polished ceramic is shiny like glass. I like the brushed ceramic much better. If you dont like it then i am sure someone here would trade you. Different strokes for different folks dizz

use a little heat (soldering iron) on the caseback... OR inturn you can use an icecube to drop the temp of the caseback (not watch case). This will cause the metal to expand and or contract allowing it to open easier Try it, it reallly works dizz

Well from what i've been reading... apparently some of the GW and DR casebacks originally came with black paint in the lettering. This would have later been removed during the first polishing at a RSC. I saw some examples of never serviced GW's that have black paint in the lettering. Someone asked about why it was there and James Dowling said they orig came with black paint but if its ever been serviced by Rolex, then its been removed. Now guys are putting the paint back in.... i just thought it was interesting. I always thought it came unpainted from the Rolex factory. I've been reading the Timezone rolex vintage forum more and more lately and there is some excellent info in there for us vintage rollie guys!!! cheers dizz

use black enamel paint with a toothpic.. when its about 75% dry wipe off the excess. After its completely dry after a day or so, you can carefully remove the excess.

i would just get the whole crystal done everyone would think your watch was gen for sure because everyone elses would have HUGE amounts of glare coming off their crystals in comparison haha. glueing the cyclops on is easy. You just need UV crystal cement.

i REALLY hope they make one from the same factory as the GMT IIc I heard the gen isnt avail until after summer. Apparently rolex is going to stockpile them until the release date so make sure they have enough to satisfy demand. Im sure a LOT of people will buy these and toss them in their safe for the next 40 yrs as investments. I know i would if i could afford it. buy one for the safe, and one for the wrist

i think its a great idea. I would assume its based on an EXP I. hhmmm... I guess you could use an old gen datejust case.. but you would for sure want plexi... Not sure what kind of plexi domes are avail for that size case. Now you;ve really got me thinking! dizz

@master - sorry thats the only close up pic i have. Its basicly done except for the crown and tube.. a little more work on the CG's then sending it out for lume and a little dial work.
