Be aware though... if you are visiting GZ during the April or October "Canton Fair" seasons, you may not find many reps on view. It varies. Sometimes there are acres of reps... more that you could possibly believe. But last October, there was a police clamp-down and there wasn't a rep in sight.

Around 50 - 60 half-turns is usual for a 6947.

But one of my Asian 6947s takes about 150 half-turns... low-geared, I suppose.

Run all the way! It closes at 6. Which means that you need to be there a lot earlier.

Glad to see a bunch here from the camp of no winders. I have 50+ reps and i never, NEVER machine wind them. put it on my wrist and after about ten minutes or wristtime, I adjust all the other gadgets.

Absolutely agree. I give them a gentle swirl, set date and time (in that order) and strap them on. I never wind my automatics.

I am so jelous... I have been waiting so long for that buckle.

But, for what it is worth, in my (not very) humble opinion, the tan strap is best... and can only get better with time.

The deployant, in my opinion, is both ugly and uncomfortable.

The Banda straps cost $80 and were on my wrist within a fortnight.

Here is a custom strap by HK Tan. Made from aged, distressed leather salvaged from a derelict railway coach. It took longer and cost more. No regrets on either score.

And yes... I have another HK Tan strap on order. Patience... patience...

@Jetsons... this is what an OEM strap looks like:

Look carefully and you will see that one end of the "T-piece" (the bit that goes into the buckle end of the strap) has a screwdriver slot in it. Simply unscrew, remove, wriggle the remaining bit into your strap and then replace the part you removed.

Be careful. Some of these deployants have two removeable parts. They can be a bugger to assemble again - yfor these, you'll need two screwdrivers, three hands and a lively sense of humour.

Having fitted it, you will probably find that the deployant is bloody uncomfortable and you'll will remove it and revert to a tang buckle as soon as possible.
