  1. Went with Sead(supermirros) with latest purchase after reading a few reviews from like Mike and AJ I basically asked Sead for what I wanted, asked him to go get me a good one didnt bother with QC's as to speed up the process.

Payment confirmed 09/06/14, Sead double checked if he had my order right then I left him to it.

He shipped on the 12/06 sent me a tracking number but only because I asked if shipment had started in a PM on RWI this afternoon. Anyway checked DHL and its looking good fellas , love the anticipation.

  2. seing alot of seiko 42mm 7002 modded pieces on ebay.com from usa seller. would you stay away from a modded seiko? mods are tri colour hands and gmy bezel.

also spotted a modded Skx009 with MODIFIED, BEZEL, MINUTE RING, SAPHIRE GLASS. is it logical to mod a seiko as you can get a decent 5 sports for circa £150.

are these mods normally done to the older style seiko divers as I read that the 7002 is late 80's to late 90's run.

    your thoughts

  3. well

removed my first crown and stem on this cheap movement, got the thing out of the case and gathered up the loose markers, crown and stem back in and hey presto it started to beat ha ha. glued back on the markers and gave it a little clean and passed it back to its owner and hes a happy chappy.

what I discovered though is the the single loupe in my kit i struggle with, is there a glasses type that you can wear or do you guys use a desk stand type magnifier or something?

    cheers

  4. Hi Guys

A friend of mine overheard me talking about reps and so on, and after chatting I told him I had a toolkit inbound with some other bits. so he donated a Patek Phillipe rep to me to have a mess around with, basically to try and fix but if not then use it to mess about on. I have no idea of the movement other than it looks like a cheap manual wind one.

issues with the watch are a couple of dial markers have fallen off at 2 and 7 and as a result one has lodged under the seconds subdial positioned at 6, so I am presuming this is whats halting the movement, anyway will be fun to have a mess about with it and I have attached some pics to see if anyone knows what this cheap movement is. also guys does anyone know of a decent cheapish movment to practice on or would you recommend just getting hold of a second hand one from ebay or something.

    Thanks regards

  5. well I found this forum a while back and thought interesting, good reads, very knowledgeable and great advice.

so 6 or so months go by then I feel comfortable and happy I have done enough reading/research to plunge into my first rep purchase pam 111v3 noob, love this watch so much that a Handmade strap is inbound to compliment it. lately I have made a few cheaper purchases quartz beaters just to see if I like different brands and so on. Last week I pulled the trigger on a gorgeous IWC FA Jones so that's also inbound as well.

But yes you guessed it I'm Hooked. Now I have never really been a SS bracelet type of guy but a few nice models and versions have caught my eye lately so that's why the hunt has started again and I believe you could possibly help in my decision making. I have singled it down to a few models and I have been doing some reading and comparing rep and gen pics etc (the usual trawl)

so to my narrowed down choices and hoping to keep these around circa $300 + shipping obviously (anything cheaper would be welcomed)

    Omega

LMPO 42mm noob (poss my favorite at the minute after looking at a few members purchase's)

    Aqua Terra - grey dial

    Broadarrow

    Rolex

Sub date - ceramic (but v1/2 or all the way V3)

    Datejust II

    Explorer I

So guys whats to look out for apart the obvious stuff I have read like bezels, crystal, he valve positioning on OP, date wheels on the rolly's etc

whats the safe bet in way of movements as the consensus is that Swiss eta - are you really getting what its supposed to be plus wouldn't get that for the money bracket I'm in anyway

so basically I'm not trying to post whats the best of these models and who stocks etc, just some help in my decision making

    cheers Guys

  6. cheers mate

Yeah I used Toro for my Pam, did you accept first QC?

wrong thread I guess mate can I PM you about your QC pics? this one is winning over a datejust or aqua terra at the minute.

    cheers fella

Toro matey, great service too. Very quick delivery to the UK for $35. I would recommend Toro  B)

  7. Cheers for that D. I just can't get my head around where it can be for 7 weeks ? And how it takes so long ? As Josh has said , he will cover postage back to UK , and the repair bill , it would be a lot simpler if the watch goes missing for him ???

yeah I suppose so mate, but i read a forum member gave up hope over a month and half then out of the blue it turns up then he waits another 3 weeks getting it returned so by all account sending back can be a lengthy process. but as others have said proper pain in the ass it was DOA in the first place. sending back is fine I believe until it hits their PO service and it can just sit there for an age sometimes until they warrant there are enough packages to help in the forward journey of your parcel and all in one go.

fingers crossed its not a loss fella

  8. Degsy, "Can I ask will you forgo some or all of your reps to fund a gen of your final shall we say grail choice." you sure can ask but I do not know the answer struggle w/ it daily. I will always be in both heavier right now in Gens having just sent out what 8-9 reps, but one gen ,one rep on the way in. It is a sickness...........

ha ha ha fair play Mike good luck to you and your sickness  ;)

  9. dusk when you get past quantity ( I have so, so many)  you start to think about what your chasing, the verdict is not in yet for me...............

Mike interesting statement, I am way off hitting quantity. Can I ask will you forgo some or all of your reps to fund a gen of your final shall we say grail choice. Or will you stay in both markets??

    Regards

  10. Dont lose heart mate, after a lot of reading those that do send watches back some have waited months so there is still hope yet. some say that its best try and work out with TD a part refund and get watch serviced in your home country but your horse has already bolted so cant go that route. There are plenty of TD's and all offer slightly different types of customer service but the hobby we chose is a rep one so time and patience is needed I guess and dealing with such time gaps, postage in different countries and the shipping is all going to play a a factor in this game.

what I am trying to say is dont lose hope and if it works out dont let it put you off if watches are one of your passions as most of us cant afford the Gens or we wouldnt be here.

    chin up fella

    good luck

  11. Dusk/fraggle

I paid the same as dusk $35 dont know if it actually hit french soil but the tracking info was strange on route , none the less it was here in just over a week which was awesome.

    dont forget wristy shots
