Nope I have a pre 2008 franken with gen dial and ETA 7750, gen post 2008, gen titanium, post 2008 rep and 2 which are being worked on by Micky - one will be a white franken and the last will be a mishmash of a bit of fun may change the insert and may relume the hands to something wacky. I'll post them up in a few weeks once they're back with me.
You can strip some of your old bracelet; removable links, clasp etc to recover some of the cost of a new bracelet. You also got one hell of a deal on a gen Seamaster Chrono too. Post up some photos sometime - it's my all time favourite watch - I have 2 gens and 4 reps of it!
Maybe Omega can recondition it? I think that as long as you keep the SEL's, then any bond bracelet will fit. Yes, both reps and gens have double spring bar holes. Makes the watch look more balanced using the top holes with a strap. Can even be used to give a micro adjustment if 'between' holes on a strap. May I ask @Seafoam how much your paid? PM if you prefer. Oh and SSteel is replacing crown and tube on some of mine if you need advice.
True, it seems that some of the longstanding members are less active which is a shame as it's a pleasant site. Reps are still popular and as dvn said the other sites seem busier, but a lot of that is trivial chit chat and lots of back stabbing.
Some good suggestions here. A few questions for you OP, do you think your dad would like Quartz or auto/manual, classic or modern, does he recognise brand names (rather wound he appreciate them), large or small - he may have a large wrist that can handle a 47mm Pam, but if he's used to 37mm watches he's not going to like it! Regardless, there are some fine suggestions posted. I like the Seiko or Hamilton options.
Oh boy, am I waiting for this one. I remember as a young kid waiting to see the original blockbuster - queuing (im)patiently for hours to see it. I don't want to read any reviews, in fact I'm going out of my way to avoid them as I want to be wowed by it. I'm just crossing my fingers that it's better than the prequels.
I'm not doing Christmas this year. Usually in the UK, but at the moment in Brazil and will probably spend it in a hotel before I fly back home on Boxing Day. So below is a picture of my Christmas tree. Yes, you saw it correct, absolutely nothing!
I've never really looked into them too much, but some of TD's stock some nice reps like the Dark Side of the Moon. Reps will always have little tells, it's what you're happy with is what matters. Personally, I don't get too hung up on if a rep is 100% accurate - because it won't be. If you really want accuracy then look at a TC Submariner or some of the Pams, they really are very close to gen looks wise.
There is no accurate rep of the manual wind speedy due to the sub dial spacing. I'm not sure about the auto though. Have a look at what the trusted dealers list to see if it's acceptable to you.
Bit out of focus, but my touchscreen phone wouldn't let me adjust anything underwater. Only 3-4m down, waiting for the wife to pass her Sport Diver test.
Great service like that keeps customers. After all, what does it cost them to supply a few extra links? In the long term, if they give 3 links away and maintain a customer for 30 years who buys a $3,000 every 5 years.....
I've only used Toro once and it was a quick service IIRC. Why not just send home one email asking for an update. However, I would imagine it's the Christmas rush that's causing the slowness.
