  1. It looks like his old dial - no ticks next to 6 o'clock. Good crown & caseback, somewhat unclear about lugs - no straight picture
  2. I have successfully fitted new 29M date wheel from asian 2836-2 to 2893-2 movement for updating 29M. So I believe this DW can be used for 63/23 too, if it possible to source from our dealers. This DW is pretty well done.
  3. Guys, I couldn't help noticing that a lot of people have their 029M relumed. Of course, this is a matter of perconal preference, but as for the color correctness... Well, a few months ago I bought the set of gen 29 hands from Vanni on eBay. I initially intended to use them on my 063, but the color of the hands was greener than I expected, so I bought 029M from PureTime, and fitted 2893-2 movement to it along with the gen hands. The color of the dial of the rep dial is the same as the color of the gen hands. Spot on. That is why I think the color change is unnecessary. IMHO the only thing to do is to source old cartel GMT hand, and make it greener to match the dial lume. The point is that the 029M rep GMT hand has incorrecly shaped arrow triangle, and old cartel 063/029 GMT hand is very close in shape/size to the gen. Here are some pics. http://s1108.photobucket.com/albums/...erg/PAM%2029M/ (#3 on one of them is old DSN GMT hand, #1-gen, #2-cartel) The fitting of the 2893-2 was not too hard, provided I used the movement from 029B I built a while ago. Some small distance between the dial and movement ring s/b provided to compensate for different movement thickness, it doesn't cause the datewheel look recessed. Higher 24h wheel and hour wheel/cannon pinion for the 2893-2 also should be sourced. I don't know to which extent it is a proble now. A few years ago I got them from Jules Borel.
  4. I encountered with the same issue while buiding my 3717 from gen parts about a year ago. In the hand set I received one small hand had the steel tube, and the two other painted ones. I ended up ordering a couple of small hands with the steel center from hacra, who probably still can source them.
  5. Please, put me down for 2 auto SS for rep CG. Thanks.
  6. Sorry guy, my measurements were way off. Have found 2893 and 2836 GMT wheels, correct measurements 1.9mm 2893-2, 2.20mm modified 2836-2.
  7. I have just measured the inner diameter of DSN GMT hands for both 2836 modified and 2893. GMT hand for 2893 has the diameter 1.73 mm, hand for the 2836 - 2.12 mm A year ago or so I did replace 2836 with 2893 in my 029, and I can assure you that from my experience GMT hand for modified 2836 is much wider, and cannot be directly used on 2893 movement. Well, may be some newer version of modified 2836 has the different pinion size.
  8. Contacted the seller, who agreed to remove the item
  9. The "Omega" on the dial tells it all, plus rotor apparently has stickers. Please, see the link http://cgi.ebay.com/OMEGA-SS-SEAMASTER-AQUA-TERRA-CO-AXIAL-WATCH-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ180439828594QQcmdZViewItemQQptZWristwatches?hash=item2a030d4872 What is strange, it is a seller with 100% feedback, and 5659 transactions. Could somebody report it to eBay? I just don't know how.
  10. Absolutely agree, Lello's DWl makes all the difference, so sunken DW is not an issue. And dluddy, the only thing to add to your overall beautiful watch is the titanium T48 crown. 7750 stems with 1.2mm tap can be bought here http://cgi.ebay.com/STEMS-25-Calibers-avai...1742.m153.l1262

Take a look. Didn't expect to see such things here. http://www.chrono24.com/en/search/index.ht...mp;SEARCH_MOVEM[]=1&SORTORDER=1&numresults=223
  12. Cool looking watch, but be aware, that these movements are really mediocre from the accuracy standpoint. You can count on +-45 sec a day.
  13. I have both of them. Ingy with the latest Chieftang's AR/Lello's datewheel, and VCO with black dial. From the point of view of modding Ingy is preferable, because Lello's DW is practically the only thing you need to get to make the watch visually indistinguishable from the early version gen ( the one with shorter hands). The double AR is already there in new versions. Yes, the bracelet (buckle) can easily be broken, but this is easily fixable with some epoxy like JB Weld - I fixed a couple of Ingy bracelets wth it, and it works just fine. There is a nice thread related to the fix. There are two versions of VCO dials - older one with matte numbers and rectangular date window, and new one with glossy numbers and trapezoidal date window (from Silix). I have both of them, and tried both. Actually I ended up buying the gen dial from watchcoaustralia on eBay. I can say, that the older dial is closer to the gen, then the Silix's one. I filed down the date window on the older dial to make its shape closer to the trapezoidal, and after that the only noticeable two differences between the gen and the rep are slightly lesser size of the numbers, and white color of the numbers/marks on the inner bezel (silver on the gen). The numbers on the gen dial are not glossy, and the shape of the date window is different from the Silix's version. The cross on the Silix's dial is much close to the gen, than the on older dial (way too small) I have never had any problem with the bracelet. It is also known, that although the rep caseback is beautiful, but it is still not as detailed as the gen. As soon as I finish this modding project, I'll post the pictures comparing the dials.
  14. The great majority of mankind has an insatiable appetite for free lunch/free ride, so I am pretty pessimistic about significant increase our paying base from the 4% level. But I feel great respect for the spirit, style, and information richness of this forum (have to admit, mostly brought by supporting subset of the forum population), so I am glad to add a small donation, and apparently do not mind to help the forum in the future if the help is needed. Just my 2 cents.
  15. I successfully repaired two such bracelets with J B Weld (not the quick setting one), as Chieftang once suggested. There is a helpful pictorial about the subject, cleverly suggesting to used Rodicl to ensure proper angle between the clasp and the broken part. Works just fine.
  16. Applied math/advanced statistical modeling/financial analytics/software development. Principal analyst in a big nasty company.
  17. I've done all the modifications you mentioned to my SMP Chrono, so here are my two cents. The hands sometimes are available on eBay, but Ofrei is a good choice, relatively inexpensive, (I think about $90 US for the entire set), the hands are very luminous, and have noticeably brighter orange color than rep hands. The dial is rather readily available on eBay (and expensive at the Ofrei store) Here is a couple of current item numbers: 120241033105 , 180228908156 I used to buy from both these sellers, they are very reliable Basically, gen SMP Chrono dials emerge every week or so, and can be bought in the range $20-$50 shipped, so you always have a choice Crown/tube can be bought from Ofrei, but crowns can also relatively easily be purchased on eBay. There is no AR on the gen version of the SMP with white lettering on the dial, although it looks much better with AR, so I have it done with Chieftang's help, and never had any regrets. Good luck with your modifications.
  18. I bought quite a few watches from Silix. It never took more than 2 weeks to get the package in the US. The fastest delivery happened a few days ago. Ordered HBB lite and paid on March 19th, got a message on March 20th that the order would be shipped soon, got the package at my door on 25th.
  19. This review should be pinned. It is one of the best in the forum history. Thanks a lot for sharing it with us!
  20. Try Angus http://www.puretimewatch.com/
  21. Chief, why do you think the font is so wrong? Check this link to Blowers http://www.blowers-jewellers.co.uk/pilots_chronograph.htm I think the font looks pretty much the same. I have this rep, and already changed the movement to the decorated ETA 7750, and got the AR done, looks/works fantastic. The only thing left, I think, is to thinner the markers, and relume them.
  22. It is a very good looking watch, and I myself a big fan of AR coating, but the gen Tag Link Chrono CJF2114.BA0576 doesn't have AR.
