Hopefully someone can walk me through this. I read the thread about actually putting the hand back on the stem, however, I first need to get this watch apart. I do not know what is inside yet, but once I get the back off, how do I get the crown out? I included a pic so you can all see what I'm dealing with. I know this might not be the best rep, however, at the time I really liked the look of the entire watch. You can see the hand in the bottom right corner. -Brent

I'd like to attempt making my own straps and have the necessary tools. Problem is ... there are a gazillion types of leather. I sort of like the look of bison, but not sure of what type of leather hide to purchase. I really just need a small piece to give it a go. Are you using 6-7 oz leather? Is it this veg tan stuff? I like the feel of the stock one (last photo), just not the color or thin nature of it. See attached...what type of leather are we looking at? Thanks, Brent

First things first, thanks Davidsen. I received my DSN 172 yesterday and it is now the best watch I own. From the very first email, to the response to my many emails, he answered all of my questions and put my mind at ease that I was making the right decision. Since this is my first PAM, I really have nothing to compare it to. I originally wanted the DSN 111H, but liked the fact that the blue hands sort of made this watch stand out among the others. I also liked the fact that the case wasn't all shiny. I know the case is ION-TI plated, and I hope the finish last for a long time. The only imperfection that I saw was what looked like lume overextending the :30 tick on the seconds dial. I have to honestly say, other than taking a bit to actually pay Davidsen through moneybookers, the transaction was extremely fast (3-4 days HK to my door). Davidsen included an additional band and extra sping bars, now if I can only figure out how to get the tan band off and put on the dark brown one. It would have been nice to have a screwdriver small enough to perform this task I'm very happy with my purchase and know that this probably won't be my last DSN. I started collecting rep watches in the mid 80's and these were cheaply made and the quality was poor. None of them have really survived over the years. My goal is basically start from this point forward with a variety of quality rep watches. Now, I need to find the best strap to finish the look. Strapmakers, Can you tell me the name of the stuff used on the sides of the strap to make it appear as one piece? Also, What type of thread and size is typically used in the stitching?

Can someone please explain what this really is? Is the Swiss E Movt the same as the swiss unitas 6497 movement? What does the dagger swan next buy me? Also, why would I need to get the canon pin fixed? Thanks, Brent

I have been trying to decide which PAM to purchase. So many to choose from makes it a difficult decision. Seems like most people go for the standard 111H. I'm am about to purchase a DSN 172H and wondered if anyone already purchased one of these from him. I'm really liking the titanium-look instead of everything shiny, even though it may not actually be tantalium. Anyone have any comments on how close they feel this one is to the gen? Hello all, I have a really old daytona and I'd like to refurbish it a bit. The numbers around the "Units Per Hour" dial have lost their black color. Is there a way to re-paint these, if so, with what? -brent

I have been looking over the many Panerai options available as well as straps for quite some time. Since a majority of these are 44mm in size, can a watch actually be too big? Since I have never actually tried one of these on, I'd sure hate to purchase and never wear. I have my eyes on the PAM 111H. I measured my wrist and it is about 6 1/4". Help me make up my mind -brent
