  1. Back on topic, has anyone actualy bought/tried on this rep? Any feedback?
  2. he says "This is an unbelievable chance to get this beautiful example of Patek Philippe Horology for a price that is reasonable and below list price of $181,000.", but the Buy Now price is $205,000. huh?
  3. Here is the oil chart - great pic
  4. looking at a few of the dealers sites, I can only find the GMT available in the 40mm, is it also available in the 42/42.5mm?
  5. i have a few sacraficial watches lined up - gotta start somewhere. Picked up some old automatic watches from a flea market, $10 each for some old Citizens and Siekos, all working well (owner thought they were broken cos they only worked when you 'shook' them.)
  6. picture #2 raises a question I've had for a while - I've just bought a watch tool kit, and they all come with a hammer. I cant image what you would need a hammer for when dealing with movements?!?
  7. Here are a efw books I have found on Amazon.com, anyone seen these and can provide any comments? Simplified Mechanical Watch Repair For Profit Practical Watch Repairing
  8. hi all, Can anyone recommend any good books or websites that provides step by step instructions on pulling apart and reconstructing movements, preferably with lots of pics and descriptions. I have a few old watches that i would like to play with, and i have pulled one apart but have no chance in hell of reconstructing it. A few places i have found include: www.horlogerie-suisse.com www.pmwf.com (See 'How-to' menu on right) Pretty good pics and instructions, but just basic operations (removing and replacing a movement, changing hands) http://www.timezonewatchschool.com/WatchSchool This is a paid site, anyone joined this? Any good? It seems that they wont let you join the class unless you buy one of their (over priced) tool kits as part of the deal, Sounds like extortion to me.
  9. Sorry, but what is the point of PMing this information when so many ppl need it?! Isnt the whole point of a forum to post this info publically?! dont mean to sound rude, i'm just confussed.
  10. Heres another one i just found: www.horlogerie-suisse.com

  12. I'm not talking about to someone who knows its a rep and ok with that (I know i would be). But someone who doesnt know anything about watches/brands, and buying them a good quality rep with a good movement (probably not a swiss though). A good rep is still a lot nicer than some cheap brand, but it would rather embarassing for somewho wearing a watch if someone pointed out to them that they were wearing a rep without knowing it.
  13. Anyone know of any of the dealers here that may stock rep cufflinks, particularly Mont Blanc? I have found a fwe sites that deal them, along with rep handbags and pens, but havent heard of any of them and not sure if theyre dodgy.
  14. Dont know if this has been covered, but which areas/malls/streets should be visited for quality reps? are they easy to find where a single dealer would have a large offering, or is it just a matter of take what they have? Will be great to finally be able to see how they sit on my wrist before buying. Would i find reps at the same quality as those offered by dealers on this site?
  15. When you see it up close, i think its a great watch. the wave motif adds depth and the colour is great. But frmo a distance (eg across the table), its not too noticable. I'm assuming the Ultimate would be? Not a fan of the orange. I like the change in colour, but i think it looks a little cheap.
  16. I'm tossing up between these 2 as my next purchase, but cant decide. I like the size of the Ultimate, but find the colour and lack of motif a bit dull. I love the blue wave PO, but wish it came in the 45mm. I like watches that standout and are attention grabbing. Which do you guys think is more attention grabbing?
  17. its pretty heafty that 47mm, not sure how thick, but looking at the pics it has to be close to 20mm!!
  18. I found this while searching eBay, has anyone heard of this before - a watch with suspension. Not sure if its just a novelty or whether it would serve any really purpose "Patented Suspension - The construction is a world novelty "made in Switzerland". Formex is the first watch with a patented active suspension. Therefore all Formex watches are more shock resistant and also offer a higher wearing comfort. Thanks to this suspension, the watch adapts perfectly to the wrist." You can find it here: Watch @ eBay.com.au
  19. I am about to start making my own watch winder, mainly cos the retail ones are too blingy and too expensive (starting at $150
  20. Scottie, do you have any pics of the strap with your B&R?
  21. I am considering buying this watch, but have not seen any mention of it in these forums? Wondering about the quality? http://watchwindersworld.com/lv10022-tambo...800-p-2639.html Anyone heard anything? Pic from trusty site:
  22. They want $US150 for a rep strap! I just paid $98 for the entire rep watch, why would i pay $150 for the strap?!?! This site has extra wide straps Watch Band Centre, 28mm which fits my 39mm B&R. I'm just about to place and order and will post pics once i get it to see how it looks. Def a cheaper alternative.
