  1. What type of watch did you buy yours for? Mines is a TAG Link Chrono but I'm hearing most people use this DW for the PAM's.

I performed this change for Tag Link Chrono with no problem at all,

    so you should be OK.

  2. Got my crystal today! Thanks a lot for organizing this and going thru all the troubles...

however, I think I ruined the coating somehow... anyways, please be careful when cleaning coated crystals.

I got my two crystals a couple of days ago, overall those are my

4th and 5th from Chieftang, and I must say that the quality even

slightly improved with time. I had my Ingy crrystal done in the run 1,

and now Ingy Chrono in the run 5, and the crystal "disappearance"

effect is even more profound now. Besides, the lip size apparently

    got smaller. Thanks, Chief!

  3. Here is the story. I decided to change the cyclop on my PAM 089 (which came from River)

to the more suitable chieftang's one I bought a few months ago. When I detached the crystal,

I found, to my surprise, that the cyclop is not simply glued to the surface of the crystal, but rather

embedded into it. In other words, the crystal has a cylindrical cavity in it, and the cyclop is attached within

the cavity, so its top is almost flush with the back surface of the crystal. By the way, it may be of interest

for some members, the diameter of the cavity (and the cyclop) is 6.1 mm.

Anyway, it looks like this is an attempt on the manufacturer side to make the crystal (and cyclop magnification)

even closer to the original, but apparently the size is a little bit too small for this model.

It came as a complete surprise to me, so I decided to share this observation with the forum members

Now I probably need a new 44 mm sapphire crystal, in order to make the intended modification, so if somebody has

    one spare, please PM me.

  4. I think the third existing 2836-2 GMT modification should be mentioned. In my PAM 063 (bought it from a member,

who in turn bought it from Davidsen) the 24 hr GMT hand can be adjusted exactly the way the 2893-2 works,

namely not continuously, but in discrete 1hr (or 0.5 hr if measured by 12hr scale) increments.

So far the movement works quite reliably.

  5. Hi all!

I saw Robert (Verbal) pics, after installation and this makes me feel GOOD!!! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

As you might remember, the thickness ov my overlay is 0,05 mm thicker than the one it was there, but now we are all sure this doesn't create any trouble at all.

The risk was just very very little..., but there was a little bit of gambling here. B)

I'm going to print some more, because the first run of 30 pieces, just run out today.

I think I will print 15 more and should be ready in around three weeks, because I need to order the blank discs from ETA, while the overlays are ready to be printed.

It was a great project and I'm happy it was a success in the end.

There are a couple of members who are waiting a bit too long to get it, I just hope that they won't be lost by the postal service, otherwise I will loose money... :wounded1:

But let's beeing optimistic though. :)

Now I'm thinking to the next projects: 7750 Pam DW and after that, the 7750 Breitling Evo DW.

I'm going to make a post about the 7750 Pam.

I installed the datewheel yesterday, and found no problem with the extra 0.05 mm. Date changes same way as it did before.

The position of the date in the date window is just perfect. I also upgraded my Inge with double AR coating (thanks to chieftang),

and the final result is absolutely superb :winkiss: Thanks again, lello!

  6. Brian,

could you put me for 1 crystal in the run 2?

If so, please count me in.

I think there's a good chance we'll have enough demand for a 3rd run. Beyond that, it's just a question of demand. I'd like to do a single-sided-only run for one of my crystals also, but I'm not sure sufficient demand exists for that.
  7. You have two problems...

    1. you have to remove the broken post from the hand,

    2. replacing the 12 hour wheel, is one of the most difficult parts of assembling the 7750, see my how-it-works here for what your up against...

    7750 12-hour wheel info

Unless you have experience assembling a 7750, your better off letting a watchmaker fix it.

Thank you, The Zigmeister. Apparently, this is beyond my current level of watch fixing skills,

so would you mind if I PM you with the request for help?

  8. A couple of days ago I found that date stopped changing in my

Tag Link Chrono. It happened before, so I knew that most likely the little wire spring,

which helps the date wheel to be positioned correctly, had slipped,

so I removed all the hands, and the dial, and fixed that little problem.

When I started assembling the watch back, I discovered that the tiny shaft for the

minute chrono subdial (12) is absent. I found it later sticking out of the hand.

I tried to be very cautious when removing the hands, but apparently manage to break

it. So my queston is, whether this is reasonably easy fixable/replaceable part, or all I can

do is to get a new asian 7750 movement? Any suggestion and advice is greatly appreciated,

because this blue Tag is one of my favorites, and you know how it feels,

when your favorite toy is broken.

  9. My congratulations to the winners!

But I've got a little suggestion to the admin.

Well, you see I got this three e-mails on 10/13:

    1. 4:46 PM Eastern time

    Congratulations ar0401,

You have won a prize from the last edition of RWG online lottery.

Ticket #5004. You have won Breguet Tourbillion

    2. 4:47 PM Eastern time

    Congratulations ar0401,

You have won a prize from the last edition of RWG online lottery.

Ticket #5043. You have won 5 tickets to the nest RWG Lottery

    3. 4:57 PM Eastern time

Due to me applying some wrong setting in the RWG lottery, the script drew the winners long before all the tickets have been sold. Because of this we still have no winners. I apologize for this and wish you the best of luck in the REAL drawing that will take place when all tickets have been sold.

For the entire 20 min period I was believing that I had won (twice!) in the lottery for the first time in

    my life! :wounded1:

I do undersatnd that it was a small error in the script, but in case of an unlikely event of repeating

this situation, I would suggest to sweeten the disappointment pill for mislead parties by

offering some small consolation price (say 1 or 2 free tickets in the future lottery issue)

    Just my 2 cents :)
