White lightning might be a little waxier than the Rock n Roll if I remember correctly, which is good and bad, honestly they both work great for this. I've had this happen with the R&R,too. There's just too much dry lube left over if this happens. After treating my bracelets I actually give them a cool soap and water rinse. This should keep enough dry lube around to do its job without having problems with residual residue on the wrist.

Thanks for the high marks guys. Food grade mineral oil.. This is something you will find in a super market, pharmacy, etc. It's mineral oil, not much else to it. It is non-toxic, and semi viscous. I (and many others) will use it to oil pocket knives & chef knives for example, so they can use them on food if the situation were to arise. It's basically like "organic oil" so it is fitting to use on something you will wear on your wrist. A tablespoon if it was also used as an old school laxitive! So you should look for it over by the ex-lax (seriously!) I found that adding just a drop or two to the bracelet process has yielded good results. Too much will defeat the purpose and you will be back to an oily mess and mine as well have sprayed WD40 on your bracelet, so keep the mineral oil to a drop or two. Mix it all together (dry lube, mineral oil, bracelet) in a ziplock and mix it around, rub it into the links, bathe that thing!

New Hands & Lume Rebuilding Grandfathers Watch
P4GTR replied to redwatch's topic in General Discussion
This is truly inspirational. If I can do my grandfathers watch 1/2 as proud as you've done yours I will be a happy man. Everything is coming together beautifully! Incidentally, my wife and I went to visit her grandparents today. I noticed her grandfathers watch sitting on the coffee table and picked it up. He's not into watches, just a simple quartz watch. I noticed it wasn't running, he said it had stopped a few days ago. I took it home with me today and picked up a new battery which I'll install in a little while and polish it up for him. It has one of those stretchy metal bands, of course! Hey Red, your photography skills always been that damn good!? -
Delmonico's is nice. I haven't been in a long time though. My uncle (Mike) works at the Four Seasons NYC, my wife and I stayed there for our honeymoon in May. This is the place to be! Oprah, Jen Aniston, and God knows who else were staying there while we were there. You could dine there, I mean, they grind prime Fillet for burgers.. Just bring an extra kidney for the bill. I'd venture out. Across the street is Tourneau, and not too far down the street is Club A Steakhouse. For one of our special romantic dinners, we went there, it was recommended to be one of the best in the city without spending $4K (save that for Tourneau!). It was sublime. You could be suave and take a cab to the four seasons (or walk if you are close by?), enjoy a drink in one of the restaurants there, then ask the concierge for directions to Club A Steak and enjoy a very short walk down a few of the most beautiful streets in the city. Tell Bruno, the owner of Club A, that Big Mike from the Four Seasons referred you, and it is your wedding anniversary. I believe it will be worth your while. If you decide to cab to the four seasons and start there, see if Big Mike is at the door, tell him Daniel sent you to say hello! Take a peak around upstairs if it isn't booked, digest your meal. Sit by the window with your wife for a moment and take in the experience. I hope you enjoy your anniversary. I know my wife and I will never forget our honeymoon. Here's the website for Club A- http://www.clubasteak.com/ A picture I took from our room 40~ stories up in the Four Seasons. That is 5th Ave below. and the window I took it from- If you notice by the wine and mozzarella, I'm Italian. I know food! You could hit the Oak Room at the Plaza if you wanted to. its not belligerently priced, and while you're there, grab a horse drawn carriage ride across the street in central park. I haven't ate there in a while, so I cannot vouch for the food, but it is the Plaza, however the Plaza is "touristy".

Thats quite a piece for something you threw together with parts. Charming! If I threw a watch together with my parts it would look something more similar to this-

Again, nice work BK. Thanks for sharing. Share the specific epoxy you use if you don't mind.

Such an easy fix man, a wad of tape and a tiny flat head screwdriver is all you need. Can't break broken, so pop it open! 5 minutes from now you could have a working watch. I'm just saying..

Broker, this one is for your friend (whats his name?). There is always, always, a looking glass within reach that shows nothing but despair, doom, death and demise. It's your choice to either pick it up before absolutely necessary and dwell on the imagery, or turn the other cheek to it and enjoy what you can until its time. Things like this, remind you how innevitably, you'll look through it sooner or later.

Anyone have a gen Cartier I can borrow? I want to run a series of tests on this amazing scratch proof glass they speak of.

I'm not a big fan of this color combo Ulysse, but thanks for sharing pics and the informative review

The DSSD is ceramic, no?
-
Ding! Sorry I was just about as far away as I possibly could be in the CONUS. Next time if you guys do the Disney in Orlando we can have a FL meet!
-
I respectfully disagree. You don't buy $8K worth of scuba gear and never go diving, why buy $8K worth of diving watch and never get it wet? No screws should be loose on the "M1A1 Abrams tank of tool watches", but I do understand your rationale. If someone spends $8K on a watch, the can do whatever they well please with it, including walk around the desert 1000 miles from water if they so choose. I want my DSSD rep to be waterproof though, just saying. I agree about the G-shock, even if you threw in a tsunami with all of that, your still good to go. It symbolism, inspired by the ProII that came with my Skyland. It kind've sums up this whole hobby for me with one picture. I like your sectional and coffee table with the wood floors btw.

Yes, please repost pics. If you want, I would be glad to host them for you if you're unsure, just email them to me (PM me for email address)

Teejay closed this thread down with his response IMO, nothing left to say.

My divers, like my sub, PO, SFSO, I feel should be able to handle some diving into, and swimming in the pool, and as such are waterproof. No one wears a dive watch here in FL where we are surrounded by water, and takes it off before getting wet! So, this is somewhat of an important feature. Anyone that has a watch waterproof to 13,000 feet and takes it off to swim is a poser, or wearing a rep, or both. Please post some pics up when you get it. Good luck and may the rep Gods smile down on you with a perfect example.

The more pics the merrier. Yours looks great, congrats! Enough with the sidebar touchy feel stuff though eh guys? Lets focus on the DSSD at hand. You fellas can take it to PM's for a date. Jake, as far as bezel replacement source... How much, and whats your initial thought on fitment? Are Trevors inserts held on by double sided tape like most rep bezels?
-
Anyone contacted Trevor lately? Concepta, yes, the $225 clone ETA model. Thats the one that is being compared and discussed, not the more expensive one on his site, that is the noob version. I'm thinking this is the way to go, i've emailed trevor regarding availability about 4 hours ago. Those side by side gen/trevor DSSD pics were very impressive. I could spot the rep, sure, but I could've done that with any DSSD rep out right now. Mainly the crown and CG finish is what set it apart for me. Very impressed. The noob version is really overpriced IMO, costing more than 7750 powered reps due to the demand/hype.

good info. nice work with the pearl mod. I hope the brightness of the steel isn't due to the addition of lead.
-
hows the lume? Is it a huge difference? Any luck with waterproofness? Awesome review, I might have to pull the trigger on a DSSD finally.

G, I hope you know my post was tongue-in-cheek, meant to be funny.
