  1. I could be a number of things. Sometimes the pallet stones are loose and this causes problems, on most A7750's the entry pallet doesn't go far enough into the escape wheel and it can skip a beat, since most of these aren't oiled, sometimes there is too much spring pressure reaching the balance and it can overbank and turn too far...

There could be many reasons, I have had some that sound like a train, "tick a tick, tick a tick..." very weird and you can even hear it in a quite room from far away.

Unless you have a timer to see the what the pallets are doing, there is no way to identify the problem, or fix it.

Thanks The Zigmeister! This is what I was looking for. I was hoping to get this one superlumed and have ETA DW's put in it, get the movement serviced. How does your calendar look?

  2. I have a beautiful new Corum ACC with an asian 7750 that I just picked up from Andrew. It is making a noise (not rotor related) as it ticks at certain angles. It is clearly the standard beat of the movement, it becomes louder when the watch is leaned towards the crown side, goes away as I lean it towards the non crown side. It appears to me that it is related to the escapement or the balance wheel. Any thoughts on what this might be related to?

    Thanks

  3. I have been searching post after post here and on repgeek. It seems that the dial differences (subdials, marker colors, lume color, etc.) seem to have no rhyme or reason to them. Some seem to get V1 dials with recessed subdials in better AR V2 cases, some seem to have V2 dials that are properly recessed, etc. Mine is on the way from Andrew, should be here soon (fingers crossed - thank you in advance Mr. Customs Man!) so I will see soon enough. Does anyone have this all figured out yet? Hoping I get lucky or if I don't that someone has a V1 dial laying around they want to sell or trade....

  4. Here's hoping people will take note, and be prepared to act on it :)

Noted and advice taken on all of this. I was going to order a 217 Destro from DSN. After reading this entire thread and all the QC issues and upset customers not a chance.

  5. Im really torn on this one, but im going to buy a gen P/O or a Gen 2225.80 Seamaster chrono. Which one do you guys think is the better watch for long term collectability? I really love the Seamaster - it feels so heavy and nice on the wrist but I don't know if it's the more collectible of the two long term. Any input from the board would be greatly appreciated!

  6. Finally got around to taking some pics of my 188 this morning. Most of you know this piece and the incredible deal I got from Carlsbadrolex. Just a note, CBR is the most stand up member I've dealt with...and I've traded countless watches with countless members...and he still takes the cake...no b*llshit :thumbsupsmileyanim:. The 188 was acting a bit funny after I bought it from him, and he insisted that he pay to have it tuned up. Even after practically giving it to me. Got it done at his watchmaker in a days time. I've never dealt with a member who "put his money where his mouth is" more than Carlsbadrolex...period.

Now to the watch...I know it's changed several SoCal hands in the recent past so if any of you have anything to add, please do so. It's got every mod imaginable and is of course powered by the 7753...yes the date wheel sit a little low in the window but hey, if that's the only flaw...that is more than fine with me...

    Enjoy

She's a beauty alright! What strap is that?
