  1. Are u serious? Oh boy I can't wAit to see that!!! 20mm??????
  2. yeah i noticed that also with the prices on VRF going up again especially on bracelets all of a sudden. I got a couple good deals on some old 19mm rivet bracelets for my 6265 but now they are up $100 in the last week or so alone. Its amazing how fast it all changes. WOW, I was bidding on that exact bracelet when it was first listed.. My high bid was $350 Wholy crap theres still 3 days left!!! OMG this could be a world record. Dizz
  3. Looks pretty good to me. I have no doubt that JMB does good work from everything im reading here. Tonight I am going to remove my dial and try to file open that tiny datewindow to more the size of the genuine. The rep window looks about half the size of the gen and much to square. Needs to go from a 4x6 shape to a 16x9 shape. Im going to remove material from the left edge and top and bottom to expose more of that nice silver flat top 3 insert Wish me luck lol Dizz
  4. My t-19 snapped on LOUDLY with a but of force... now it wont come off lol Its on there really GOOD.. i used a little torch to heat the acrylic to help take some tension off so hopefully it wont crack but i guess we shall have to wait and see. I heated the case fairly hot and also the outer diameter of the plexy slightly (well below melting point) to hopefully that will relax it a little to take the stress off... Only time will tell. I have a gen 5513 crystal retention ring that seems to fit snugly with a little pressure from a crystal press so that might be a solution for now... Looks like i might have to search for a gen bezel now. Dizz
  5. How the heck did you get the bezel back on after swapping crystals? Did this one have that little white gasket to hold the retaining ring???
  6. When i used the o-ring to tighten my bezel i wasnt using it on one of these puretime cases. I was doing it to simply add resistance to the turning motion. Now i have a PT 1680 and i see what you guys mean by this plastic gasket thing. I snapped on an aftermarket t-19 and its nice and tight. I just need something to hold on the retention ring now. I'll try this method above and see if it works.
  7. Im going to try filing the date window open a little with my little files.. change it from a 4x3 shape to a 16x9 to expose some more of that lovely silver wheel
  8. I just received my 1680 from Angus today.. ripped it all apart right after dinner. I was expecting a silly bezel retention system, and thats definatly what it has. i popped off the rep t-127 with little effort and snapped on a nice aftermarket t-19 superdome thats slightly taller and much more domed than say a clarks or slimeball990 brand t-19. Anyways the new crystal took a lot of force to snap it on but its on there in one piece. Theres no way its ever coming off by accident thats for sure. NOW, i just need to figure out how to get the crystal retention ring to fit. The rep crystal had a larger outside diameter by like 0.2mm so now the bezel retention ring is loose even with the pastic ring and just pops right off. I wonder if a good aftermarket retention ring and bezel assembly would grab onto this new crystal nice and tight? If this aftermarket crystal I installed is anywhere near gen spec, then a proper retention ring should fit right??? dizz
  9. Thats soooooooo nice!!! Beautiful
  10. Who knows maybe hes in jail... nothin like getting scammed by a "trusted" dealer.
  11. I bought a whole bunch from Mr Slimeball990 on ebay years ago. I got 20 sets of 2mm bars and they've been great for years. I do however agree that the internal springs are much weaker than gen Rolex bars.
  12. I wouldnt mind reading James Dowlings book.. The best of time.. Or one of those big books that only comes in Japanese.. except i cant read Japanese.
  13. We started a seperate vintage forum on RWI a year or so ago. I noticed that I was spending all my time on the vintage forum and missed a look of good discussions in the regular Rolex forum. I agree with By-tor that there isnt enough traffic to warrent having to keep them seperate at this point. Having a seperate forum for vintage isnt necessarly a bad thing, but its nice to be able to browse through both old and new without having to change sections. If there were 400 new topics a day in the Rolex section, then yes i would vote for a vintage section. dizz
  14. I see distortions in the end links.. might be the plating crown looks too big date looks off center... but the only thing that really stands out for me is the too thick crown. This is a nice watch and if its a rep, its a good one. We are just nit-picking here.
  15. Of course Rolex is a status symbol. If you simply need accurate time keeping, then buy a digital Timex. A new quartz is more accurate than almost any mechanical watch. I like Rolex for the way they look and for the history. Sure they are also a status symbol and in that case I put on my new 16610. When i wear my old 1680 or 5513, half the time nobody knows what it is anyways. Hey is that a Nixon? Uhm what? lol Like its been said, it cost Rolex $500 to build a stainless submariner and all the rest is brand name luxury. Rolex is definatley a status symbol, and unfortunatly a distant second as a reliable watch.
  16. WOW thats pretty cool. I like the idea of a low beat GMT. Pretty cool stuff!
  17. Interesting... I'll have to inspect mine out in the sun tomorrow...
  18. I just wish it was updated once in a while. Ive had this app for about a year and still no reference to the newer models in mine.
  19. Ive had lots of my watches opened and inspected, resealed and sent on their way. Maybe their equipment heard the "ticking" and they opened it to make sure it wasnt a bomb lol A lot of time they open it to verify the contents, and once they see it actually is a watch, they just seal it back up without even reading what it says on the face. Thats why i never lie on the customs form. If you send a watch and write "VCR remote control" on the customs slip, you will probably lose your item when they open it.
  20. I dont understand why rolex HQ seems to shun their history and not support their vintage historical watches, while at the same time its these exact watches that made Rolex what it is today, and in my opinion keeps the brand alive. Any company can stamp out a high end watch these days (even the chinese with back yard CNC machines and fake parts) so why doesnt Rolex embrace their heritage and embrace the history that kept them on the map over the past 40 years? Rolex should continue to service vintage pieces and continue to make replacement parts. It will still be the 100% orig pieces with box, papers and original dials and hands that will command the premium $$$, but at the same time allow us regular folk to still be able to wear a historical vintage sport watch and not have to worry if that 40 year old eBay T-39 is going to keep your 1665 dry in the shower Dizz
  21. Well I wish I didnt run into this thread again, because now I am looking at Yuki & NDT cases and searching ebay for old beaten up datejusts to canabalize. This is going to have to be one of my extra long-term projects. Freddy and Ubi what would you say is the better way to go, Yuki or NDT for a 1665 case? I'll start with the case and a dial for now, and get it all vintageized... I'll look for a nice old gen rivet bracelet, or a 9315...and I'll need another T-39.. I think I'm destined to spend all my extra cash on old Rolex parts lol Dizz
  22. I cant find part 1 either.. I agree timezone sucks for navigating. dizz
  23. Cool idea. You definatyly need much better pics on your website as it will make a BIG difference in sales. The logo is kinda hard to see what it is at quick glace. maybe it needs to be a little bigger, but then again its hard to see in those little pics. As the other said, I would remove the circle-T as it makes it look like a fake Rolex wanna be. Lume color makes no difference at all to me, but blue is the new cool thing these days. I also agree, start with no date, as its much easier to "grab and go" exactly like was said above. dizz
  24. Get the new ones from Puretime.. 2842 low beat ETA, silver flat top 3 datewheels, gen size tube to accept easy gen crown swap etc etc... $198 dizz
  25. Looks good! I like the dial a lot
