A ball of tape or rubber gloves. No scratches on your case back!!!

I prefer to use the gloves as there is no sticky residue when your done.

Buy yourself some silicone from Cousins or J. Borel. You would be doing yourself a favor to grease your gaskets

every 6 - 10 months or so. Cheap insurance. The grease keeps the gaskets from drying out, it's the gasket that waterproofs your watch.

Just make sure to put it back on tight, but you don't have to over do it.

That is exactly what happened here. "Raise your prices on <insert model here> or else the factory isn't going to sell to you anymore." That type of activity only hurts *us*, the consumers.

If you take a watch in the ocean, better go ahead and buy some more spring bars that salt will do it every time.

Grease them up and make sure they are tight. I have not had any troubles in the pool or the beach myself.

Be careful man. It sounds very easy to take a dab of paint and fill a scratch, but NOOOOOOOOO! It ends up looking like a huge blob of paint on a nice even dial surface. It is much easier to [censored] it up worse than it is to make it look kinda better. It is incredibly hard to paint a tiny scratch without it looking like [censored]. Ask me how I know.

Sometimes it's better to live with it as is.

It was mentioned on the genuine forum that if your watch was ever serviced by Rolex service center, they removed the paint. Certainly after 30 years it had been serviced at least once, so take it off.

I can tell you that I have spent hours with a dremel and various rouge compounds trying to remove a scratch from the glass off my old EL 127. Nothing. Bought a DSN.

I would guess some diamond paste like a dentist would use could get it out, but where to find that?
