  1. Thanks a lot for all the responses.

I guess many of you agree with me that it's not worth the extra $$$ for the swan neck. I personally like the swan neck since it makes it more accurate but considering how much more expensive it is I think for now I am going to stick with one without it.

Hopefully they will fix some of the flaws that are out there now which may make it worth purchasing the swan neck in the future, but until then, I think i will hold off.

    Thanks guys!!

  2. Just wondering what the point is for purchasing a PAM with a swan neck (aren't all swan necks just for looks on the reps?). I know it's more accurate with the swan neck but since most PAMs have flaws on the back anyway, why spend the extra money on the swan neck.

I've was about to purchase the PAM 217 Destro with swan neck but then I realized the engraving "officine panerai" on the back of the movement was upside down. So now Im thinking of saving my money and getting one without the swan neck and/or possibly puchasing the Asian one.

Anyway, to make a long story short, why did you or will u purchase a PAM with the swan neck.

  3. I am looking at my 217 Destro and came upon a stunning revelation (although it may have been covered here before). I bought the best rep version I could find using PAM's own website pictures for reference. And in fact the rep comes with the "Officine Panerai" engraving upside down when the watch is flipped over with the lever facing down.

I noticed this very same thing a couple weeks ago too.....I was thinking of purchasing a PAM with the swan neck but then I realized that all the reps have the engraving upside down compared to the gen.

So what is the point of spending extra on the swan neck when the engraving is messed up. Anyway, if anyone knows of a dealer that has the correct engraving....please let us know.

    Thanks

  4. This is my second purchase from Joshua, I received it very fast again, within 8 days from the time of my order. I think we've seen quite a few shots of this watch but I thought I might as well add mine.

I've had the watch for about 2 weeks now and have been wearing it almost exclusively.

I actually wore this watch into two different watch dealers earlier last week and they noticed it right away. Both mentioned how they really like the titanium look. One dealer asked if he could see it, which I allowed him to, (I was looking at his Panerai at the time). He said how he always liked IWC's (BTW, he did not sell IWC, Rolex, Panerai and Patek).

Not sure if he knew it was a rep or not, but he was really pushing the Panerai on me. Anyway, it was kind of fun.

    Here are the shots.

I know, I need to get an account for picture hosting. Whats the best site for that?

  5. Best of luck to you, I know you really liked that watch based on your previous posts.

I actually just purchased one myself based on your review. Hopefully I don't get a lemon also.

Maybe PT will change his mind and just let you exchange it if you can't find anyone to repair it for you.

  6. Wow, I never knew pp would just leave you hanging after winning a settlement. They aren't going to refund you the money? That is very strange. I would keep hounding pp about this.

As far as sending more money for a discount on another watch, I would not do this personally.

Unfortunately, you can chalk this one up as a learning experience and stick with other dealers that accept the payment method that you are willing to use. There are a number of dealers that use pp and they have never had any problems.

The two dealers that I use do take pp and I have never had any problems. I won't chance using anyone else. Find one or two really good dealers with a good reputation and stick with them.

  7. I am so glad someone finally brought this question up. It is very frustrating to have to email each dealer to ask for a price on a certain watch.

I recently emailed one dealer for a watch and was very surprised at the price. He was a dealer that I had purchased from before so I don't think it was an inflated price, but if I would have known the price to begin with I would have known it was out of my price range.

So right now, I am currently waiting on 3 other dealers to see if they have this watch and what their price is. Is this a big deal?, not really....can it be frustrating?....yes. Will the price be my deciding factor on who I purchase this watch from?......probably not. Customer service goes along way, and if there is a problem with a watch it's not a big deal to pay an extra $20 to $50 to purchase it from a dealer who you know will make it right and reply in a timely manner and to save that extra money to be dicked around if there is a problem.

So, to make a long story short, just post your prices.

  8. That Titanium model is sooooo sweet. It's definately my next purchase. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Has anyone come up with an answer about the bent second hands? Im pretty sure they are like that with the gen also, but haven't seen a good enough picture of one to verify.
