those who know where to look.

And those gen dials at the upper price range tend to rest for a long time on the sales corner (Bay or elsewhere).

Their extremely steep price is not being paid! That is for sure.

But then some "gems" tend to pop up every now and then at a "reasonable price".

Used genuine dials at the mid price range meaning 600-700 $.

Now is one of those moments. We are talking about this tritium SINGER dial.

Though, I seem to be a bit sceptical about some details! Meaning this dial might be a quite good redial?

Let´s see if someone else would notice them?

  3. Feet should work with eta.

Sent from my droptop using telepathy.

Explorer dials from Yuki do not have the option of ETA feet, the feet are for 1570 movements.

A year ago Yuki did not have those dials with in an ETA version (correct me if this has actually changed).

Though the hands set can be ordered to be ETA compatible.

  4. Drotopman, this is a pretty precisely executed mod!

The lug profile is now on par with the gen.

We need an easy and affordable way to mod these lugs.

Tried a CNC method a while ago, but it required welding the lugholes redrilling ...

For now this type of modification will stay a handcraftsmannship

  5. Very helpful device! Congratulations!

I found these very helpful: "Tickoprint" and "Clock Tuner"

Those are android apps and work quite good with ETA movements for example.

For some reason the Seiko low beat movements are not that well "heard" by neither professional timegrapher nor those apps according to my experience.

My watchmaker had a testrun with my seiko´s but got strange results with his timegrapher. It is a top notch device as they work on high end watches.

dbane: I am curious to read a comparison of your new timegrapher with the results from the upper android apps?

  6. Regarding the mahand1 dial, this is the same one that Yuki was selling a few years back.  The markers are not only puffy, but the numerals are too far away from the dial edge.  I would rank it below MBK's.

Out of Yuki's current stock (and assuming you can trust the photos on the website), "1016 matt dial" and "1016 matt dial white lume" look to be the least objectionable.

As for Vintage Watchmaker...  That's a whole lot of money for something with such funny-looking numerals.  (And on an unrelated note, I scratch my head over the Daytona dials they're selling.  It's like they gave up once they got around to printing the subdials!)

That is true on the daytona dials. The subdial numerals are all messed up pretty bad, other wise could have been a good alternative!

  7. I may expand a little bit the list:

with this new "player" - http://www.vintagewatchmaker.com/product-p/d-24.htm

They seem relatively new on the market, but the Explorer dial is way overpriced for its finish, even on a Singer blank (who and when is going to see this nice detail?!) and with the right diameter of 28mm they are asking too much!

Gen dials. Absolutely insane price policy! Makes no sense except you are going to attach to a gen 1570 calibre in a gen "environment", meaning case set, movement etc.

These may have been printed by Rolex specific methods, but at the end of the day they remain metal dial blanks with "simple" paint and lume on them as per all other offerings below.

NDT and Minh (same dial offerings as far as I can judge) have quite steep pricing but have the most well printed Explorer dials, some fonts are still off, and remember that those dials are 29mm, need to be carefully trimmed down to 28mm.

Whoopy is a quite good alternative (in terms of finish and price), I wish he would do some more, perhaps with a serif Rolex font like 80´s service dials, in near future :)

One thing to add to the price is the luming service by a skilled person, or you may get those lumed if you are lucky!

Yuki´s offering is quite budget friendly when someone is looking for a non chapter ring dial. Main font is a bit unproportionally scaled but quite acceptable (a few members have build frankens with them). These look better in real than on their website.

JMB´s dial alternative is really the most budget friendly. Though it is of a much older Explorer version with a chapter ring. Pretty nice print quality, further details have been discussed in other topics.

any other additions, hidden new offerings?
