On the way:
5500 case
NOS 78350 bracelet with 557 endlinks
Whoopy dial and hands
ETA 2453 movements (1 extra just in case)
Does any know exactly which Movement ring I need for this setup? Would like to purchase the right ring the first time. Any links would be appreciated.

A 2846 will work for a 5500 case as far as I know. You could also try a 2452, or a 2472 to get a 18,000 bph rate. The date wheel will have to be removed, but there's not much to that.
Excellent, do you know what size ETA movement ring I would need? Would it be the same ring for both the 2846 and 2452?
There are quite of few of these movements available on the bay but most are marked 'for parts only' or part of actual watches. I would probably lean toward a donor watch so that I know the movement has not been sitting out in the open, exposed, for who knows how long. Any opinions, good or bad, on using this approach to procuring a movement?

Would this work?
But would the date wheel need to be disabled for the watch to function properly?

Hi y'all
I'm thinking about starting my first watch project, a vintage Explorer 1 using a gen 5500 case. What low-beat, no date movement would you suggest I look for? ETA-2846?

Whoever produced this should be ashamed of themselves.

Or the cartel could get together and just produce a ceramic bezel with the accurate paint color. Why is this so difficult?

800 pounds brand new.500/600 pounds used.ive only found brand new gen 116610 inserts online so far
Yeah, the 116610's seem plentiful these days.
-
A DSSD genuine insert cost around 800€ so I think a genuine sub c insert will cost around 1100€ because it is more rare to find one. But personally I would never spend that money for an insert even if it is gen, I prefer save up some money to get a gen 116610LN or 114060
Yeah, I agree that's an insane amount to pay because you would probably never get that back.
-
550.00. I wouldn't pay more then I would pay for a flat 4 LV insert which is known to be the most expensive steel insert in the modern sub family.
Is this GBP or USD?
-
What is the max you would pay for new? used? No idea what the market value is because I've never found one for sale.

Ken,
" Not when you are dealing world wide there's not." I agree but what juicemouse said above is true "The only people that use Western Union in the United States are people who send money to jails and prisons." and illegals and green carders sending money to foreign countries, it has a stigma. We do not us it here we are not comfortable with it and whether right wrong or indifferent it is what it is, in my over half a century here I known no one who used it or even saw someone use it in passing at the local super market except once "I" was sent money last week. People with means use other methods and you need people with means unfortunately. I gather in other parts of the world it is more mainstream just not in the good old USA.
I remember seeing them in the grocery stores when I was young but I don't even see those anymore. WU could have pioneered the online currency business but they were satisfied with the status quo. Doesn't surprise me with 2.3M people under correctional supervision in our nation's jails and prisons. That's a lot of commissaries!
-
Is Venmo available overseas? But they were recently acquired by PayPal so I don't know what changes they have planned for their TOS.
-
I personally don't like WU because it is a pain in the ass to setup. I tried once and you have to go into a Western Union retail location and complete the registration. Then you have the exorbitant fees. The only people that use Western Union in the United States are people who send money to jails and prisons. There are just too many better options to bother with it.

Welcome Lee! I love the prohunter watches but be warned that the finish isn't great (looks more gunmetal to me). True PVD is really cost prohibitive so I'm getting mine bead blasted, then recoated with ceramic. Good luck to you.

One of my most memorable nights ever was in the reeperbahn. Welcome!

Not the problem you describe but the picture attachment feature has gone completely downhill (I have pro). Pictures used to be hi-res and crisp. Now they have a high rate of compression and only go to 1200 pixels

Looks good to me - indeed very good. More pictures please. Insert a little bit white. I´m curious - if somebody can tell, please, how much is the total setback for watch+platinum mod+shipping+Tritec relume+shipping again? Thanks:)
After doing some research, I think it means getting some acetone, some platinum colored paint and a fine tip brush.
I'm thinking scale model paint but I wonder if anyone that has done the mod can share which brand paint/color they successfully applied.

As far as i'm concerned, when buying a rep, just be mentally prepared for some hiccups...But of cos, depending on what sort of scenario we are tokin about?
In lifez,LUCK plays a part...Everyone or everybody i can say,is taking a risk everyday in reality...This applies, when we decided to click the "Buy" button from that particular rep dealer whom you choosed...
What we are paying is less than 2% of the genuine products...End day,rep dealer is also trying to make a living,so when you have less expectation, lesser dissappointment will follows,haha...
From the post earlier today in general folder,i does agreed that not all descriptions that dealer post are 100% accurate, its just an advertisement. But since i choosed to buy from them,i can only trust them...
What comes around goes around, once bitten twice shy, thats all i can say...By the way,it's just my own perspective tot..
Huh? All I was saying is that 5 watches is a lot to buy for a first purchase. Go big or go home right? Enjoy you watches

I wonder why it's called Montauk Highway. Does it have some connection to LI?

how hard is it to create an ETA movement ring? I can model in 3D, has anyone tried to 3D print one? Is it a matter of measuring the diameter of the gen case and the diameter of the movement, then creating a ring that fills the delta? What are the square notches for that I see on the rings available on the market?
