On closer inspection I discovered another anomaly. My case is stamped with H series number. So I have a G dial on a H series case and movement. Maybe it's a rare transition model ;-)
-
An incorrect one for the G, should have the engraved bridges.
Good catch, I did not notice that. According to ALE's reference guide the 2004 G Series movement decoration should be "PANERAI-PANERAI" not Cotes de Geneve. This change was made in 2005 with the H series when the BLACK SEAL dial text was moved from the bottom to the top. Thank you.

Sounds like they got your order but your cc company blocked the transaction. You may just need to call your cc company and let them know it is OK to approve the charge.

I would say around $125/$150 is about the max I will pay for a good aftmkt dial because at $125 to $150 I can stand getting a dud now and then but ratty $500/$1000 dials are hard to swallow. After all, some of the crappiest dials are over $500.
Imho no aftmkt dial is worth over a couple hundred bucks unless it will fool just about every 'expert' on the planet.
I think this is good advice. So what would one recommend as the best "readily available" vintage sub dial that is less than $150?

Thank you.

Neat article on the gen - copy and paste into new window to not refer
I read that article earlier this week. That certification is a joke. I agree with most of the comments at the bottom of the article.

Nice watch, bob, and nice picture!
Yeah, I know hitting the dial with some matte varnish works, but I have zero experience doing it. I'll have to get some advice here on the forum before I go ahead. Also, the white lume is kind of growing on me...
Thanks. Do you have any macro shots of your relume?
-
Can anyone help me determine what type of movement is in this one?
-
Here's mine
-
Really enjoying mine so far. If I still have it after 6 months I will probably go for a relume also.

Looks fantastic. A blue Tudor snowflake is high on my list.

Looks like a kitchen utensil.
-
I prefer the 111 but you can't go wrong with either.

Mine should arrive any day.

Keep 'em coming.

Cannot contain my excitement so decided to share a couple of early pics with my watch collecting friends.
Looks fantastic. I'd like to get one like this with a gilt dial.

Back to Narita for the second time this week, and the two-tone Master Master is in:
One-word review: Ehh...
Not a fan of the SS/Gold.

I had a TT sub in the early 2000's. It was really bad. I ended up using it to practice disassembling/reassembling a watch then threw it away.

What would you do if you got the following response to the bezel comment:
"The QC pics is to verify that model is correct and not for nitpicking"
I have mixed feelings about this. I can understand the dealers POV but I'd also hope that they would check for these things before purchasing the watch. A shot from a different angle might help confirm the misalignment. Who did you purchase from?
-
I do think some of this may be the angle. See the gen blue one in this thread:

Liking the non-cyclops 1680 and 5514 a lot. Great collection, I've bookmarked this thread for future inspiration.
-
Meh, I am not too impressed. Just another boring LE from Panerai. I am not drinking the Kool Aid on this one.
-
Yeah, the bezel insert on this one looks off too, esp at 30.
