  1. You should be fine swimming with it. Scuba diving - i'd never rely with my life on a rep watch. There are proper diving watches / computers for that purpose.

    Water Resistance Chart

    3 ATM, 30m, 100ft

Suitable for everyday use. Will withstand accidental splashes but not suitable for swimming.

    5 ATM, 50m, 165ft

Suitable for everyday use and bathing but not suitable for swimming.

    10 ATM, 100m, 330ft

Suitable for everyday use and swimming and snorkelling but NOT suitable for high board diving or sub-aqua diving.

    20 ATM, 200m, 660ft

Suitable for all high impact water sports and scuba diving at depths not requiring helium gas. At these depths it is recommended to purchase a professional watch

    20 - 50 ATM, 200 - 500m

Suitable for all high impact water sports, scuba diving and saturation diving.

    100 ATM, 1000m

Suitable for deep sea diving and intergalactic travels.

  2. Hello Gang! Its been awhile! I still got that PAM bug. I hear that PAM 111 v4 from N factory might be the best version to date (out of the box). Is that still true? Is it still being sold? Trusty time doesnt seem to have it . Puretime has a listing from 2016, not sure if they still carry it. Any recent buys anyone can recommend?

i like 111 for its clean look, but im open for other clean "older" pams as well that are close to gen OTB.

    Thanks!

  3. Hey guys, long time member here can't believe it's been a decade...

Back in the days there were some really amazing things happening - accuarte pre-V crown guards, FGD's custom run of super accurate dials (still have one of his dials) and others, custom crowns, custom period correct lume etc etc Then there was rolli with his amazing work teasing everyone with his spectacular museum quality pieces. To tell you the truth this was something really exciting - seeing passionate people prototype, make and share for the love of these interesting and rare timepieces, pretty much like art making. Some of the pieces that can't out during that era were trully unbelievable works of art in my view.

Is any of this happening in the PAM background today? Any interesting custom dial work? Cases? Movements? Or are we stuck again with what cartel give us? You'd think with all the advanced technology in last 5 years with accessible CNC and 3d printing there would be truly amazing possibilities for watch makers.

    Anyone?

  4. yes, bury it in the bag of rice. or any other absorbent you can find there. i guess kitty litter might work as well, just put your watch into a nylon sock or something similar to protect from getting small pieces of absorbent inside the watch or scratching. otherwise the absorbent will suck the moisture out.

  5. still have original FM conquistador but did sell another one that made the list here - a certain white dial titanium breitling model .. was too light for my taste.

IMO gold FM is at the top of the list. any other makers went as far as replicating solid gold case, accurately?

  6. good to see old names posting again. been out of the loop myself and getting the bug again, it makes sense that great reps are slowing down, deamnd is down because of the disappearing middle class, and those who are getting richer can afford more gens, so here we go.

im liking my skyland V2 and SFSO, kinda thinking about taking a look at the new SFSO, mine is asian version with the regular crystal, no saphire.

i do like navi's! but have my concerns about accuracy/reliability.

  7. Caseback, bezel aside - Crown construction is important. Correct me if im wrong but gen crown has a gasket and some sort of spring if i remember correctly? Do these H factory reps have gen like crown construction? I'd think that WR limiting factor is the crown on most PAM reps anyway.

  8. welcome back stilty, i am glad to hear that surgery was a success, you must feel amazing now. Any interesting watch projects in the works? ;)

Yeah, sorry, wish I could take on the project for you. I have so much going on right now I barely have time to log in just to see what is going on and reply to PM's.

And sorry to those that I may or may not have answered to in a timely manner.

btw, the laser eye surgery was a huge success... don't know why I waited so long. B)

  9. Good evening everyone,

So over time i acquired all parts necessary for the 16014 project: gen case with crown and bracelet, gen dial, 2836-2 ETA, ETA hands and date overlay, Stilty movement ring to fit 2836-2 into 16014 case. No i need to put all of this together... i must say i am a bit intimidated. I am not sure who is active on the forum these days, stilty had a surgery last time we spoke and he seems to be gone now.

Can anyone recommend someone who could put this together for me for a fee? I am on the east coast and cant wait to finish this off!!!

  10. awesome people out there. Congrats!

I scored a '73 red sub, SN#3.7 on ebay. The lister messed the pics up, so when I contacted him via skype to get good pictures he found out I was in Iraq. He had done two tours in Nam, so he ended the auction early and held the watch for me until I came home. The piece is near mint with all the original links to the bracelet, there is some very slight chipping under the 6 o'clock tick marks. But the markers are great cream color and it runs like a champ...and all I had to do was spend 2 years in the desert for the discount.

  11. i see. same here, now switching to the RO in the kitchen, we'll see how it goes.

No. I filter sinks & showers. Ideally, all incoming water should flow through a central reverse osmosis/UV filtration system, but since the problem, as I see it, is not severe, I am not sure that is cost-effective. But if you can rationalize the costs, a centralized system certainly would not hurt.

  12. awesome! glad to hear someone actually cares. i have probably the highest concentration of biotech companies in the country around here and don't even want to think whats in the water supply.

they pointed out in the article a few places with good quality water but unfortunately thats an exception rather than the rule.

Actually, this is specifically related to the prescription drug / pharmacology. My local water company has been participating in studies about this exact topic since 2005. I live in perhaps the most health conscience city/state in the US at the moment. (It also helps that most of our water is from the Mountains).
