  1. For the most part, I've never really had cause to complain about the budget watches. Sure, there have been inaccuracies, but equally, I feel they were nice watches given the cost. Some have had issues such as a slightly missaligned marker, but never anything I couldn't ignore or live with, and I do genuinely believe that budget watches don't get the love they deserve. My wife ordered me a more expensive watch for my birthday last week. The bezel insert was peeling when I unwrapped it, and I had to immediately re-glue it, so I can't deny that that was disappointing... The crown guards are as thick as on budget reps, so will eventually need re-shaping, but I must admit, I can tell the difference in the movement quality when it is wound/set etc. I've not seen the watch offered in a comparable 'budget option', so can't really compare, but I would still say that budget reps are an acceptable way of building a nice collection :good::drinks:

  2. Many late congrats! :drinks:

What a nice gesture from your wife - she must be a real cool cat! :)

Thanks, it was a simple, but great day :good::drinks: As for wifey, what can I say, she puts up with me :bangin::wub:

There's a Yuki pearl on the way, and I've added a little subtle weathering just so it doesn't look pristine, but of course, anyone seeing it who knows what it is, will know what it is :D

  3. After what has been not the best period in my life, I'm back, if not entirely better, better in control, and hopefully on the up :) This forum has truly been a home in all the time I've been here, and I feel like I've stayed away too long. I see that there's been a lot I've missed out on, and lots of new faces, so looking forward to getting back in the swing of things :)

  4. Ish...

Last week, I had a birthday, and my wife was good enough to treat me to a new watch. This was based on several months of subtle questions about forums, TD's, what I considered the most out of reach genuine Rolex etc, and she ordered me a 1665

    Sorry for the shabby picture...

  5. Sorry for the delay in updating this, life is still very up and down, and I'm just going with the flow at the moment. Anywho, my friend posted this on fb, and I thought folks might like to read it :good::drinks:

    August 19

Im home!!!! Ive got my boys back, Im back in Essex and we have had a brilliant time... I cant thank the organisers of Rose of Tralee or JLS and their management enough for what they did... Im a pessimist and thought it would be an expensive mission for a five minute 'hello' in a que with JLS but from the moment we arrived, we were treated like VIP's and Meggy was treated like a celebrity! We had a security escort past all the ques to where JLS were going to be pulling up, the organisers including the wonderful Bryan Carr and lovely Jennifer walked us through all the possible places for Meggys meet, then decided on a room that was private, Meggy was positioned with her chair to the back of double doors and we had a professional photographer there to take pics (including pix of Scarlett who preferred turning the room into an assault course and rolling along the floor tripping people up... yep, she tripped up JLS manager...ooops), Meggy was sitting watching another door when JLS came through the doors behind her and all said loudly..'oh its Megan Devereaux... hello Meggy!' she screeched and laughed and clapped her hands and said 'oh its you, its JLS.. I watch you on television!'.. they then said hello and hugged everybody, then all bent down and cuddled Meggy, she asked Aston to marry her and he said yes, then she told him he was funny... they spent about twenty minutes talking to her, holding her hands, cuddling her and having pictures taken, then all signed her wheelchair! After we went outside while they went to a meet and greet for some other children, as they walked back through the room they all called out and said goodbye and Aston kept running back and doing silly dances and making faces through the door! Meggy then got to watch three songs at the concert before she got tired out! It was more than we could have dreamed of!! Each one of you that voted, each one of you that sent Meggy money for the trip... each one of you was part of making this happen and I cant thank you enough! It was a once in a lifetime moment..... your all amazing! xxxxx

  6. Not exactly a call out, but going into the supermarket with wifey yesterday, the guy walking through the door immediately in front of me was wearing a PAM (possibly a 111) the strap was definitely not the usual PAM rubber, but I know that doesn't mean shit... Seemed fairly tidy and well-dressed, so who knows :good::drinks:

  7. Hola amigos :good::drinks:

First off, I have to apologise for my continued absence from the forum. I haven't forgotten you guys, I haven't found a new vice, I'm just in the same situation I was at last check-in, ie unable to contribute anything or participate in collecting due to funds :bangin:

I'm posting as I have a good friend who is in need of help fundraising for a 'dream come true' situation for her daughter with special needs, who was lucky enough to win a competition to meet JLS in Ireland on the 16th of August. She's trying to raise funds to cover the cost of the trip, which, because of her daughter's condition must be by road, and requires two cars due to equipment required. With additional time, I have no doubt that she would succeed, but the competition was only announced about a week ago, so time is not on her side...

She's set up a Facebook page to focus the support, which gives details of how donations can be made.

If you think you may be able to help, please check it out :good::drinks:

  8. You should post more even if its useless garbage like what I post. Lol :p

:D  I've never really been one for posting unnecessarily :D  Early journal sites hardly got anything posted, facebook rarely gets an updated status, I mostly just use it to network with others, but hopefully as things pick up, I'll get back to posting more frequently, and maybe do some more reviews :good::drinks:

Hey Tee good to hear from you, all the best as always.

Thanks, brother, likewise, I hope all's good with you :good::drinks:

  9. I'm relatively new here, but saw some great posts from you. Good to see you on board this time! :)

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed them :)  Welcome to the forum, you won't find a tighter band of brothers anywhere :good::drinks:  To say I owe these guys my life is no exaggeration :)

  10. Hey buddy good to see you.

Some times you need a rest to recharge the batteries but remember we're here when you want to chat :)

    Ken

Thanks, amigo, I'll be about more when things settle down a bit, and I have more to contribute :)  Hope all's been good with you :)

  11. Just had nothing to contribute :bangin:

Life: Still treading water, trying to do as much tattooing as I can to build a portfolio and networking as much as possible :)

Family:  All good, biggest change is my best friend has had another child, and I now have a beautiful goddaughter, who I hope will get her mum's looks rather than her dad's

Watches:  Nothing new.  Wearing my customized GMT II today, but for the past three weeks, I was wearing my plastic sub constantly B)

Hope life's been treating you well, amigos :good::drinks:
