  1. pulled the trigger on a toro pam111n v3 noob, received QC pics today 5 in total am I allowed to post for advice? ill hold off until i get the nod.

so I have read what I am looking for and in the five pics im looking at bezel and crystal height, CG looks ok to me but am I looking to see if its spaced correctly on the side of case? the hands I think the noob m/n are supposed to have vintage hands and I understand the vintage the lume goes right to the point and if not these are modern hands? open casing and movement engravings, the blue officine Panerai is engraved deeper and then painted, serial number more defined etc.

do I ask for more pics with the case back open or is it ok to presume its the correct asian movement 6497 21600

my order details from toro state pam 111 n latest V3, but under the model column it says pn111m

any advice welcomed guys before I look to accept QC's

  2. Well I had notice of cleared payment this morning from Toro and this afternoon I have received 5 QC pics (cool). is this enough or should i be asking for more?

what are the rules for posting QC pics before accepting, it has two pics from either side showing crown and crystal height and to me looks good but as you know no expert. one of the lume, one of open back casing and one of CG

any advice welcomed guys (wont post pics unless Im not supposed to)

  3. Run away! Run away NOW!

First this Pam (nice, BTW), then another, then a couple more, then a couple of straps, then your first super rep ($500+), then you fancy frankening one. And it's at this point that you are so far down the slippery slope and going so fast.

Ah well, best to just buy the 80 watch box to start with, but get ones that are stackable :D

    Lol, oh No....

  4. The process has started guys

Payment sent for my first rep gone for a pam111n v3 noob on tan. I've read all the noob posts about being patient and following process so I'll try and resist in panicking. But it's from a TD with good reviews so think I'll be fine.

Let the hobby begin oh yeah and the waiting!!

    Can't wait already

  5. cheers Marlin, I had already read numerous posts about h vs Noob, but last night stumbled upon an awesome thread that seemed to answer all my questions after I typed my post in here. I guess I was just after reassurances from seasoned watch guru, but all is good and ordering my 111 later today or tomorrow once i receive email reply from Toro.

    Regards

  6. Thanks for the reply , apologies for TD mix up there. so these mods mentioned are not that necessary unless wanting to move it more towards gen. So I'm reading that the  Asian 6497 Manual, high beat 21600bph movement is good and pretty servicable? on these 111n Noob v3's.

    thanks

  7. Hi Guys

Bit of a Newbie here been sitting in the side-lines for a while doing lots of reading and then more reading. Now I’m looking to pull the trigger of my first true decent rep, my rep of choice is the pam111n v3 but I am unsure if noob or h is the way to go, Toro has the Noob and Andrew at Puretime has the H. I have read a few H vs Noob threads and it seems to be leaning towards Noob as the better rep. Although like a child in a sweet shop I have now started looking at pam 390 and the 127 fiddy's. Any advice welcomed on which way to go and if you had any views on H vs Noob on any of these models. I also hear the 50's are low stocks at the minute so that may sway my decision to the 111. I have also been reading some mod threads and lots of people admire Marlins work but a quick question if anyone could answer. I have read a thread about a pam111n noob having the following mods by marlin:

    Mods done:

    Y-Incabloc (unsure what this is)

    Polished ratchet wheel bevel

    Polished crown wheel bevel

Brushed and gold plated gear train

    Long micrometric screw

    Reshaped swan-neck

ETA markings on the main plate

    Polished and flattened canon pinion

And of course, cleaned, oiled & regulated

My question is I presume these mods are not directly necessary as the latest Noob version by all accounts is an excellent super rep, but what benefit are these mods to overall appearance and operation? Do they take the unit to an even closer standard of a Gen? or are some of these a necessity for a good operating and maintenance of a timepiece.

Cheers guys appreciate your advice and input

  8. Hi Guys

newbie here been sitting in the sidelines for a while doing lots of reading and more reading. now im looking to pull the trigger of my first true decent rep, my rep of choice is the 111n v3 but I am unsure if noob or h is the way to go, Toro has the Noob and Andrew at Puretime has the H. I have read a few H vs Noob threads and it seems to even in % for both. Mark sorry to slightly hijack your thread but your watch is totally stunning so I thought it appropriate to see if Marlin had a view on H vs Noob and if all V3 need these mods.

again sorry for the slight hijack, and once again stunning watch Pal.

  9. Hi Guys

just saying hello before I plunge into the world of Reps and hopefully Gens, been doing some reading on a few forums and this looks the most informative. As being a Noob involves a lot of reading and research before posting and getting flamed for silly stupid questions. I'm always eager to learn and progress knowledge before I dive in but in this instance I'm struggling to do the right thing as I'm reading the noob section but cant get a couple of links to work from Toadtorrents guide am I missing out on valuable info or what?

    cheers guys
