  1. I always preferred the A07 options myself on the chronos... the versions from H maker..which IMHO I think are more accurate..

A good service wil sort your choppiness out mate I am sure.... and its always a good idea to do a service on any rep you intend to keep :) whether it has an issue or not as any dirt etc will slowly cause an issue and might do more damage if left... well you know what I mean I am sure :)

Surely your CB is screwed on?

Do you mean that fell off? ie all screws are gone? (I am sure that aint the case but always best to ask) Or is this version you have not engraved on the CB but the map on a thin metal sheet and just glued on to a blank CB ?

If it is then just glue it back on... maybe with an aralidite 2 pack for metal... just prepare surfaces like clean and remove old glue etc

Have you a pic mate ? It helps and stops us guessing on possible solutions :) ( I aint being sarky mate :) )

You see, the part where the engraved map is, is actually a plate attached to the actual caseback.  That plate fell out.  As i've pushed it back, i can't really get a picture of it detached.  What i can do is circle out the part i mean...

It's kinda holding on to the caseback for now but sure feels loose.  Just a matter of a few nudges before it falls right out again...

Thanks for the info for metal-to-metal adhesive, mate! Time to head down to the DIY shop and get me some.

  2. Thats good to hear mate...that you are striking out and willing to share :) Appreciate it :)

With Spin mate...be a little more patient mate... especially at this time of year.... you can imagine how many emails he gets...and how many time wasters...then other issues that email can generate..going to spam folders... etc plus on top of that work load...personal life... etc etc He may even have posted somewhere or someone posted for him that he wont be getting abck into till x date etc :)

I am sure he will reply ... I normally wait a week maybe longer to get a reply then if not I just resend it rather than spend a few lines saying how I had already tried contacting..it can come across wrong and isnt really relevant... ;)

Give him a few more days mate... and you will be swimming in no time :) :)

Yeah, I'll take that approach with spin. I have to say I have had no luck with JJ though. Sent email and pm on rwi more than a week ago, and then pm'd him here but still no response. But so long as cartel 1675 & 5512s are not going outta stock, I can wait.

Thanks, PeteM. You've been most supportive!

  3. You're right, we shouldn't expect that they have everything. So long as I get my stuff I'm pretty patient. Its just that my orders with Henry were end Oct and I have seen nothing. In the interim, I've ordered from Andrew and Mary, and have gotten a 6241, sub 243, chopard gtxl, Pam 363 and the troublesome bell&Ross (along with a chopard owl face for the missus). So I'm sorry if I sound miffed. Never again a non TD.

  4. Ok, since i had a problem with a "1:1" BR03 Type Aviation (real disappointment!), i brought it down to a shop mentioned in RWI forum once and struck up a conversation.  He's working out or temporary premises for now but says that once he gets back to his old shop location, he'll set up his waterproof tester thingamajik.  That should be 6 months from now.  So maybe no swimming with the watches for now...

He outsources any 7750 movement work, and says local smiths are abit "hit-and-miss" for this movement.  He said he may consider sending movements overseas for servicing.  Don't know if he's proficient with other movements but i notice he does carry alot of movements and parts.

Well, anyway, if you need some basic work done cheap with a rep friendly 'smith, then PM me and i'll give you his contact.

  5. Ok, i found a fella in Singapore that had the hand installed.  Problem with the BR03 Type Aviation is that (i think) the hands are set in synch with the digital display.  He could therefore not accurately align the hands (by setting it at 12 o'clock). So now it's abit off.  And since the watch is new, i haven't had time to read the manual yet.  So i'll need to go back to again once i find out how to set the time at 12 midnight/noon, so that the hands can be aligned properly.

Btw, does anyone have any experience with the 1;1 model?  I noticed (after the minute hand was reattached) that minute hand jumps rather than sweeps.  Is this correct for the 1:1 model?

  6. Hi Everyone! I just got my grey faced GTXL yesterday and i too noticed the choppy chrono seconds hand.  Did a search and found this thread.  Looks like i'm not alone.

After i removed the watch and figured out the deployment clasp, the plate with the engraved map at the back fell off the caseback! I seem to have no luck with these things.  Anyone know how i can secure it permanently to the caseback?

Btw it is a beautiful watch.  Just seems a tad big for my skinny wrists...

  7. This is the first time I'm seeing this rep, but what stands out is how the pyramid texture on its subdials is much less pronounced than on the gen.  Also, the hour indices that hit the subdials end sloppily.  As for the mid-case, it seems to be a bit thicker than the gen, but that may be down to the movement.

So we're still far from having an "ultimate 1:1 best perfect version" of this watch? Hehe!

  8. Hi PeteM, thanks for that reassuring response. Yes, I got QC pics. In fact, I rejected the first one cos of marks I see on the case. The second one's QC pics seemed ok. I'm certainly gonna try to get it done by a local watchsmith, if possible, and seek concessions thereafter from TD. TD has suggested I go to a particular mall with quite a few watchshops. I'm asking him to be specific about which shop. Fingers crossed about getting a good resolution for this... You reckon I should ask him for a discount with my next purchase to take into account the repair cost? Is that "kosher"?

Hi Ssteel, I'm in Singapore. The watch came with another 3 watches and looked fine in the QC. The other watched seemed to be ok save for a Chopard MM XL chrono where the plate with the engraved map attached to the centre of the case back fell off. Which brings me to my next question... How do you glue the engraved plate back on the case back securely?

I just don't seem to have any luck with this TD. Had to send a Rollie project 6241 back to him cos they gave me the one with the wrong dial and the bezel insert came off. It's been awhile and it's still not reached the Chinese address yet...

  9. I just received a BR03 type aviation (the "1:1" model) from a TD and when I unwrapped it, the minute hand was not attached and just floundering around within the watch. Really disappointed with the quality of such an expensive rep. Surprisingly flimsy...

My disappointment aside, I have not requested for an exchange yet as I loathe the thought of a long wait and the possibility that it would be lost. So I'm wondering if this will be an easy fix for a watchsmith.

  10. You will find many more of your country men here mate....so you will feel right at home :)

Welcome and I hope you enjoy it..

Spinmaster is in Singapore and Goin is in Tiawan...plus I am sure there maybe others more local that could help with a small issue ...

I have bought a few bits off Henry myself in the past... he is pricey but a decent bloke....

    :)

Spin replied. Phew! I hope he can help me. Might want him to see how I can improve a cartel 6241 too.

As for the Pam 363, it came off tswatchltd. I believe the name mentioned is Mary in rwi forum.

I have to confess I have ordered stuff from Henry and he's screwing it up. Sending me a wrong watch. Hard to tell from his pics. Hardly a qc photo. Taking forever to send it to me. For another watch, took my order, my money, and then tells me it's not available. Well, to his credit, he says I can return the wrong watch when it gets to me. And he said he would refund me for the watch he can't get.

  11. Spinmaster is in Singapore and has that equipment, I'm just not sure if anyone has heard from him lately

    spinmaster91@gmail.com

I tried contacting Spin on RWI but his inbox is full.  Looks like he's AWOL.  I'll try his email... Thanks!

Im thinking of getting a pressure maybe next month. Probably I can offer it as a service to local members soon?

Really? Wow! That's really nice of you! lemme know if you you're really setting up this service.

  12. Hi Everyone,

I'm fairly new to this forum but i have been spending quite a few hours here.  Even now, i am astounded with the amount of knowledge and expertise here and on RWI (which is still down after a few days, i noticed).

It was very much based on this forum that my recent purchases (still on way; seems that flights out from CN is abit slow lately) had been made.

The first couple purchases i made have been pretty ok, save for minor issues (had to send a Rollie project 6241 back though for having the wrong dial and bezel insert falling off).  A stunning Pam 363 with a slightly loose chrono subdial @ 3 hand (was offered by Tswatch to have it returned and fixed/exchanged but found it troublesome for what seemed a minor issue.  Tswatch said it would be an easy fix so i'll find someone to try and get it done).

I suppose my largest question is where to find a rep-friendly watchsmith in Singapore... I haven't got an answer in either forum yet.  If anyone knows, will he/she PM me?

Thanks! And looking forward to making further contributions to the forum (i love photographing my watches)!

  13. Hi Everyone,

I'm fairly noob in this forum but i have been doing searches, on the forum and on the 'net, looking for someone in Singapore who can test the waterproofing claims of certain reps, but without any result.

You see, i have some reps coming to me and i would like to be able to swim with them.  For peace of mind, i'd really like to make sure they are waterproof (at least in a swimming pool).

I know it's a tad sensistive to reveal watchsmith shops that work with reps on the forum (same reason i don't start calling local watchsmiths up and asking if they would test my rep), so if anyone knows a rep-friendly watchsmith in Singapore who can do the waterproof/pressure test, i'd be ever so grateful if you could PM me!

    Thanks!!
