  1. Agreed - bezel definitely sticks out way too much.
  2. What a great movement! Where did you come across it?
  3. So now that everyone has had a good laugh at my India cheapie, although I must wonder if some of you would have known had I not told you... What do you suggest for a goody that won't break the bank?
  4. Which seller, pics are you referring to?
  5. To me, true wealth is the fact that I'm sitting here hanging out with my two year old, doing some work here and there, making myself a latte and having a pleasant day outside the bounds of the rat-race.
  6. Agreed. I remember when an incredibly well-heeled wealthy friend of mine who is probably a 16th generation American (guessing) from Manhattan said to me "why would you buy such a flashy statement of wealth?" when she saw the green/green Rolex Sub-LV. She had herself on a Breguet and she'd had no problem with my Zenith which didn't cost what the Rollie did. Her mind was Rolex was ostentatious expression of personal wealth, with little to show for the price-tag, (I still love them) whereas some of the upper-echelon brands aren't recognized by the masses and you're safer flying under the radar wearing it. Those in the know will recognize it and appreciate it...the plebes will not have any idea. Twisted logic that I can appreciate.
  7. I have 3 genuine Rolex's and aside from the new 3135 movement any ETA quality, adjusted/serviced, movement keeps better time. 1520 movement, 1570 movement, both not as accurate as high-grade ETA movement of today. 3135 keeps same time as ETA Tissot Powermatic 80 and ETA 2824 elabore / cosc. The Zenith keeps pretty good time, probably the best out of the bunch, but it requires an expensive service due to it's high-beat movement. ((and the fact it says Zenith on it...))
  8. In all honesty I snatched it up just to see if it passed muster... if I'm going to spend a few grand building as close to 1:1 Daytona I'm probably not going to use a $60 dial, but it's really not that bad.
  9. Here's a slightly better picture - looks great in the flesh.
  10. I think they are just very faint - I can sort of feel them there - I can't tell a lot of difference between the $61 dial and this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLEX-Vintage-COSMOGRAPH-DAYTONA-Silver-Dial-6262-6263-6265-6239-6241/321702108301 Here's the guy I bought it from - looks like they're sold out at the moment --- http://www.ebay.com/usr/whitelotus24in
  11. Also you'll need to verify that it is in fact a Valjoux 7750 movement and not an asian clone ...
  12. Hey all! I won this dial on eBay for literally $61. The seller seems to be cranking them out readily, it even has a "Singer" stamp on the back, although highly unlikely it's a Singer plate. These are out of Mumbai and I was very dubious at first but since it's not a significant amount of money, I figured hey why not? Here's the initial iPhone photo's - I'll take high-res shots with the Canon later. I'm not at all an expert on these dials but this is my next build, and I'd like it to be quality. I'm planning: - Valjoux 72 donor movement with Phong bridges, etc. Will find one with rose-wheels, etc. - Phong Case, bezel etc. - Gen crown - Gen pushers if I can find them, or O-Frei if Phong's aren't up to snuff - Hands to be sourced - Gen Plexi What do we think of the dial? I think it's missing the concentric rings in each chrono section

  14. I've heard there's a lot of __________ behind that brand. What's the word I'm looking for, it's on the tip of my tongue.
  15. Great article! Thanks for sharing, I agree about making you think about the genuine article prices...someone is really getting rich
  16. Vladimir Putin stole your watch, it probably matched Bob Kraft's SuperBowl ring...
  17. Sounds like COD haha, and I would never accept that unless I was genuinely friends with someone and had done multiple transactions with them and knew where to find them.
  18. Get a no-date Sub from Pure-Time or if you want better quality get one from BK on here, if you need a date version get a TC V6. If you don't know what any of that means, you haven't spent enough time on the board, BK and TC are both trusted dealers, and can be found in sales area. Good luck.
  19. I'm just going to use this from now on feel free to save and use haha
