  1. Yes there is more vintage Rolex knowledge here than anywhere else. Most of the guys on the gen forums only know how to throw down the VISA to buy a watch or send it out to have work done. Here, almost everyone is trying to learn everything for themselves.
  2. nice work!!! My second rolex I ever bought was an old Snowflake. I traded it for a set of used Superswamper tires when I bought my first 4x4... Used Toyota 4-Runner. I wanted to lift it and get tires but I didnt have enough cash. Buddy at the tire store wanted my Sub and took it on trade. back then it was worth nothing.. Paid like $400 for it and it was worth maybe $800. Now they are worth the same as a rolex sub. Stupid me.
  3. The fliplock pin isnt too long, its coming apart. Its a tube with two round pins that push in from the sides. If it gets any "longer" it will come apart and you will lose the watch. get a jewellers hammer and lightly tap those ends back in so they are slightly snug without the flip lock binding. dizz
  4. I want to buy it just to see what the bracelet is like. I got my Yuki 7206 and its not what I was expecting. Its good quality but not as good as I was expecting for $150 If I buy the GMT for parts, then I will send you the datewheels, gmt hand, dial, and bezel insert for free because I know you really want them! lol dizz
  5. Im not sure what my serial number is... The last time I took the bracelet off, it took me about an hour to get it back on and get the springbars back in place. Maybe someone else here can tell us what the one or two generations of MBW 16610 serial numbers are. I believe mine is an F-serial also but not 100% sure. dizz
  6. Basicly I used to think this was a good replica about 5 years ago... Now, many years later, I wear these.. Recently Modded Pure Time 1680 Franken old skool MBW1680, gen white tritium dial etc 16030 gen Rolex datejust with ETA2836 replacement motor. MBW franken 16610 Doesnt compete with you other guys here. You have some amazing watches! dizz
  7. So Andei... you say you came from Panerai, and this is your FIRST vintage Rolex build? And you drop a wicked 1675 with gen dial into our laps?? I must say, I am impressed! You did an amazing job. Welcome to the Rolex sub-forum!!
  8. Actually in one of your pics the rehaut looks good. Sometimes if you take a pic with the lens to close to the watch, you will get that wok effect for some reason. Keep the camera back further and zoom in a little if you need to. Other than the rehaut, that bezel is different from mine. Yours is thicker and different outer edge. My bezel notches go further down the sides and almost touch that lower ridge. I dont know if mine is correct or not. Too small to see anyways. @Highoey - I bought mine years ago off another member, what was already the second owner. Mine is the first MBW16610 I believe which is supposed to have the best bezel.. who knows. Also... original name MBW or nickname as it was "Maria(s) best watch", Then after Maria vanished and other dealers started selling it, it became know as the MBK because its based in the MBK shopping center. Any of us older members will always refer to it as MBW because thats what it originally was refered to as. @ d-rock - Your watch looks pretty good. We're not slamming it or anything.. Just pointing out some differences between a couple confirmed MBW;s from the past. Maybe they used some different parts at the factory who knows. Just need to put a gen size crown on there and you will have a nice 16610 rep. These are as good as the WM9. dizz
  9. Your lucky that only the cyclops broke. After 30 seconds on direct flame, Im surprised the dial was melting...
  10. ha ha ha! I would start at 2 seconds... let it sit for 3-5 seconds then pop the cyclops off with a flat head screwdriver and a LIGHT tap from a hammer. Case knife might work also. You just need to soften the glue. Doesnt need as much heat as you would think.
  11. BK said he had 20 dials left that he was going to use in the first 20 of the new 16610 he is building. And they will only be sold to returning customers as a first come, first serve basis. No WM9 parts are available anymore.
  12. Ubi I hate you.... I was thinking the same thing.. gen case set, yuki dial and yuki 7602 rivet. What a beautiful watch. I have two gen datejusts with ETA movements and I was thinking of turning one into a 1016. I think you have inspired me to do just that! dizz
  13. I saw that mineral crystal thing on Angus's website.... I was actually going to buy one of these just to see if it was something I would wear after a few mods, then maybe upgrade to a better ETA version later if I needed to. After I saw the "mineral crystal" on the specs list, i decieded against it. The trusty time crystal is probably the same same mineral crystal though. If both dealers got the at the same time, for the same price, then I would have to assume they are probably the same. I would believe the Puretime site before I believe what the cartel guys say. I dont trust their advertising.. Just like all their "constructed 1:1 with gen" and "all parts interchangable with gen"... yeah right. lol I wonder if maybe a clarkes saphire replacement crystal would fit in there??? Hhmm that might be something to try. I also want to get the AR done on the bottom on the crystal and cyclops. I dont know if you can put AR on a mineral glass and if it would look right or perform right?
  14. nice! Mine has the Noobfactory dial and datewheel. Your dial is much nicer. That is by far the best rep 16610 dial I have seen. If you can source one of those, then I wouldnt bother getting a gen dial. This one is good enough for sure dizz
  15. removing the crystal? Awww thats for professionals like yourself! I just heated it with a torch lighter for 1 second then knocked it off with a swiss army knife. I guess I could have easily melted the crystal gasket, the crown gaskets, the dial. Maybe you guys shouldn't listen to me on this one lol. JMB is right. I actually did this on an old junker rep just to see how easy it was to do. I wasnt worried about the outcome. If it was a new rep, then i would for sure remove the crystal. Thats a LOT of heat. Also not sure if this works as well on mineral crystals or not. They will break pretty easy under most stressfull conditions. i can only imagine what heating it up that quickly and unevenly would do. BOOM!!
  16. Damn bro that looks good... Yes your rehaut it right. What dial is that? Is that a gen dial?? Looks pretty damn good. Looks a lot like mine.. I was going to put it up for sale, but never did. Not sure if i want to part with it yet. Its too nice of a watch to let go of. I really love it. dizz
  17. I put a gen crown on my Noobfactory SSD 16600, so if the newer Noob subs have the same tube then you can screw the gen crown right on. Not sure if the rep tube will be water resistant or not. If you are going to swim with it, then I would install a Rolex tube, or proper aftermarket one as well.
  18. If By-tor says its not a Noob, then its not a Noob. I agree though, the case is completely wrong, and the dial looks horrible on this one. By-tor is the Noobfactory EXP2 expert and has done reviews and pictorials on his Noobfactory Explorers. He has also built franken EXP2's with gen dials I believe. If you search the forum you will find them. dizz
  19. Whats the serial number on the other side. Rehaut looks a little wokky. Thats weird... and the bezel is different from my MBW16610. Mine might be a gen bezel on it though. I cant remember. Its definately not this bezel though. This one looks like a 16600 bezel or something. Where is this one sourced from? If its from a member, where did they get it from? Maybe this is a newer version than mine. There were Cartel copies of some of the MBW's out a couple years ago. They arnt the same. No idea how to distinguish one of them though. You would have to search the forum and see what info is there. For info on the Noob EXP2, look at By-tors watch reviews. The EXP2 is one of his favorite watches, and most accurate EXP2 rep ever made. dizz
  20. The proper black EXP2 from the Noobfactory has been discontinued for years. The MBW's are still in production, but the factory is just on "vacation" for a few more weeks. Trying to find a long time discontinued watch is not impossible, but its going to be difficult. Maybe contact someone like Mary or Hont who live right by the watch markets and are willing to search for you. dizz
  21. Its not that hard to do. Just use a case knife or a flat head screwdriver. Just open the underside of the link, just enough to allow it to slide out from under the bars. The more you open it, the more it may warp the outside, so when you reclose it, you may see some distortion. On a flat surface, carefully press it closed again. At least if the links do get distorted, then it will be only one or two links on the bottom of the wrist. Either that or take it to a watchmaker and watch him mess it up for you lol. I doubt a Rolex watchmaker with the correct tools is going to adjust it for you if its a fake bracelet. dizz
  22. enlarging existing holes is easy. You can do it with a hand drill and a pair of work gloves to hold the watch case if you dont have proper tools. Trying to drill virgin lug holes is a different story. You need a drill press and some practice. I would love to out source this work to someone, but nobody seems willing to do it. I recently bought a drill press so I am going to give it a shot as soon as I get some new drill bits. dizz
  23. Thanks guys I will check those out. I looked on the snapon website before and couldnt find any individual bits. maybe I'll have to go find a snapon truck and see what he has. I am in Canada. We have snapon up here obviously but it will for some reason be more expensive here. dizz
