  1. Yeah I agree. A screwed down crown will not move as easily as a non screwed down crown. I have trouble believing a non screwed down crown is just as secure. Why else would crown guards exist if it's not important that a crown is secured?
  2. Ahhhhh I see. I didn't mean to hijack thread, good luck with the Monte Carlo!
  3. I still don't understand why no one is CNC machining spec replica cases yet. I guess the demand is too low for all the tooling and design set-up? Its not that I think 1450 is unreasonable, since what I assume it takes is a crap load of handshaping and hours of so many little steps get each part correct. It's a fair price for the Time it takes to make by hand I guess. The bench rate for fine jewelers is even higher. But all of these cases could be drawn up or 3d scanned and produced on demand. One approach would be to 3d scan all the basic contours inside and out, and then I assume you use 3d software to input the thread and pitch for the inside case threads and the case back threads. The goal would be to have a complete 3d file of the case and then simply upload it to an on demand CNC hub. ( Like 3d printing). All that should be left is creating the correct finish, but no filing or shaping needed with a good 3d file for the CNC machine.
  4. I make jewelry on the side and last year I drilled right through my thumb as well. It didn't hurt much but freaked me out. I probably have silver shavings inside me still.
  5. The site was down yesterday for a moment so there was some kind of server crash or server move or hosting issue I assume.
  6. I had to learn this too. Another reason I think is if you want gen-like end links like from WSO, you need the gen. Spec 2mm spring bars for proper fit inside the end links. Otherwise you have too much slop. So is more than just looks it sounds like.
  7. This is troubling. I am wanting to sometime send a case out for work in Europe from U.S. as well but now I'm worried. Are there U.S. based modders who do work or are they all in Europe?
  8. I remember last year an airport traffic control was crippled because no one could work on the old windows 3.1 or some early version. So it sounds like the old windows was used by critical operations like air traffic control.
  9. What is the usefulness or purpose of Unix server?
  10. Do you mean enamel? I'm new to watches but I would think a traditional way to add color with shine and durability is to enamel a brass or silver dial. I would worry laquer paint would give off gases and fog or change colors under a crystal. The more bad ass way would be a hard traditional enamel.
  11. Wow, thanks for sharing. I need to settle a proper build with my newer Cartel so this will help. What is ST? I know Clark bezels are on eBay but what/where is ST?
  12. Nice! I too love Tudor very much. Is that a Tudor Rose tattoo on your hand? Awesome.
  13. Excellent. How did you fix the "stainless steel " misspelling? It looks to be lightly etched like cartel but there is no misspelling. Great build! Do you accept clients from across the pond?
  14. Well we will know if the insert falls off from being wet a few times. I love the cartel 5513 but I'm frustrated they have perfect case neck size but then the bezel itself itself is out of spec so the insert is glued instead of pressure fit. So you end up having to buy an entire bezel assembly even though the case neck is correct....
  15. Curious.....did you replace the bezel assembly or use the cartel?
  16. Thank you for posting these pictures. The caliper specs on different sections is very informative. I would to see similar shots with an original 5513 case if it's different.
  17. Once more, I always thought there are too many inconsistencies with buying the extremely expensive hand shaped cases. But I'm probably wrong because why would the inside be off where there is no hand shaping? We really need to just directly CNC or 3d print cases with perfect specs.
  18. Cool, your vintage markers and hands work is freaking amazing! I was gonna try to vintage my own Yuki 7928 dial but after seeing your work, I may ask about your services. You are a true artist.
  19. Sweet, where will you find the 2846? I need one soon as well.
  20. At least cartel cases are consistent.
  21. Now I hear this? Darn. I thought Yuki dials were pretty accurate so thanks for the heads up. I wonder why he doesn't fix that inaccuracy.
  22. Do you do your own engraving for the case backs?
