Too much snow?

its 19 but will take 20s snugly.

A invicta pro diver should fit your bill with plenty of money left over Seriously, none of these reps come water resistant from the factory. Some do but it's just a luck of the draw. Under $200 isn't gonna get you much. You've been here since feb and you're asking who has the best sub? Come on

Any recommendations for decent modding of Rolex DSSD
Bc1221 replied to ArcAngel's topic in The Rolex Area
If you buy a gen ceramic insert, you won't need to switch out the pearl. DSSD doesn't have a cyclop. No need to read up on ARd cyclops. You might wanna make sure the noob can take a gen insert before spending a bunch of money. You can do all the mods but it will still have noticeable tells. Rep hands are noticeably flat compared to gen and you can't put gen hands on a eta or a Asian clone movement. A yuki will take gen hands but no clue if a noob DSSD will take a yuki movement. I'd highly recommend just collecting the parts and sending everything off to a modder. No offense but it really doesn't sound like you know what youre doing. -
Any recommendations for decent modding of Rolex DSSD
Bc1221 replied to ArcAngel's topic in The Rolex Area
DSSD doesn't have any AR. A gen ceramic insert is gonna run you around a $1000 if you can even find one. Those ceramic models arnt cheap to franken. I'd just buy the best version available and leave it as is. Maybe do the platinum paint mod on the bezel. -
anybody has tips how to rebrush - refinnish CGs ?
Bc1221 replied to Star69's topic in The Panerai Area
You could use some high grit same paper to get the scratches out and refinish with scotchbrite pad or steel wool. -
That's normal. Esp over the wkd. A noob buying a 7750 rarely ends well. I hope you've done your homework on those. I would have accepted the watch. I think it looks great.

Been waiting for this!

TC Submariner v6 with gen insert - initial thoughts + pics
Bc1221 replied to phwtan's topic in The Rolex Area
$200/$250 for non ar. $300/$350 for ar is what I see them usually posted for. Not service crystals too- 20 replies

Getting some wrist time today. TC v6 w/ a flat 4 insert and flat crystal.
-
If you look for tells, you'll always find them. Best to just enjoy it and not go down that rabbit hole. You'll find yourself comparing pics to gens trying to spot the difference. The second hand pinion hole is always the dead giveaway to me. You can put a gen dial, gen crystal, gen bracelet..etc on it but unless you got a gen or a yuki movement in there, that hole will be a tell.
-
From the watches I've seen he makes his own cases and puts together what you want. Gen dial Asian movement Rep bracelet..etc Best thing to do is message him though. Thought about getting a old DJ made. Just wish they were a little bigger.
-
That sucks but are fairly easy fixes if the movement still works. Hit up one of the many modders on the forum
-
Yea the DJII that most sell is pretty nice. I got one with a fluted bezel in a trade and I honestly thought I'd hate the bezel but actually prefer it now. The only issue on those watches is the date windows are slightly small. The 20s are a bit cut off on the left side. Other than that they're great reps. The only thing with mine was the crystal isn't perfectly clear. Impossible to see unless the light hits it a certain way. Watch out for that in the QC pics if you can. Nothing I can't live with but it would be nice to have a clear crystal.

coffee isnt really good for it. i think coffee mixed with sugar actually sticks to the dial if you wanna try that. coffee never really worked for me. if you dont like the way coffee looks, you can usually brush it with water and clean it off. the few vintage subs i built, i just re-lumed the dial/hands, spray a few layers of matte lacquer and toast it a little under a halogen lamp. gives it a pretty good looking finish.

Replacing a Tc2824 with a eta 2824 or a sellita would be a pain in the ass if you want it done right. TC has always used H4 cannon pinions so the hour hand has the correct height. With a stock eta or sellita, you're gonna have a hour hand almost laying flat on the dial. As for why older TCs and such seem to sell for more than a new one... Well it's all a matter of pref. some people prefer TCs older cases with the deeper rehaut and engravings between the lugs and some with rehaut engravings. Then you gotta consider what gen parts are on it. A TC V5 with a gen insert is prob gonna sell for more than a brand new stock v6.

looking for some cheap reps... watcheden still alive?
Bc1221 replied to fulanito_uk's topic in General Discussion
never bought anything from them but they have really bad reviews on the forums. cheap or not, id rather spend a little extra and get a better watch. -
New rep with 'Swiss' Eta 2836-2 is 22 sec./day fast
Bc1221 replied to mick92627's topic in General Discussion
Never go by the timeogrpaher pics a TD sends you. At most, they wind them a few winds and measure it for like 4 seconds. Not nearly enough time to get a good reading. Nothing stops them from moving things around to get the best reading. Those pics are to prove it's ticking and it's the right beat rate. Give your watch a full wind. Wear it for a couple of days and then check. Sometimes it changes quite a bit after regular use. If you still need to adjust it, just google adjusting a automatic watch. It's pretty easy. -
They should last indefinitely as long at the owner takes care of em. Esp watches with good clones or etas. A service every few years and it could outlast you. Quartz watches will outlive you most likely. The issues as someone mentioned are the quality of cosmetic parts. Crowns, tubes, bezels..etc wears out. Ones built to get spec are easy to find parts for so that's a big factor in which reps I buy. This keeps my collection pretty small. Lol
-
If it were me, I'd stick a new 2813 in it and sell it. Get a better watch. You're at the bottom of the barrel. So much better reps out there. A modern rolex with a 21k movement is just wrong

Looking for the best Rolex Sub from the best seller
Bc1221 replied to qwer81's topic in The Rolex Area
Get it without the insert and buy a gen insert. You'll end up doing this either way. May as well do it from the start -
RA has his email addy posted on both rwi and rwg bz. I doubt he'd mind. I just don't remember it. Should be fairly easy to find though.

Looking for the best Rolex Sub from the best seller
Bc1221 replied to qwer81's topic in The Rolex Area
The subs didn't start coming with ARd cyclops until the ceramics I believe so it's not a must but it's a nice upgrade to have if you have the spare $300 or so. I just went with the flat crystal option and love it that way. Gen insert isn't a must. I guess it all depends on how picky you are. His new inserts look pretty good but nothing beats a gen. I was honestly pretty happy with his old insert but got a great deal on a used gen so I went with it. Again. Not must haves but nice upgrades if funds allow. -
Seagull doesn't sell parts. I believe the click spring from a bergeon click spring pack is the only one that works. Never had the problem myself but did a ton of research when I found out about the weakness. Keep us updated. I'd love a fixing option for when this eventually happens and I'd hate to have to buy a brand new movement.
-
When you deal in replicas, you take the risk of them showing up DOA. in this case you have a few options. Get it fixed locally and eat the cost. Send it back to china for repair but you eat the shipping cost and risk of it getting lost. Sell it as a DOA, count your losses and move on. This isn't amazon. These watches don't come with a warranty. You're dealing in illegal, counterfeit goods. Not tryin to be mean but you should have known what you were getting in to. That's how this hobby works. I've had my share of DOA watches and spent my own money on parts and fixed them. 1000s of other people had similar situations. That's just how it is.
