  1. Nice watch Teejay!

What is it about Panerai's and straps??? I bought a 111h and now have 5 straps for it  To answer some of your questions, it's probably worth checking out VB's Panerai Strap Caper threads - full of good strap reviews.

If you want a nice strap to get your collection going though, I can highly recommend FXRAndy - great straps and really reasonable price (if you want to see the one that I bought, there's some pics in the member trade review area).

  2. my oh my you are a bunch of picky bastards! ;) PVD, Swiss ETA and AR.....anything else?

OK for this to be feasible i think ill have to get one watch and try the PVD process myself. Theres no point taking orders, getting the money from everyone and then send off for PVD if it turns out crap. This will result in some very unhappy people, so ill do it first and see how it goes and ill get back to you.

I dunno, you offer to do something nice for people and they bite your hand off ;)

That's a very noble gesture to be the 'guinea pig' for the benefit of this community, hope it's appreciated by all the 'picky bastards' out there............I'd have to count myself as one though, and I'd just like to say "thank you" for offering to do this.

A B&R was the first rep watch that I wanted to buy, so I'm really interested to see if this'll work; if it does, then I'd just like to re-iterate that I'm definitely in.

    Best of luck,

  3. Still sporting this one

    INVIC-WRIST.jpg

TWP, that's a really unusual looking watch, and the lume looks incredible - where could I lay my hands on one of those, and are they expensive? I'm guessing that it has to be a gen as Invicta watches aren't that expensive (although I stand to be corrected on that one......)

    cheers,

  4. The list changes on an almost daily basis, but here's what I'm wishing for:

    MBW PP Nautilus Jumbo

    PVD B&R 03

Cartier Santos 100 (Chrono TT or plain non-chrono, not yet decided, maybe both!)

    DSN Fiddy

    IWC 3717

    AP RO

    FM Conqistador (square face)

    Seiko Monster (Orange)

And here's what I currently own:

    UPO with pumpkin bezel

    Pam 111H

    IWC F.A. Jones

    Mini Fiddy

IWC BP (hoping for the new one in '08)

    cheers,

  5. Wow, what a fascinating thread! Great to get a (small) insight into the personalities behind some of the avatars :)

    OK, so here goes:-

My wife and baby daughter - they have to be top of my list, because my life revolves around them, although especially my daughter, since my job and working hours mean that I only get to spend about an hour a day with her, and that's extremely precious.

Outdoor sports - not really a team sports guy, adrenaline is my thing, so

    • snowboarding - been riding since '90, and spent 3 seasons working in various roles in ski resorts in France and US
rock climbing - boulder up to V3, trad to E1 5c/6a, all in UK, but plan to try some Spanish rock this winter maybe.
cycling - both mtb and road, currently have a Trek for the road, and Marin full sus for the downhills
scuba-diving - learnt whilst at Uni, and dived extensively in UK (and yes, I've got a dry suit and wooly bear ;) ), only dive on holiday now though.

Motorbikes/cars - currently ride a 2002 Honda Fireblade (CBR954 to those who know their bikes), which is used all year round for my daily commute (I know it's a crime, but I've fitted heated grips to it for the winter). Love all cars and bikes, but particularly into choppers/custom bikes (Exile, OCC, etc.) and high performance sports cars.

Food - have done stints cooking for others (in ski resorts), but enjoy cooking anything, or having it cooked for me! Wife and I regularly visit farmers markets (including the ever popular celebrity-spotting paradise that is Borough Market in London), and try to cook all meals from scratch, i.e. no packet foods!

Travel - have done a reasonable amount, but not yet visited China, Japan, Australia, NZ, Russia and Africa. Fotunate to have spent considerable time in France, US, and Brazil through work (I'm an Engineer), and had some free time to explore.

Music/films - lumped these two together because my tastes in both are similar - like edgy, unusual, left-field stuff, not a big fan of the mainstream. Best film recently film was Babel, and last CD was Rodrigo y Gabriella.

Lastly, watches - always been interested, even though my 'first' watch was a stainless steel LED watch, (with cool red numerals -anyone remember them?), back in the late '70's. Only recently became aware of this whole rep thing - previously thought rep's were just Bangkok specials for $10 that would fall apart, but totally amazed by all this. As and when, I will purchase gen's that I feel are worth the money.

Sorry for the long list, got a bit carried away there.... :whistling:

  6. Really good photo's, my own Genta collection is already planned, but yet to start - the Nautilus is the favourite to kick it off though..... very soon, hopefully.

Shots like these emphasise the design integrity where the functional aspect (time/date indication) was totally supported by the integrated case and bracelet, with neither detracting from the other, yet seeming to combine and improve the overall aesthetic .............wow, that came out better than I thought  .....think I should go back to my shed now......

  7. Great pics, and interesting review. looks like a nice complex, empty beach too........but no underwater shots?

Surely you went diving with the Cousteau? Abu Nuhas, maybe? Or the Thistlegorm?

Must agree about the local selling practices, I got sick of them after about 4 days...nearly twatted one bloke.....which wouldn't have been very clever.... :nono:

  8. Like I said... it depends where you live. America and Canada are safe. One has the much bigger international issue of terrorism to deal with, and the other one has a populace that barely knows how to tell time let alone enforce complicated laws.

Very funny...........what's even funnier is that I'm planning to live there
