  1. because stainless steel whilst being a tough material is not particularly hard, and pics up nasty scratches very easily.
  2. To do this I either need people to send me the case/bracelet of the watch minus crystal. Basically anything that will not survive a hot process needs to be removed. So in the case of a submariner the outer bezel assembly for example. I'd like to partner up with somoene who could handle the disassembly and then reassembly for customers, in instances where people don't feel confident to do it themselves.
  3. Using this treatment the entire case and bracelet of a stainless watch can be hardened well beyond tools steel range. No coatings, the change takes place deep into the metal, and the original finish and colour are maintained. Your watch stays looking as good as new.
  4. I'm in the UK, so anyone company in Europe is fine.
  5. I am workng on a project and am trying to find a company that does polycrystalline diamond coating on glass. I've googled around a bit but all a bit sketchy. Anyone have any ideas?
  6. so that people have watch bracelet that does not scratch at all.
  7. I am going to do a trial run of panny bracelets treated with a process knows as nitriding. This makes the metal very hard without changing the colour or texture. I was going to do cases but I need to see how things work out demand wise with this, besides doing cases is complicated by requirement for disassembly.
  8. Rather than run a PVD service (which thinking about it would be a logistical nightmare) I figured I would start off by offering a watch that is in high demand with a proper PVD coating. Please post suggestions for the watch to do and a rough idea of watch you would expect to pay.
  9. For the moment the service is on hold as I am at capacity with iPod business. I may sell some ready pvd's watches once i clear backlog
  10. Bracelets can be done, but the cost would be rather high. That said once treated you'd never need to worry about it wearing through or scratching up.
  11. I thought there would be a lot of demand for an affordable PVD service, whereas in actuality there seems to be very little.
  12. It's more to do with it being lots of little parts. I'm not saying it can't be done, but I would need to receive a pristine bracelet already disassembled and you'd probably be looking at about $200 to recieve back a perfectly coated bracelet.
  13. Bracelets present a problem because the PVD process is line of sight in 360 degrees, thus coating a bracelet properly would require complete disassembly. The cost would be prohibitive
  14. Am located in the UK, I can have a finsh applied that would meet your criteria, but you would need supply me with the watch already disassembled. Apart from anything else this is safer from a customs perspective.
  15. colorwarepc use polymer based paints to do what they do. PVD applied coatings like titanium nitride are orders of magnitude harder. Nothing I have tried yet has left the slightest mark on the surface.
  16. I assume you mean for watches? The ipod touch case backs are going to be around $60-70, and ones from the nanos will cost $30. I can coat watch cases for between $75-100, depending on the complexity of the casework, the coating being applied etc. As I am not a watch smith I would need to receive the case already disassembled. It would then be ultrasonically cleaned and prepped for coating chamber. As you can see from the pic the quality of the coatings I can do is very high indeed.
  17. Iphones can't be done currently due to the backs being anodised aluminum. The coating takes best on stainless steel. Yes, I just posted that pic as it is a large surface area and it demonstrates the very high quality of the finish.
  18. Of course. Gold just happens to be popular. But I can do black and gunmetal and just a plain silver finish. All coatings are 2500hv+ harndess.
  19. Just a little something I have been working on... A case back for an Ipod touch that has been put through a PVD process and has titanium nitride bonded to it. The result is a sunning finish that looks like very high quality gold plate, but is scratch proof. The relevance to this forum is that I am now in a position to offer a variety of ulta hard PVD applied coatings at very reasonable prices.
  20. i am looking to get 1000 parts treated, with a steady stream to follow.
