Dont say that Mike I have just bought one! Do you know it will not fit 8 inches?
-
Can't stop wearing this beauty, it keeps time to within 1 minute over 48 hrs, not bad for 100 years old!
-
Thanks Ben I have just listed the Glasshute and the Labrador (Omega) on the bay as it seems that genuine watches do not get such a following, understandable I guess, here on the Forum. I would be delighted to discuss/deal with fellow members of course and even consider some trades. Best regards AJ

I have just measured her and she is actually 48mm, they sit and wear so well just like a 47mm PAM. Photos attached
-
The cases I buy from a number of sources, this particular one cam from a chap in the USSR and measures 48mm to house a 43/44mm movement (size 16 in pocket watch terms). Did you see the one I posted in the Wrist Check section yesterday? I also have a conservative black strap Labrador (Omega) under Gen for sale. AJ
-
Thanks Ben There's a few coming to the end of their build/transplant. They wear really well and even with some incredible watches over the years, these get the most attention ever and are unquestionably of historic importance. AJ

Received the refinished dial today which looks simply beautiful sat in the new case. The Omega 1905 movement is being serviced/cleaned ready for putting back together and installed. Those who know me a little know I like Big Watches and colorful straps, Orange, Purple and so on, so I thought a patent lizard strap in bright yellow, it could equally be black or brown alligator or similar for those who are more conservative! Completed watch photos to follow in a week or two. Regards AJ

As an option to cashmere Pete, I do have a lovely dark blue croc I had made before i went to Ostrich if that might be of interest, its as new and will fit that Fiddy really well. AJ

Guys Just finished this today and although not everyone's bag, I love the elegance and look of these pieces and with it's very fine Rose Gold Hands and crown, is a watch you will rarely see if at all! The transplant itself is quite easy with a few simple hobby tools and patience and good eyes. The more complicated ones like the Repeater project I leave to the Smiths of the world. I have posted a similar stunner in the Gen section for sale. I hope you like them. Regards AJ

Just finished housing one of my Glasshute 100 year old movements into its new home for another 100! The hands and the crown are solid Rose Gold and apart from its size and choice of fitted strap today, looks very understated and elegant IMHO. Regards AJ

I like it, I think I would prefer the writing not to be on there, but apart from that it looks great. Where did you buy it from and was it expensive? Regards AJ

I thought and hoped you'd like this one. The last one i have being rebuilt and cased is a really unusual watch in as much that it has a chrono front and the rear it has a porcelain dial with two more hands for day and date of the month. It is being fully rebuilt along with re porcelain ed dials front and rear, pictures will follow!

I thought that when I bought her and even more so when she was in my hands! She was just over $600 before servicing etc but when finished in the new case and so on will look incredible! I will post photos when she is completed. AJ

So this one has an amazing movement being an early 20th Century chronograph and quarter repeater, thsi is having a rose gold case made to match its NOS Rose Gold Hands, Crown and Repeater button.
-
This is a very similar vintage Glasshute that is currently being rebuilt by the watchsmith, note the diamond in the hour hand, all hands are solid rose gold!

I would like to extend my welcome also as a fellow UK guy! Get to know the place and it will reward you with a huge amount of information and invaluable information. Best regards AJ

It might be a phase or am i one of only a few that thinks these older, circa 1900 movements from pocket watch era are simply amazing? I have a new wristwatch case being made for this to be housed in and with Rose Gold Hands and winder and display caseback think they make an amazing watch that is simply quite unique and at the cost of a decent rep a worthwhile addition to a collection. I have one for sale on the forum under gen watches which received some great comments yesterday. Regards AJ

Looks great. Yes you need a 26mm strap. The attached photo shows two incredible straps from Eric at Hamilton Straps. The one on the left is fitted to my brilliant Marlin built Fiddy. For the summer months I like a bit of colour

Any suggestions on where to get custom strap?

Eric of Hamilton strap fame is acknowledged as amongst the very, very best and a great guy to boot! AJ -
Thanks Guys for your comments. I am building another similar watch currently with a repeater movement and two others with 100 year old Glasshute movements, one with a single diamond in the hands! I have worn the Labrador all day today and it has kept time to within a minute all day and is admired everywhere especially when someone asks about it only to be shown the movement and told the history! If anyone fancies a true piece of horology history it's yours for $750! Regards AJ

I put this little beauty together a few weeks ago and for those who know, Labrador was patented in 1885 and this particular movement became the forerunner to Omega the brand shortly after this date. So this might just be the oldest and largest watch worn on the Forum today as its over 120 years old and a tad over 50mm! AJ
