  1. Unfortunately, this could only be used on a gen. The date progression is opposite ETA, so it could not be used as an overlay in a franken project.
  2. Yes, that is a good idea. I purchased a caseback for $85. This seller is great with fast free EMS shipping from Taiwan. Who knows, the mid case might even be in better condition then the one you have. It is worth buying, especially since it is available. Who knows when you will find another. Always hit and miss with parts.
  3. The 16200 will not fit 16014. Different gasket set up and threading. The gasket sits on the case back for the 16014, and the gasket sits on the case for the 16200.
  4. I have the 3035 holders ready now! These will work for ETA 2824-2, ETA 2836-2, and ETA 2846 in Rolex case for 3035 movement such as 16013 and 16014. Purchase info in the For Sale section. or PM me if interested.
  5. Here is a pic I took this afternoon. I couldn't help but include a little something extra, even to the wife's dismay! LOL And the group photos used for the birth announcement:
  6. oh yes, thanks for bringing that up. The cost of cutting SS is 4X the cost of cutting brass. At least that is from the quotes that I received for my movement holders.
  7. I am pretty sure that anything can be done, but it depends on how much you want to spend. The two guys I have dealt with for CNC do not scan, but load the design to their machines with a program such as masterCAM. I think that scanning is possible, but I have not seen it personally. It also depends on the quality of their machines to match the fine tolerances. It you want exact, it will cost you. It you want close, not as expensive, but the tolerances will be (+/1) 1/1000 of an inch but that could have an affect on fitting gen parts. The case would have to be exact. I am pretty sure the cost would be extremely high. Just getting my holders made was not cheap and that is a simple design. The majority of the cost is in set up. They have to write a program, load the program, set up the tools and cutters on the machine which takes time. And once the case was milled, then there is the finishing and polishing, tapping, etc. That all takes time and costs money. At the very least, you could ask him.
  8. Thanks everyone! Yes, it was only my wife and I that delivered! It happened so fast there was no time to think about anything except to not let the baby fall in the toilet. All I had time to do was wrap up the baby and my wife in some towels and help her to bed to wait for the paramedics to arrive. It was was very surreal.
  9. So after being 4 days overdue, we were blessed with the birth of our son! He was born at 4:27am on May 21 at home. We were told that usually the second baby arrives more quickly than the first, but we didn't think that quick. My wife was awaken around 3:45am with some labour pains. She decided to have a shower, and after about 10 minutes, told me I should get up. After a few more minutes, she said I should time the contractions. Check the time (anyone want to guess what I was wearing?), they are about minute apart. I frantically try to find my phone to page the midwives. By the time she calls back, our son was well on his way and it's only the two of us with the midwife on the phone. A very exciting morning that was quite a blur. I'm happy to report both mom and baby and healthy.
  10. Yup. Give him a try. He has, or has access to gen parts.
  11. Check with Clark. Good chance he may have them, or could get them for you.
  12. For this insanity... this is probably the best response: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=453761 Whoever that is bidding on this dial, may have a complete Red with a damaged dial. Replacing the dial could bring up the value much more than the $6K for the dial alone.
  13. I was waiting for someone to bring it up! Gen dial, gen case, gen crown, gen bracelet, gen 3135 date disc, after market hands. Very hard to find no holes case. Case is a 16220, but I swapped the bezel for a smooth 16200. crystal is from clark and looks pretty good. I'm going to swap the hands, I'm just waiting for the relumed hand set to arrive to match the night-light bright lume of the gen dial. Also, the lume color of the hands is not pure white like the markers on the dial. Powered by an ETA 2892-A2 with my new movement holder. I just need to get the holder plated and polished to match the highly finished movement. The plain brass holder just does not compliment the beautiful 2892-A2.
  14. Thanks everyone. I do feel lucky to have a beautiful daughter. We're just waiting for #2 to arrive! The "due date" is today, but it seems he/she is quite content being in the womb. Arty, the watch in my sig is a Franken 1016. check around for a post with the details. And Corner, for breakfast, we enjoyed some nice french pressed coffee, some cut watermelon, grapes, fresh OJ, and some fresh home made cinnamon buns. I should have taken some pictures of the buns, they were fantastic.
  15. Well, we had such a beautiful morning, we decided to have breakfast on the deck. The light was nice, so I took a couple pics of my new beauty. I hope you enjoy. And how could I not include a pic of my other beauty! Still in her PJ's and enjoying a piece of watermelon! We hit over 30 C today, so it is a great way to enjoy a long weekend!
  16. It looks okay to me. Even the caseback markings are fine. I've got a couple 15200 cases and they look the same. The only thing that looks off to me is the end links. The seller would have to show a better picture, and also, they are for a case with no lug holes, so they do not match the case. Looks like it could be a pretty straight forward build, all you need is a dial, a set of hands, and a genuine champagne 3135 disc. I think Gary on ebay has a gen 3135 disc available, and you could get hands from him as well. The ideal movement in order to use a genuine disc is the ETA 2892-A2. I've got a movement holder that would work for you as well. The price just seems a bit high for a feasible project though. After you pick up a dial, movement, holder, date disc, crown and hands, you are looking at another $400 to $500 depending on what you can pick up a nice dial for. But, if built properly, you would have yourself a nice TT.
  17. No idea. But I'm sure it is on exchange basis only upon verification.
  18. These are already being made... but officially. I know a guy here in Canada that is actually authorized by Rolex to make them. I'm not joking. I met him a while back and when I visited his shop, he showed me a couple of his bezels that he made. They are exact copies. When used as replacement, they are registered with Rolex Geneva and recognized as official replacement parts. He said he is the only independent tech that is authorized to do this. He makes a lot of rare parts and has a complete CNC set up in his shop.
  19. I plan on using it in a Franken 16014. I'm just waiting for the proper movement holder for the case! I have yet to build a vintage DJ, so I'm looking forward to it.
  20. I picked up a sealed ETA 2824-2 for a project and figured I would share what was inside. For those that don't know. Movements direct from the ETA factory are vacuum sealed with a special gas. Also, this is the only way to guarantee that you are getting a genuine brand new Swiss made ETA movement. Nothing really special about them, except the fact that they are brand new and do not require a service and can be used right away. But is it ever clean! Sterile actually. They've never been touched by human hands. Look at this photo. This is an interesting mark. ETA CS I've never seen that stamped on any other movement. Anyway, thanks for looking!
  21. I'm glad that worked out for you! Nice job! I have the 2892-A2 > 3135 ready and the 2824-2 > 3135 ready. Unfortunately, the 2824-2/2836-2/2846 > 3035 will be a bit longer. For some reason, the OD diameter of the holder is not exact and is too big for the case. I have to take them back and see if they can reduce the diameter a bit, but it may be easier to just run them again. Now I just have to wait to be scheduled in. I will post in the For Sale section.
  22. Congrats! That is a nice gift! Dials available on eBay, or by exchange to some online sellers. What is the model number? There is a difference in dial feet location depending on the year/ caliber. Don't worry, it isn't that confusing, 3035 and 3135 can use the same dials. It is just the 1570 datejust that uses a pie pan dial and has a different dial feet position.
  23. Hi Folks, The holders are done. I just have to do some test fittings and QC. I will let you know when I will have them available to ship.
  24. Yeah, it felt more solid, and was just way more comfortable. I had four cameras in front of me that I narrowed it down to. The D40, D80, 40D and Xsi. In the end, it was the D80 as it just seemed like the better camera for the $$$. The 40D is definitely a step up, but was a lot heavier and bulkier. The 40D is better, sealed case, etc, but I was trying to picture my wife lugging a big camera around. Also, I liked the set up of the command dial and sub dial on the Nikon better, it seemed better thought out and easier to change settings with one hand. Anyway, it was big hit with the wife! She took something like 300 pictures yesterday as we hung out with our little on on mother's day. I tried to take a few watch shots, but that didn't go over very well. haha.
  25. Nice! i was thinking gen when I first saw the pics, but wasn't 100% certain. I have that exact dial "gen" waiting for an upcoming project. what a beauty!
